    My dive instructor told us a story about how he was free diving real deep real long and he began to blackout. He immediately pulled the ripcord on his buoyancy compensator aka BC. He woke up floating on the surface.
    As a result he always recommends using a BC at all times when diving free or tank.
    It looks like the light around you is black and the view gets progressively narrower.
    Our instructor was a former UDT captain in the 50s and 60s. He could stay down for 5 minutes smoked a pack a day and ran a mile.

    Are the flippers essential for deep free diving? I was sorry to read that you won't be going to the Marquesas this May on the boat. I was hoping to see you there! We'll have to meet in LALA the next time you visit family. :)

    • @Sundownersailsagain

      +Slow Boat Sailing yeah you Definitely need fins to dive deep! Are you from La??

  • @alphabeets

    I've been enjoying your videos. I had a question. Since I do not eat any seafood, would I be able to survive comfortably out there? The barbecue looked great but obviously it isn't the norm. Just curious. Thanks.

    • @Sundownersailsagain
      @Sundownersailsagain  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +alphabeets HI! Lots of people out here don't like fish. You just stock up in canned chicken and pork and beef, dried meats, beans, eggs, protein powder, oatmeal etc. Youd be fine:) The veggie boat often has chicken for sale.

    By the way what do the people that can't drink booze do at night on a sail boat??? I'm highly allergic to alcohol...

    • @Sundownersailsagain
      @Sundownersailsagain  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Bobby Baldeagle I don't drink so much either. Just drink water or juice and hangout. Not everyone drinks alot here. We hangout with other boats and talk and/cook and if we are at home we make dinner, watch the beautiful sunsets and read or listen to music. We play board games or cards sometimes. Honestly I never get tired if sitting in the cockpit and watching the anchorage and other boats and the sky change.

    why would barracuda be bad to eat elsewhere?

    • @Sundownersailsagain
      @Sundownersailsagain  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bill j It usually has Ciguatera which is a toxin they accumulate from eating reef fish who eat reefs that have it. If a person eats a fish with Ciguatera they become REALLY sick for a few days to two weeks. But here they don't have that.

      +goboats yes we have enough money, Patreon is to help fund future videos as they are time consuming and expensive to make with the gear and upload costs. We provide an entertainment service and people can tip us if they want. It helps give us incentive to keep sharing our lives with you. Read on our Patreon site for a full explanation of what Patreon is for.

      +elireloaded They were the crew. They pay a bit of money each day, like $10 or $15 dollars and then you work on the boat, cooking, cleaning, helping with boat projects.
