      I’m actually always meaning to make more content in DCS, so I shall definitely aim to make such a vid at some point going forward (I’ve been thinking about an IL-2 series for a long time as well now) - I’ve merely got to figure out how to get that DCS Spit off the ground in one piece first! ; )
      Cheers, all the best!

    I picked this up yesterday and was really happy with it. It is great to see such a detailed and busy cockpit with so much attention to detail having been applied by comparison with the more sparse Spit IX cockpit. No doubt there will be some further updates, as you point out some more sounds would be great to compliment those already included. Having two Spits in the virtual hangar is great, they both have their own personalities and I am enjoying them both. Another awesome review.

      Thanks as always Terry!
      Yep, whilst the aircraft could certainly use some bug fixes, I’m very much enjoying it as well. Like you, I like having the two variants available, they have their own character and it’s nice to appreciate their differences. For that reason, I’m sure I’ll end up picking up the Aeroplane Heaven MK V when that drops as well haha.
      Thanks again. Glad you enjoyed the review. Happy flying! : )

      Yes, it’s an absolutely beautiful rendition of the MK I! Haha well as I guessed, it seems the sounds are very much dividing peoples opinions once again - personally I think they’re quite nice though as well.

      Thanks very much Robo, glad you enjoyed it!
      Indeed, a beautiful piece of music (it became quite well recognised in the UK, by an advert for bread of all things haha). I suspect being Czech, you might perhaps be just a little bit biased though hehe? ; )
      Greetings and all the best! : )

    • @robokobra8199
      @robokobra8199 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I hope the bread was good quality :)
      For me, it was symbolic to hear music from a Czech author in your review, many Czechoslovak pilots flew on spitfires for England.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, absolutely! It’s probably *the* brand that people would think to mention, if you asked them for a famous bread brand in the UK haha (Hovis). Their adverts used to very memorable too (as you can imagine with the music).
      Indeed Robo, that’s a very good point that you make! I chose the music because it reminds me of the rolling hills of England (for the aforementioned reason), but of course it would be an even more appropriate ode to your countries airmen - to whom we owe a huge gratitude (along with so many other young men, from other nations).
      Lest we forget.
      All the best! : )

    I just bought this and love this for GA flying. I think your review was so accurate and despite some of the niggles I think this is superb and for me the sounds of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine is just lovely...overall I am very pleased with this purchase and I think this was a work of love for Aeroplane Heaven and the minor faults will be patched out. A+

    Excellent and thorough review again 👍, really enjoyed the video , especially the piece in the middle with the accompanying music , really gets one thinking about the brave warriors who flew these wonderful machines 👍.
    As regards the MK1 , what a fantastic example it is . For me , I think it has enough of its own characteristics , compared to the Flying Iron spit ( which is fantastic ) , to warrant a purchase ( reason I haven't purchased just yet , is I'm waiting for the redness and soreness to subside from the €34 " sting in the backside " I got from the F8 Crusader !! 🤣 ) .

      Yes, currently it’s far from perfect, but it’s a beautiful model and fun to fly. Hopefully AH will continue to work on it. As you say, for my money it’s unique enough to warrant having 2 Spits in the virtual hangar (who am I kidding, I’m sure I’ll pick up the AH MK V as well when that arrives haha).
      €34 would leave a somewhat unpleasant taste. I really hope the dev does continue to work on it. If it’s any consolation, I’ve made the same miscalculation myself many times over the years haha.

    The whining you hear from the engine will be the gearbox on the blower ! I bought this download yesterday and still find it a bit of a handful on the takeoff but strangely I have done some greasers of most of my landings. Worth the money I think and tend to agree with most of your comments, enjoyed the review.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy,
      I figured it was probably something along those lines; so could potentially be accurate - but as one doesn’t tend to hear the same noises on various other virtual Spits, it made me wonder whether it was likely one would hear such a noise or not.
      I’ve been enjoying the aircraft myself. For me, I think it will be worth the money, once the bugs have been fixed up.
      Glad you enjoyed the review and are enjoying the aircraft. Cheers, happy landings! : )

