The X80 is GREAT! Took it on a 14 day vacation. Very easy to use on selfie stick. Photos were great both in and outdoors. Zoom was excellent for such a small camera. Would recommend to all.
I have the same camera and really like it! I've shot a couple videos with it. I love being able to go into the manual mode on the control dial and adjust all of the settings such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and all of that good stuff. I'm still trying to get familiar with using it, but overall it's a good camera. Good choice and great video!
i'm pretty impressed with the optical image stabilization of this camera. where i come from it's currently on sale, so i might get it one. thanks for the in-depth review, it was the by far the best i found on youtube.
Thank you. Got ours for our upcoming trip to Italy. I wanted something that was small and took good pictures AND video. There were so many to chose from. Settled on this. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
I bought the HX80 partly due to your review yesterday. I have to say (being pretty fussy, and spoiled by my two RX100 cameras and Lumix LX100 with one inch and over [LX100: 4/3]) that I'm quite pleased with it, and I think it performs better than most 1/2.3 sensor cameras. I think Sony somehow does something to enhance the performance of an otherwise small sensor. My favourite camera is my Sony RX100VA, but I like that the HX80 has the high zoom, and can perform quite well in daylight and even a bit of (not 'too' low) low light. It is even very similar in size, weight and feel to an RX100. Other than not having 4K (which a lot of people don't bother with anyway) as well as a smaller sensor, you could almost compare it to a very bare bones, no frills RX100VII! But the RX100VII is probably three times the price. My RX100VA is over twice the price of the HX80. But I love that I can just grab this little camera and go, and if I scratch it, or it get the occasional little knock, I'm not going to panic like I would with one of the RX100s! Mind you, for special trips (like when I've gone to London a couple of times) I would bring the RX100, and maybe the HX80 too- mainly for zooming now and again. Oh yeah- great grip too!
thanks for the review! i just got this camera and im really loving it too :) the flip up screen is a huge plus in a world full of selfies lol and the wifi transfer is a big thumbs up! Theres a setting to take off the 3 sec timer btw :) (Menu>under SETTINGS ICON>scroll to 2 and its under Self-portrait/-timer)
Caleb Morse Do you have it on factory settings, or the "MR" setting on the dial? That seemed to be what caused it for me. now I have the file format set on MP4 and record setting on 1920x1080 60p 28M and have had no problems since, as long as I use the regular movie mode on the dial. I hope that made sense! Let me know if that fixes your issue!
Zoë Tauxe I have it on the factory settings. For some reason it doesn't show that twitch in the playback but as soon as I start to edit or even upload the twitch appears. I will try to tinker with the settings tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, I'll let you know how it goes.
@Underdog I think the fact that it was my first video on a new SD card is a very likely explanation for why the flickering happened! I've never had an issue with it since. Thanks for the insight!
hi zoe! Thank you so much for this video! I'm thinking about buying this camera to improve the quality of my vlogs, and this was super helpful to me. The audio of the camera was a lot better than I expected here, I was pretty happy with it. In other reviews I've watched of this camera the audio was pretty bad. Were you just using the audio from the camera??I'm really surprised to how good it sounds!!!! again, thank you!
I'm a couple of years late to this but am looking for a cheaper, yet still good, camera for vlogs. Using my dslr is just ridiculous so I've been using my phone. Thanks so much for the thorough review with the unicorn, test footage, and comparison to your older camera. I was leaning toward this vs the Canon sx730 but your video def pushed me completely in the direction of Sony. I'll be purchasing one as soon as I can. I played around with both tonight at Best Buy and really love the compact feel of the Sony for my smaller hands. Really great review, truly! 😊
I have an issue with the auto focus on intelligent auto mode while clicking pictures that are far away. Can you please let me know if you made any changes in the settings for this? Did you come across this issue. Thanks.
Have you tried pushing the button to shoot just half-way down? That usually helps it to focus, even if something is far away. If that doesn't help, then I'm not sure - sorry!
