- We opted for a bit of spooky fun - even if it's not October yet.
But when Netflix releases another series from the epic storyteller we know and love that is Neil Gaiman, you KNOW we had to turn our attention that direction! This is a first time reaction for both of us! So, we'll be learning about this one together. However, with that being said, Baz has watched all of the preceding Gaiman properties (Good Omens & The Sandman) so he has a grasp of what the aesthetic and production values the Gaiman universe brings to the table.
Looking forward to diving deeper into this world and finding out what it's all about - and if it's truly tied to the Gaiman larger works or not.

Quick note! Mary Ann is an old derogatory term used to describe gay men. So Edwins peers basically committed a hate crime. This detail makes the line "my disappearance was considered an act of god" in Edwins breakdown more impactful. Genuinely horrible situation all around.

Edwin and Crystal have a very similar style of antagonistic bitchiness. Charles just happens to enjoy it, so he's having a double amount of fun listening to them hiss at each other.
Death is the same actress as in Sandman.
They referred to Edwin as "this Mary Ann." It's a derogatory term. And Kirby isn't the cat. It's the actress that plays Death in this and Sandman.
I watched this on a whim about week after it was released and I just loved it immediately. It's one of my favorite things I've watched this year. I loved the world and the aesthetic, but it's the characters that just really shine. And not just the good guys(who are all great)! Esther the witch is just so deliciously evil. She revels in being evil! It's so entertaining and feel like it's a type of villainy that's not very common nowadays. I love sympathetic antagonists, but there's something to be said for unapologetic villains, too.
Only Edwin escaped from Hell. Charles never crossed over to anywhere after he died. He chose to stay put. I believe he said he had unfinished business earlier in the episode? Well, both of them have unfinished business, really.

This show is all kinds of feel-good cool spooky mysteries. The cats are the best part 🐈
They said they had to hide from Death because she would send them to the afterlife and they would be split up.

I don't think Anne Rice's son, Christopher, ended up not having involvement in the show. He and Anne Rice had executive producer credits, but he has told people asking about the show on his Facebook to contact the showrunner, not him. Take that how you will.
The edition of The Sandman that you mention at the end - are you talking about Absolute Sandman? I have all of those and they are gorgeous! Love love love this show, hope to see more!