    Thanks for another helpful and entertaining review. I've never seen a Ki-gass primer as modelled by Aeroplane Heaven. As you said, the original was unscewed, pulled out to fill and pushed to inject fuel. It's also inappropriate that AE have added some metal chipping effects to the rudder and elevator, which were fabric covered on the Mk Ia.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks very much, my pleasure as always!
      Yes, I've never seen such a Ki-gass primer myself either, but I assume Aeroplane Heaven didn't just imagine it up out of thin air. . . Who knows, maybe it is fictitious (nobody else seems to have seen such an example, and I know quite a few people who frequent the channel are passionate about such details, yourself included I'm sure) - it would be a strange choice on AHs part then though. Even from a purely mechanical point of view, pushing like that would take quite a bit more exertion on the part of the pilot I would imagine.
      That's a good point about the wear and tear on the control surfaces. I've had to point out to a couple of people, that it's not necessarily a bad thing that the aileron texturing is different from the wings (as they are fabric covered), but all the while I had missed the worn metal effects haha.
      Still some work to be done on the aircraft I think. I am enjoying it in its own right, but another round of fixes / improvements would go a long way.
      Thanks again and all the best! : )

  • @dokken1212
    @dokken1212 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great review again as always and very in-depth and detailed with honest and objective insight. Regarding the primer, I know in DCS it's black so did a wee google search of Spity cockpits and there are examples with a brass type primer although most I seen were black. However, the brass primer looks dull in the Spity cockpit photos, not like it is on this aircraft where it looks immaculate and like a 'presentation' piece that someone would have on their desk or something like that. The real brass primer looked more utilitarian in the Spity photos. Agree with DrunkenBear's comment below - would be great to see a wee video with you flying a Spity in DCS in anger lol. There is a future challenge for you hahahahaha :-)

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers James : )
      For sure, the primer is a bit on the clean side haha, my issue was more with its modelling though. I’ve never seen a primer that looks like the AH one on a Spit (or any other aircraft for that matter). I’ve also never seen one that’s “push” as opposed to “pull” to operate. It may be that it’s accurate (I can’t imagine AH just imagined it up out of thin air), but It’s not one I’ve ever come across. . .
      Haha, I’m always thinking I need to do more content in DCS (I keep enviously looking at vids of the Mossie as well XD), challenge accepted (at some point)!
      All the best!

    • @dokken1212
      @dokken1212 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations Ah I see, I misunderstood, sorry :-). Well, I can say that the brass primers did not look like that either - they looked far more flush to the cockpit as opposed to sticking out in the way it does with the AH model. Look forward to seing the spit getting hurled round the skies in DCS (at some point) :-). I also think for people like me - seeing your great flying and abilities to explain things / paint a picture / offer suggestions etc would be very beneficial in regards to DCS. However, I fully appreciate that DCS is not your 'main thing' at the moment (or possibly ever) on your channel and fully appreciate that things of that nature may be more sporadic than constant :-)

    Great review as usual. I picked up this on the strength of their C140. I love the details - fabric control surfaces, 3d filler cap etc. The old crate has lot of character.
    I think Aeroplane Heaven have their particular way of doing sound - simulating the drone you hear in the cockpit. I like it, but it's not for everyone. Piston singles tend to be just... loud. You don't really pick out any details, although I've never been in a Spitfire!
    I can see why some people prefer the meaty exhaust note sound of the MkIX. I think the reality is probably between the two.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Roland, glad you enjoyed it!
      Indeed, as a model (externally) it has some really nice features; quite a bit of character as you say. Sounds always seem to divide people, but I like them. I’m sure the reality of sitting in one would just be a cacophony of noise, but I guess that wouldn’t translate very well into the sim. I think the FI MK IX sounds more as people would “expect” a Spitfire to sound, but few people are really going to know of course. As you say, in reality it’s probably between the two haha.
      Happy flying! : )

    I've been waiting for this release, and was hoping they would come out with an absolute banger, but it seems a little unfinished to me and certainly not a "must have", particularly when already owning the Flying Irons model. Worth another look for sure in an update or two.
    While it's not the same model as the Flying Irons, I'm surprised you didn't provide any comparison. I'm sure a lot of people would choose one or the other.