Thank you for your presentation hello from Atlanta Georgia the hx80 I'm impressed the Audio Mic sounds good from the camera amazing and the pictures are beautiful brilliant colors real to life thank you for sharing this great video enjoy your camera
Thanks for the review, it is helpful, how do you find it so far in usage ? ,Any cons so far? How do you find the AF during zoom? From Sony website, they mention you should be able to control focus from front ring of the camera, does it not have ?
I think the audio quality on it, without a mic (because it does not have an external mic port), has been fine for what I need. I have had no problems with it, but I may want to test out the wind noise reduction a little bit more for when I am outside. So, for the purposes I am using this camera for (main channel videos, vlogging, etc.) the audio has been fine. I am not sure what you are planning to use it for, but if you want better audio, or at least a camera with an external mic port, then you may have to look elsewhere because these small cameras usually do not come with that feature. Hope that helped! Thanks for watching!
I bought this camera for a vacation and it's amazing. if you download the play memories app to the camera and your smartphone you can completely control it from your phone. It's quite a good camera.
Hi. Great review, thanks. Do you know of any good point and shoot cameras with a lower f stop number? I am looking for one which goes down in to the 1.8 range, as I understand that these are better for lower light conditions. But I want a compact one that I can carry around, so a DSLR or even mirror less is probably too big.
I don't know of any - sorry! I'm not a huge camera person - I just reviewed this one since I got it, but it is one of the only cameras that I've actually had a lot of experience with. Hope you find one though!!
Hello I just bought this camera today and it’s my first camera purchase as well I need some help with the recording part we can’t use flash while recording movie ? If so how could I record without it looking so dark even in my room with clear lights on it looked like I had them turned off 😕 I’m trying to vlog our trip to Mexico and it will mostly be night time recordings any tips help? 😕
To my knowledge, I don't think you can use flash while recording. However, you can probably turn up the ISO to make the image appear lighter? Sorry that doesn't really help, but I hope you figure something out!
this video was helpful! Now that you've had it for a while what do you think? Do you still love it? I have a few questions im hoping u can answer....hows the depth of field? Does it automatically adjust when you move (while vlogging)? Have you played with the aperture and shutter speed more? If so what are you're thoughts?
I do still really love it! The depth of field is good and I can have close things focused while having the background blurred. It also does adjust the auto focus while vlogging - for instance, keeping track of my face. I have not played much with aperture or shutter speed.
Thanks for your review! I am very confused! Which one choose Sony HX80 or Canon SX730 HS? I love taking pictures and not interested in video and do not know which camera should I choose? please help.
I'm not very familiar with the Canon one, but after a quick search, they look extremely similar - price, zoom, size, flip-up screen, etc. I think that no matter which one you choose you will get a great camera!
Unfortunately, it does not have an external mic input. Most cameras like it do not have this feature (e.g. Canon G7X, Sony HX90V, etc.). The audio is pretty good without it, though. Thanks for the comment and question :)
Oh decent audio. You know just today I did a vlog test with my Panasonic G7 but its too bulky to be walking in the streets with that. Looking into that camera of yours. Maybe Ill make up my mind and add vlogs to my channel.
Great video! Helped a lot! I've been debating getting it or not and this is helping. Question: How did you get it for cheaper? I can't only see prices for $360+.
Glad it helped! I got it for cheaper because I got it certified refurbished. Here it is on Amazon for only $338: amzn.to/2utQ2uK - I think that's a great deal!
And that glitchy problem you mentioned earlier seems to have been throughout the video process. I plan on having my camera on a tripod. Do you think I'll still suffer the same issue?
That's a good question - I had actually never noticed that before. Now that I have had this camera for about 9 months, though, I can tell you that I have never had a problem with that. Not sure what caused it, but thank you for pointing that out.
Hmm... You didn't change any settings or anything? Make sure you have flash mode on autoflash (Under the camera settings #2 - Flash Mode). Then it should work any time you have the pop-up flash out, but it also may not flash if it already detects the image as bright enough. Hope that helps!
"Flash Mode" is not hi-lighted and says "Flash Off". When I click on Flash Mode it says "This operation or setting not available as follows - then Drive Mode not hi-lighted. I tried it in a dark room and it would not flash. Do I need to charge the Flash?
