Fascinating! My late mother used to holiday at Cashlieve House when her Aunt and Uncle (Lewis’s) lived there in the 1930s/40s. She had fond memories of that time. Great to see it lives on!

My ❤️ is in Ireland, my grandad is originally from Wexford, I had family in Fermoy near Cork and I’ve always known Ireland is where I’m supposed to be. My dream will never be reality but there is a part of me that belongs there.

I agree about the benefit of the house being in the middle of the land. When I visited my brother in Ireland, I wanted to view a lovely manor house with land. Unfortunetly, the house was near the main road, with all the land behind it!!

Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too,

investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields.

Do they go for less if there is no interest in the auction? Do they go for a lot more? Learning your insight on the topic of auction listings would be appreciated.

If I bought it - I would fix it up and start a B & B - make money off the property.
I would also get some horses so my guests could take rides around the 60 acres. No point in getting that kind of place if one cannot make it work financially.

So hard to find anything we like for around 100K. We would like a nice bit of space also for the future. I do the same. Pretend the funds are unlimited and look on line for dream homes! Currently looking at lake property in the states but after awhile they all look the same. There is no charm and character like you find in these Irish or English manors.
Having all that land would be incredible! Hopefully a developer doesn’t turn it into condos or some development.
It’s sad here in the States because farmland is sold and made into housing developments all over.

    • @DenisPeel
      @DenisPeel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@alotmorefarms8242 Hi, I am from the next county north which is Sligo and have a little small holding on similar kind of land. It is not suitable for heavy livestock and its not very fertile. On the google earth view you can see that quite a lot of the land surrounding has been planted for forestry (sitka spruce) not a sign of good land. It could be suitable for the likes of Deer or poultry.or organic vegetables and fruit. The house is beautiful and could be run as a guest house and have the land as a nature reserve and then there is Glamping and mabey cabins in the woods to let out. In most cases in Ireland when a farm is for sale it is only the price of the land that matters and the house and buildings are just thrown in so in this case they are valuing the land at just over 3k an acre which is a bit high but then the house is quite special so that might break the rule. I hope this helps you and I hope some one saves this great house. Denis

Looks to be mature woodland. The other building appears to be a ruined stable block. There was a pump in the yard. And I suspect there’s some peat bog just south of the woodland. The land looks low lying and a bit wet.
Absolute heaven for kids. I would’ve lived in the woods like I’d been raised by wolves. Tree house, hut, playing soldiers, ghost hunting, Robinhood heaven.
And weirdly, the next townland is called “Cloonlish or Robinhood”.

No the AMV is the assumed market value and is actually a figure that involves a lot of calculation and research on the auctioneers side. It also needs to be backed up with evidence if the regulator questions it. In a lot of ways it’s still not a great indicator of what a house like this will sell for, because it could go either way depending on who shows up to bid. But it should be a good guide xx

They might be friendly though. Not all ghosts are spooky. Some are very friendly & helpful. Protective even. When I shared a larger house I was woken one night by a quiet & very trustworthy sounding voice telling me that the friend I shared the house with had gone to sleep leaving a candle burning & it was not safe. I went up to the attic where my friend slept & found she had left a candle burning in a little wooden holder, on a rush mat, a few inches under a wooden beam, about four inches from her bedclothes. Listen to those voices, even if you are tired, listen.

Would love to snap up a bargain near the coast. Is it possible to get a decent house under 100k near the sea?

Sure its totally possible! Just stay away from the more expensive counties. Places like Sligo, Clare, Donegal, Mayo & the islands are great for cheap coastal properties. But keep in mind. Each of these areas also have popular tourist villages so you need to avoid these areas or your prices will be the same as the more expensive counties. Xx