      Hi Adam,
      Indeed, sadly it isn’t as polished as one might wish at the moment. Hopefully Aeroplane Heaven will do another whip around and fix up all the bugs. It’s certainly not perfect, but I must say I’m enjoying it thus far. Worth another look after a patch or two as you say.
      I realise a comparison would probably be the obvious thing to do and I’m sure many people would like to see one; it’s actually something I tend to try and avoid on the channel though. I like to review each product based on its own merits, as opposed to drawing comparisons with another - just a personal preference.

    Great review. For me the first question has to be is it worth 1/3 more money than the Flying Irons Spit, and as it stands I don’t think so. It seems almost there but not quite. For example to add a nice touch such as the working P9 compass but not get the interface quite right is a missed opportunity I feel. Yes the visible engine is a nice touch but for me personally not a reason to buy and especially when some basic instrumentation isn’t working properly. All personal opinion of course and hopefully it will be fixed but for now…. No. Now if the A2A MK I/II was available that would REALLY be something worth paying a little extra for!

      As it stands, I would have to say you’re probably correct. As I mentioned in the review, I think the asking price will be fair enough, as and when the bugs / sounds etc are fixed up (and of course I would rather they hadn’t been there in the first place). Both the FI Spit and the AH Spit have their own strengths and weaknesses I think . Couldn’t agree more though, there’s only one Spit I’m really waiting for! ; )

    Really tempted by this. Own the MK IXc so is quite a lot for another spitfire but assuming the bugs are fixed and they don't dismiss wider community input like saw with the C140 I'm torn as do think is different enough but is a lot for one model when we have an incredible spitfire already in the Simulator.
    I'm hoping it's available on Just Flight soon (no idea why they always are so slow compared to other sites) as often it's cheaper there and currently depending where buy can be near £5 difference which is quite a lot.

      Hi Cavy,
      Well, I would recommend waiting then and seeing what AH do with it. If the bugs get fixed up then I think it’s a fair enough asking price, if they don’t, not so much. Wait and see whether the aircraft gets fixed up - and then you just need to decide if you want two Spits or not haha.

      Hi Derek (and VHKDK),
      I experienced much the same myself, when I flew the addon more recently (th-cam.com/video/214qzLRFLGA/w-d-xo.html). The best solution I could find, was to keep the tail down and fly the aircraft off in the 3-point attitude. Not exactly realistic, but it makes a big difference to the aircraft's controllability on the ground (hopefully Aeroplane Heaven will do something to address the issue at some point).
      I hope that helps a little! All the best : )

    Thanks for the review sir. Not sure what the issue is with your sound. I bought this yesterday and all the cockpit sounds worked fine for me including the door closing & latching and the canopy closing. Only thing I ran into was I could not get the Fuel Pressure Cock to work. Instructions say to turn it to carb then engine to pressurize the fuel system. I noted you did not do that but just primed the engine.

      That’s very strange re the sounds then. I picked the Spit up through Orbx, so I wonder if they accidentally uploaded a slightly older dev version of the aircraft there or something. That might explain the prevalence of bugs. . .
      The fuel pressure cock is a bit odd; for some reason you have to click with the middle mouse butting and then right-click. I didn’t use it in the video as 1) I was using a checklist designed for the A2A Spit (with no such fuel cock) and 2) I couldn’t figure it out myself either at the time haha.

    I already have the Flying Iron Spit and enjoy that, but I am a purist and I have a soft spot for the Mk1, living in the town where the Spitfire made its first flight and most of the earlier marks were made nearby and would have all flown out of here so I think I really must get it, but I am going to hold off for a while, hopefully those little bugs will get fixed.

      I think that's a good call though; wait and see what sort of a state the aircraft is in after the first patch or two. It is good fun in its own right at the moment, but it could still use some work / bug fixes.

