We interrupt our scheduled island programming to bring you a semi-live Christmas update from way out here off the coast of Panama. Tate and I wanted to share in the spirit back home. Even though we live at anchor, without even pressure water, we still enjoy the Christmas activities around the anchorage.
We have a beach fire and potluck on the Kuna Island (BBQ Island) and visit a few boats for meals and drinks including Scott and Caroline who are in a 42' ocean going trawler all the way from Baltimore! I show a tour. Check em out online here:

Great vid. That is the very island we used to stay at as kids. It has since become an island for yachties. Back in the day, that's where my dad stayed. My dad grew up with the Kunas. Spent many summers with them. Only guy I know that sailed for 2 days in a dugout Cayuca, back and forth to cristobal. They would always know when he was there. Used conch shells to communicate. Good to see the old island.

Sundowner Sails Again Indian? You think? To funny. Born and raised in the Panama Canal Zone. Did quite a bit of fishing and spear fishing. However, my dad, a Baltimore boy, went to panama as a kid. Grandpa was a tool maker for the Canal ops. His first time to cristobal, got on a boat and sailed to San blas. Grandpa bout rung his neck when he finally caught up to him. Loads of great stories. A little research on the Canal Zone and you'll see there was quite a few of us Gringos that lived in that wonderful place. BBQ island is the island. Swam through those areas your in now. It is beautiful.

+Bobby Baldeagle omg...that boat is amazing. Scott built it himself. The hull is made with 1960s airplane aluminum. They did so much work to that boat and its gorgeous! I have it in an upcoming video In action.

Just started following you guys. Great videos! Really appreciate your work making them. Living the dream! If you are around St. Thomas in June come watch my fiance and I get married at Abi beach. 6-20-17 10am. The more the merrier! I invited prism gang as well as searching for c-shells crew. I live in WA state and we plan on getting a boat in five years and enjoy watching the videos and giving us ideas and making us dream about our future. Happy New Year!

Hey, Nate and Dani, You mention that Sundowner was getting low on propane. How far do you have to travel to refill and get general provision? What did you think of the coconut water? When I lived in Brazil I would drink fresh coconut water (they call it milk) all the time. Great video, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.
+Paul Chandler Hi, Tate and I have guests coming all of January so we are conserving our propane. We carry two 17lb tanks with USA fittings so the only way to fill them here in San Blas is to go 10 miles to the Lemmons Cays and go onto an island where we we had it filled last year. They have to gravity fill our bottle with a local "Tropi gas" bottle. We have one on board of that we can send to shore to be replaced in case they dont have any on the island...so you can see it takes a bit of time but we don't have to travel far:)

+Kraals hi! I grew up in Pontchatoula, spent 6 years in Baton Rouge and then the last 8 were spent in New Orleans with the boat, hence the sailing port. I was the Budget Manager for the University Medical Center, Charities "replacement" for 6 years before we left. Do you still Iive in the City?

+rjr 4949 We just have foot and hand pumps because they are easy, don't break and help us regulate water usage. We made Sundowner a super low maintenance boat.
Well, that's no fun. So..... you miss out on working inside a small locker somewhere trying to replace a pump, with one hand, you replaced just two months ago. What are you guys thinking???? Merry Christmas!!!
