  • This is quite a unique type of plane, BUT it has some issues. while it is similar to its older and bigger brother the XK X520,it can have some problems when switching between modes.Check out this video to see what you think .Link attached www.banggood.c...

Hey Dave, looks like you've covered it all there. Lot of fun, BUT....
Reminds me of when we moved from our first light Syma X5c type quads to heavier Syma X8 versions, We bought a lot of spares (Motors, Gears, Props and Prop Guards) that have hardly been touched over the years. We now have 5 of these and initially bought no spares - so there's been a lot of sittin' & waitin' lately. 😢
Lot of fun, but when you put it in your cart be sure to add at least several sets of spare props, front motor servos (recommend metal gear types but still not bulletproof) and plastic motor mounting hardware! You WILL need them for this!
Your X520 looks like mine! But they keep on trucking hey? 😀

theoztreecrasher very sound advice, it’s a bundle of fun but far from perfect , our old reliable 520 is definitely more robust 👍

This is an amazing little aircraft which, with its gyro, will look after itself in hover mode. As an experiment I put about 320gm on its back (more than its own weight) and it took off ok, so a 100gm or so of fpv isn't going to bother it at all! One problem I had with mine was that the fore and aft control in hover mode stopped working (at the Tx, I think, as it showed no % for that function) so had to manouvre with rudders (Left stick) and sideslipping.

Crikey, 320 grams is some going , thanks for that info 👍

You had a camera and an extra battery on the airplane! That’s why it was getting unstable!

Hi, thanks for your comments, that small battery was attached to power a little fpv camera

@@rcpilots1291 I've heard this plane could use a little nose weight in airplane mode, if anything. Did that rear-mounted battery make it hard to handle? Have you flown in airplane mode with it off?

I wonder if i can take the electronics out minus speed control and motor solder on a bigger 1100kv motor bigger speed control onto a bigger scale of this plane i am in development as of now using wings off of a glider and carbon fiber reinforcement frame and i have 3d printed connector parts custom sized and made etc? What is your oppinion of it? Do you kno what kind of flight control board it is?.

Bill I've made canard and conventional tail versions of X-Vert and having a devil of a time doing that with parts for an XK-520. I'd love to share notes with you on conversions. My email is my name at roadrunner dot com. I also have an XK-450. No plans for conversion for that one.

Nice Bill lemon I've been thinking about this for over a year and have had a few prototypes but been trying to from scratch with inav and gps. Been a head scratcher. Would love to have a chat about your project. Any any setbacks you have worked through, vice versa. Cheers mate