    Another excellent review! This was an immediate buy for me, BUT.. It's excellent, however, If you can get the fuel pressure control to work, then you're better than I am! Also, the sound set. It's a bit of a curate's egg for me. The start-up sounds really like a Merlin, but after that, nah. The Flying Iron Mk IX kills it for me. And, rolling it....I've held it in prolonged inverted flight, and the engine keeps on keeping on, which I find very surprising. But, the handling has been nailed, and I'm sure they'll patch the things that need attention. All in all, an excellent MKI!

      Haha, the fuel pressure control is a strange one - you have to click and hold it with the middle mouse button and then right-click to operate it, not sure why AH chose to do it that way.
      I will confess I has to look up curate’s egg haha - a good one to know for the future. I know the sounds always divide people, personally I think they’re ok (whilst not the very best I’ve heard).
      I must say I was a bit surprised myself re negative g not killing the engine. AH had it modelled on the preview version of the aircraft. Perhaps they removed the functionality whilst they refine it further (it was somewhat overzealous before).
      Glad you’re enjoying the MK I overall though! All the best : )

    Nice video around my home county, writing this in the CFC Clubhouse at Bodmin. Dont think Bodmin is an ideal Spitfire base though. Seen Harvards in and out with no problem at all, and a Piston Provost that almost scraped a tree at the 13 end! The smallest strip that I have ever seen a Spitfire in was Thurrock years ago, when MH434 was flown in, stopping a few yards from the end, the runway being about the same length as that of Bodmin.

    Maybe the prop over speed is an attempt to simulate the lack of a constant speed prop. Or did the mk 1 have one?

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the version AH have modelled is fitted with the MK III Merlin and a constant speed prop. It’s a good point though, I hadn’t even considered it would be anything other haha. I’m not an expert, but I know the early MK Is has a fixed pitch prop, then moved on to a 2-stage variable pitch. I believe this is a constant speed prop though (fitted thereafter), going off the cockpit controls etc. All that being said, the CSU doesn’t seem to do a brilliant job of actually maintaining the RPM; I suppose this possibly could be accurate, given the age of the technology.
      All things considered, I’d be somewhat surprised if it turns out the prop / engine sounds are accurate in this regard.
      Cheers!

    Now this Spitfire seems like the perfect add on for taking cinematic pictures. Especially when it's sitting on the ground.
    However I kinda feel like FlyingIron's Spitfire is still the better choice. They just nailed the sound on it and that startup still gives me goosebumps.
    Overall Aeroplane Heaven still did a good job with it. Is it enough though to convince people to buy a second Spitfire though?
    Anyways, thanks for the video and review!

      Indeed, it’s very photogenic haha! Right now, FIs version is the most polished, no doubt. The FI version has got about 6 months more development under its belt in fairness, but then again, it also released with fewer bugs. I’m actually not sure which engine sounds I prefer - they both sound quite nice to my ear, even if they are totally different haha.
      I think if one is a massive fan of the Spit, then sure, it’s worth it. For normal people, probably no need to own two. I gather AH are doing a MK V as well; I’ll be picking that one up too haha. That will quite nicely cover most of the major variants then. I like having the different variants in my virtual hangar and seeing what sets them apart (but I realise that’s probably quite a niche desire).

It’s eminently noticeable and if I could find it within 5 mins of using the product, you really would like to see that sort of stuff fixed before release (though this sort of behaviour seems to be all too prevalent these days).

    Thanks for the review! Good stuff as always. I'm not sure about this one, but that's mostly because I already have the FlyingIron Mk IX which is a really nice bird. And whilst I know there's a fair bit of difference between the different marks I dunno if I wanna splash out for another spit, especially as that P-38 might be out soon! Hope someone gives us a decent Hurricane, Typhoon or Tempest at some point. I'm gonna be *that guy* who thinks the sounds aren't that great on this ;-) I'll keep the Mk I on the wishlist though and might get it at some point down the road. A-H have also announced they're bringing the Lockheed Electra to MSFS which I'm looking forward to.
    Bodmin is quite a nice airfield as well. Burning Blue put out really nice products. The day before it was released I was thinking to myself about how it's a shame there's no decent payware GA airfields in the south west (or outside of the south east in general really) so I was quite pleasantly surprised the next day to get an email from Burning Blue about the Bodmin release!
    I did have a bit of a mishap during my first landing there though. I was flying that Caproni jet glider doodad and came in a bit too fast (thing's a bitch to slow down!). It was also a bit on the dark side as I was flying late in the evening so visibility not great. Anyway, (now I have my excuses in) I ran out of runway and turns out runway 03 has a bit of a steep dip right after it so down I went! Was a bit of a struggle to get the thing back up the hill. Cheers!

