Now this one has potential. My mind is in overdrive over what could be done. Lots of money needed...again...but I can actually see this, with a verandah at the front, a tiny porch at the back, new wiring, plumbing, insulation, a kitchen and bathroom somewhere and a stunning garden. Excellent find.Good luck to whoever takes on this restoration.Just waiting for my farm to sell in Australia and I will be calling Ireland home. No heat, no drought, no bushfires, no snakes...bliss for my autumn years.
I hope whomever this little house chooses to own, restores and loves it! It’s a wonderful little house with so much character! Great video, thank you x
I am able to save this house - it deserves all the love - I can hear Hens clicking, the owl at night, birds tweeting and nesting in restored hedges, worms rising to the rain from restored 'beds', and my good self, applying new lime plaster & fettling that glorious chimney. Thank you for sharing such a sublime place with your loving energy Maggie xxx
I have a little cottage in the same village as this one. Completely off grid, I have a solid fuel range and I'm building a small solar system as we speak. I don't have much, but I adore it.
Which is why I don't understand this. On and on about saving it, why on earth, living nearby, doesn't she buy it, rehab it how she imagines, and flip it? I would love to, but I don't even live in Ireland. I really don't get it. It makes no sense, those homes are in high demand, she could make a lot of money, easily on this one especially with minimal effort, as she kept noting throughout.
I saw this house on the web when it went on. The streetview which is a bit dated showed it to be quite well looked after. Thanks for the tour - adds a lot to the details.
I love this cottage, sitting room is the first big room, bedroom is the orange/reddish room as the fireplace would keep people warm while they sleep, kitchen is room to the right as you walk in, lastly a bathroom in the lean-to in the back. Of course the little bed nook, would be filled with red checked pillows and all my kitties who want to be near a nice fire. I also pray to God that whomever bought it, will preserve it!
I knew so many cottages like this growing up in Donegal , quite often they Were abandoned after a death, and the bed a iron affair with a rail of brass , left outside and always a old crucifix fixed to it
Thank you so much for doing this, sharing your knowledge and encouraging folks trying to find a home! I have learned SO much watching your channel. And your lovely enthusiasm must convince folks - my husband always worries when I watch you that I’ll move us to Ireland!!! You’re a treasure.
a lovely Irish treasure that has withstood the test of time, I do hope it is restored as close to the original but also keeping up to the modern influences, this would certainly make some family very happy, thankyou for the tour... :)
What a gem. That wee place deserves to be sympathetically renovated keeping the original features. It looks to be in sound condition. With that barn and outhouses as well its a bargain. If I was in the market for another place I would take to the road and head up to Mayo first thing in the morning and not come back till I had put in an offer. The biggest expense would be putting in a septic tank and maybe tiling the dairy roof but that could wait.
What a lovely farm house 🏡 I live in Venezuela and if I was living there I put an offer on her she has magic on her. The person who buy it it will be a very fortunate person. Lot of blessings dear one in love and light.
Maggie, it was brilliant to see this house with you for the first time when you saw the outshot I felt like I was there! I wish someone would save it and restore it historically. It is a part of history. I can’t believe someone was living in it right up to 2012! I’m sure it would be easy to get the history of the family for whoever buys the house, to have that background.
When you listed thing's you wouldn't want for it and said "No open plan!" I said "And no bloody down spots!" out loud. I got quite excited too. I'd restore that little beaute as my forever home if I could. And turn the dairy into a little self contained guest house for my friend's. 💜
The absolute quiet of the place is such a delight! **sigh** I'm already dreaming of having the front door open and knitting or spinning in a patch of sunshine...
I am Irish but never been to Ireland but love seeing all the homes that you show and I have the same passion for all the old homes that you show!!!❤️❤️❤️

Oh my Gosh! You are so lucky to be able to look around that house! Thankyou for sharing with us The outside of the house was very deceiving, the inside was FABULOUS! oh my goodness, if only I had the money I'd snap that house up and I'd keep the original designs and as many of the fixtures possible. Oh the doors from my childhood living with my grandparents, oh god this reminds me how much I miss them, there house is still here but has been gutted of everything that reminds me of them 😔
Now that's a question with many answers. I got some quotes for a two room extension with new roof about ten ten years ago and it ranged from twenty two thousand to one hundred and twenty thousand . In the end cost about forty four K.
It looks like all the structure is good, but it just would need plumbing for kitchen and bath and a heater to drive out the damp. The front garden is very nice
Adorable little place! As a child I once had a crucifix exactly like that one, from a visit to York Minster in England. (Beautiful, spiritual place) That hole in the upper roof area of the outhouse is where people used to keep owls, to keep the mice and rats away. 🦉

Reminds me of the "box bed" in the great Hitchcock classic, "The 39 Steps." I'd love to restore a place like that. It would surely welcome all the artistic endeavors I undertake. I would love to have an outbuilding for each! Pottery, Spinning on my spinning wheel, Fiber Dying and Weaving, Basketry, Painting, etc. Of course, my needlework (knitting, crochet, knotting, sewing, etc.) could be done in the main house, by the fire. Otherwise, I would just take it back to original and go with simple, off-grid rustic living. I would certainly remove the cinderblock building and hay barn, perhaps replacing them with period buildings, if needed. Thanks for showing us this treasure!

I would make a doorway between the house and dairy then the size of the house would be perfect, replace the dairy door with a window, that area could be the kitchen. Honest to goodness...a small solar panel for essentials, a composting toilet, and a good scrub and that place is nearly move in ready.