      Of course; I think yourself and many others fall into the same camp of enjoying the Spitfire they already have. Replying to this actually prompted me to check whether Aeroplane Heaven have updated the product yet - indeed they have; seems they've addressed a lot of issues discussed in the video, which is nice to see. I would certainly love a Hurricane and I'm sure we'll see AH's at some point.
      Haha, you feel free to be "that guy" Megadtypes. As I say, sounds always seem to divide people. I'm definitely not one of these people that knows exactly what a Merlin should sound like, or how many rivets the cockpit door should have etc (not that I have anything against such people - it's just not a skill I possess), so really (a lot of the time) I can only go of best guesses / what looks or sounds convincing. It's not that I thought the sounds here were amazing, but convincing enough I felt.
      I saw the Electra has now been released (of course we had to have three significant releases, whilst I was away with work haha). Currently contemplating whether to take a look at that or not. Much like the Spit, it looks pretty, but it seems as though it has some issues. . .
      Bodmin is indeed a nice little airfield. I like the unusual contours (which one can fall foul of indeed haha) and just the overall ambiance. If it makes you feel any better, I had a very similar experience taking the C22J into a little strip in New Zealand XD
      Happy flying! : )

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations Another thing to keep in mind about sounds is that everyone has different setups from simple monitor speakers, full surround sound setups, gaming headsets or studio monitors and then they're all set up differently with different sound responses etc, so that combined with how subjective sound is to people anyway can lead to quite a lot of different opinions!
      I've been reading various forums and watching some other videos about the Mk 1 Spit and with the patches it is looking more and more promising but with the recent torrent of releases and the upcoming Just Flight Hawk my wallet is feeling pretty light so the Mk 1 will still remain in the maybe pile for now.
      The Electra has been getting quite a mixed reception on the official forums and elsewhere so I'm holding off on that for now as well but I'll keep an eye on it because I'm a huge fan of that period of aviation but there's also the Wing42 Boeing 247 coming out and that looks quite good and I think there's a Beechcraft model er 18 perhaps? in the works by someone too? Can't remember exactly. And of course the Asobo Ju 52. Good times for inter-war aviation fans anyway! I do wish for some more simpler general aviation 30s planes though.
      Glad to hear that even the pros can cock up their landings from time to time as well. Makes me feel a bit less hopeless!

      It's not a bad offering, but the FlyingIron Spit is the more "polished" product overall (which is a shame in a way, as the MKI is just much more beautiful than the MKIX).

    Great review as always. Still waiting for my puffs of smoke on startup.😁 Given how you mentioned you ideally need to wait for the engine to warm up before increasing power, what would happen when planes have to scramble ? • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Stephen,
      My understanding is that where possible, they were kept warm whilst on the ground. I believe the engineers would periodically ground-run them, to get the oil / coolant temperatures up. That way if they needed to scramble, temps were not so much of an issue. I would imagine during the height of the Battle of Britain, the aircraft probably didn’t even have time to cool down at any rate. . .
      As Tomasz states, engine damage / over-temping wasn’t uncommon though (from what I’ve read). Having a 109 on your tail, was probably a very compelling incentive to push the Merlin that little bit too far!!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Boggy,
      On paper, I would say it's probably a fairly easy answer at the moment: The MILVIZ Corsair is by far and away the most complete warbird for the sim. It has nice modelling and texturing, excellent sounds and systems, a very good flight model, not to mention a complete set of weapons (non-operable and only when purchased outside of MSFS). Its a very immersive, very enjoyable and very well-rounded product.
      A close second for me, would be FlyingIron's aircraft. Both the Spitfire and the P-38 are excellent.
      Whilst the Corsair is probably the most accomplished warbird currently available in the sim, if I could only choose one, I might still be tempted to go with the Spitfire personally. I'm a Brit, it's a beautiful aircraft and still very enjoyable.

I've had many Aeroplane Heaven aircraft over the years and they have always been of a very high quality. I am a little disappointed for those who love the venerable Spitfire because this model has so many bugs. None of them are major but together they detract from the experience you fork out good cash for. Hi,
      I presume you’re referring to my comments on the pressure-setting scale being bugged? I’m afraid I’d have to disagree with you on that one: If you’re at altitude (with the QNH set) and then set the altimeter to 0ft, that’s going to lower the reading on the pressure scale.
      Besides, with the altimeter set to aerodrome elevation, it was showing a pressure setting of about 1050 hpa on the scale. The real-world QNH at the time was around 1018; the highest pressure ever recorded in the UK was around 1052 hpa apparently - so I’m pretty confident the scale is bugged (unless I’ve completely misunderstood how to read this specific gauge - but it’s simple enough on any other virtual Spit I’ve come across, as the altimeter generally operates like any other). If it was a one off, I would say perhaps the sims live weather had been dodgy on that occasion, but I’ve seen the same behaviour numerous times in the AH Spit now.
      You’re correct re the heading - I noticed that when watching the video back.
      Cheers

      Yes, quite a few bugs and issues that I wish had been resolved before release. It’s somewhat hard to forgive bugs when they are staring you in the face. I really hope Aeroplane Heaven give the aircraft another go-over and fix up its issues. Engine sounds are obviously not something most of us could accurately comment on; for my own future reference, FlyingIron have that pretty close to the mark then do they?
      I must say, I’m enjoying the addon, but it’s a bit of a “diamond in the rough” in its current state. FlyingIron have certainly done a lot of work to their Spit over recent months, hopefully we’ll see the same from Aeroplane Heaven. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that the A2A Spit will grace our virtual skies once again some day as well.
      Thanks as always! All the best : )

    I wouldn't complain too much about fuel gauges not being accurate. There's not been a single airplane I've flown where the gauge reading is 100% correct. I've had flights up to an hour with the gauges still reading 0 even though I physically checked the fuel to be sufficient.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rhys,
      I certainly take your point, but the gauge inaccuracy was clearly a coding error, as opposed to the simulation of an inaccuracy. The Spitfire gauges are also somewhat unusual, in that they will sit on the zero stops unless the corresponding fuel quantity button is pushed. So from a mechanical standpoint, they shouldn’t read anything other than zero ordinarily (as far as I’m aware). Of course the fuel gauge issue itself isn’t a big deal in isolation - I only highlighted it to make the point, that quite a few basic errors had been allowed through to the final release version.

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations Thank you. I'm still trying to do Apollo 16 now but I ended up with COVID and so now my holiday is comparatively shorter. Regarding the cockpit on this one, I've flown a number different sim spitfires including IL2 1946, Just flight's spitfire for fs9 and of course having the pilot's notes for the real deal. None of them show a cockpit quite like this one. None show a starting magneto, just the starter and booster coil. No known generator switch, a primer that is pushed in to be locked and only ONE fuel gauge. The fuel gauge should be pressed to read either the lower or upper tank rather than what this sim shows. TBH I'm not sure what's going on with this one here.

      To be fair to Aeroplane Heaven, the Spit depicted here is a MK I and the cockpit is accurate for the most part (you’ve probably been looking at the MK V and later by the sounds of it). The starter mag, gen switch and the two fuel gauges are all accurate to the MK I / MK II; I have no idea where the primer came from though - never seen a primer like that in any Spit. Lovely Stuart, I’m sure it was a brilliant day!
      Simming, whilst of course not a substitute for the real thing, is a great pastime in its own right and certainly allows one to experience places / aircraft that they otherwise might not etc. My full setup is in the video description, but in short I’m using a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and Saitek rudder pedals. The former is very good and has fulfilled my simming needs for many years now, the latter has served me for many years, is decent enough for a “cheap” set of rudder pedals, but nothing special. I hope that helps?
      Let me know if you have any more questions / want any more help. I’ve been a lifelong avid simmer and as someone with a huge soft spot for the Spitfire, I’m pretty familiar with all of the different virtual options available.

    Ooh, interior sounds not accurate at all :/
    Also it's insane how many bugs there are with this, and the ailerons being a different glossiness and the rudder pedals being inverted are especially obvious.
    Considering the release of this Spitfire was delayed for the other Mk. IX, I would have expected that with that extra time they'd fix some of these bugs. Was not at all expecting some blatantly obvious ones around... shame :/

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi James,
      Haha, I knew the sounds would divide people. As usual, some seem to like them, some don’t.
      I was a bit disappointed with the number of bugs I must say (especially given how obvious some of them were). Really hoping Aeroplane Heaven do another go-over of the aircraft and fix everything up. In their defence, I will say that the aileron texturing is not a “bug” per say. I believe on the MK Is, the control surfaces were actually canvas, as opposed to metal - hence the different textures. The contrast may be a little extreme on the model, but I think that’s forgivable.
      It was certainly my hope that the delay would be a good opportunity for AH to really polish the aircraft up, but I guess they’ve been working on other projects in the meantime also (not that that’s an excuse). Hopefully they will continue to work on it. I do enjoy the aircraft, but for the asking price, one doesn’t expect such bugs.

      Quite a lot of differences yes, but ultimately I wouldn’t say one is really better than the other, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. At the moment I would say the FI Spit is the more polished of the two (in fairness they have had more time to develop it etc), the AH version does have quite a few bugs that still need fixing.
      If you already own the FI version, unless you’re a die-hard Spitfire fan who desperately wants a MK I, I would say picking up the AH version probably won’t add a tonne extra to your simming experience.

    Love the review. Graphics in the cockpit looks somewhat disappointing. Sounds, I’ve seen and heard different spitfires in real live, sound is to soft and not as sharp as in real live. The Spit looks very warn. Al the Spits I’ve seen were very well maintained. Ground handling in real live is quite a thing. I seen experienced pilots struggle. It has a very narrow landing gear and is a tail dragger. It looks too easy . Overheating is also a risk. Not in this model. Don’t know. There’s some work to do

      Thanks very much Paul!
      Yes, the cockpit is so-so. Nicely modelled for the most part I think, but the textures (overall) certainly aren't groundbreaking. It's a shame the internals don't look quite as good as the externals. Sounds always seem to divide people; once again with this Spit, some people love them, some don't. Personally whilst I don't think the aircraft sounds spot on, I think it's a fairly decent effort.
      The addon does actually come with both historic and modern liveries actually. The modern ones, I believe, are in a more "presentable" condition. I like a bit of wear and tear on my addons though haha.
      Ground handling definitely isn't realistic; I know the Spit is supposed to be a bit of a dog on the ground. Again though, I think it's a decent enough effort, with some concessions obviously made for the sim (for better or worse).
      The engine heating / cooling was a bit disappointing. The engine pretty much stays pegged at 80 degrees whatever one does with it. I must admit, I was kind of expecting that might be the case, but it would have been nice to see otherwise. Hopefully Aeroplane Heaven will continue to work on it. In fairness, FlyingIron didn't get it spot on right off the bat either.
      As you say, overall the addon still needs some work. Hopefully Aeroplane will see to that.

      Hi Prisoner,
      I’m afraid, I can’t give any current advice, not having flown the aircraft in a while however, with the AH Spit, I always found it best to keep the stick fully aft during the takeoff and to more or less liftoff in the 3-point attitude (that helps to keep the aircraft straight and to minimise any swing). Some taildraggers in MSFS, also respond better to rudder deflection ahead of the takeoff. Lastly, try to avoid using full boost / power for the takeoff. All in all, not that realistic but, needs must.
      I hope that helps a little? All the best!