That's very weird that it says it isn't available.. I have no idea why it would do that. I'm sorry I can't be of more help! I hope it works itself out!
What memory chip are you using to be able to use 60p 28m? Thanks! I have the same camera but I am on the setting right below it and the video quality isn't the best. Thanks!
Oh ok so your aspect ratio might just be a little off. Try going to settings and "Record Setting". It should be on 1920x1080 60P 28M to get the best quality and correct aspect ratio. If that doesn't work, possibly check your aspect ratio for the image settings. This should be 16:9. Hope that helps!
the audio sounded amazing, that is the main problem with my current camera, so I am looking for a camera with good audio and clear picture. would you recommend this camera?
I have not tried it for that specifically, but I'm sure it would, especially if you have it on a tripod. The zoom on this camera is incredible and is one of the main reasons I like it so much.
Hi I just recently purchased this camera and was super excited about it because I recorded a video and it came out really good but it turns out I can't transfer the videos to my computer or iPad can you please help how you transfer them to edit them? Thank you
Check the setting on the camera for the file format that it is saving to. I have mine set to MP4 because basically any device will accept that. Hope that helps!
This is not the first unboxing of this camera and she never claimed it was. The HX80 does not come with a wrist strap attached! Just so everyone knows.....still a good video. I have one of these and it makes a great pocket camera when I do not want to carry my A6500 and all its lenses. If I break this camera, I'm not out the money like I would when using a RX100 IV or V. That plus the zoom and it makes a great carry around pocket camera. I did have an HX20 and this is a great improvement of image quality and functionality along with the screen able to be faced forward.
When recording video, I only ever use the "Movie" mode, usually on program auto. I believe the intelligent vs. superior auto modes are for taking pictures, and have honestly found no difference in quality of the image between the two, so feel free to use either one. I personally use MP4 over AVCHD just because I am more familiar with MP4, and I know it can be viewed in pretty much any media player and can be read by any editing software (that I know of). So, in that instance, I stick with what I know, and thus stick to MP4. However, I would recommend possibly recording in both and comparing the video, then you can see if there are any noticeable differences in quality (or file size) that may lead you to prefer one over the other. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Wow that helps a lot thank you! Your video really persuaded me to get it after debating it and I love it so far! Thanks for all the info and the fast reply!
Hi guys, do you think this is better than Pixel 4 especially when zooming in the taken photos captured at night? Im stuck of getting this or Pixel 4. I want something that offers a lot of details from photos taken at night. I do love Xenon flash as well.
Great video, thanks! Are you still using the camera? Could u tell me if it is normal that the objective of the HX80 doesnt move out smooth and constant? When i start the camera, the objective is kinda lagging after 1/3 of the lenght for a short period of time! is this common?
Yes, I am still using the camera. I don't know what an "objective" is specifically, but I have also noticed that it is sometimes not that smooth when moving. I don't know if this is common thing among HX80s because I only have mine for reference, but I will say that I usually find it is not that much of a problem, and I don't notice it unless I'm paying close attention.
Thanks for the fast answer :) sorry for my bad english, i did mean the lens of the camera. When the camera is off and u press the on/off button, the camera doesnt drive the lens out with a constant speed. Do you know what i mean? It just appears (always) when turning on the camera, zooming from wide angle into fully zoom works fine also shutting down the camera moves the lens smooth
Oh hmm I've never noticed anything weird about the lens before. There must be some mechanical reason why it doesn't move at a constant speed when it comes out, but I'm sure that it's normal.
I'm sorry I never saw this comment until now! I'm not sure why it would look fine when filming but then show up fuzzy when it's on your computer :( I'm sorry! Did you ever fix the problem?
I think it seems pretty durable, and mine still looks, works, and functions as it did the first day, but I have never dropped it or anything, so I'm not sure how it would survive a fall (and I won't test that :P). I do have a case for it so I can carry it around, which I may suggest getting if you are afraid about it getting damaged. I have this case from Amazon, which fits it very snug: www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-DCB-302-Compact-Camera/dp/B003F7DWH8/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1472526580&sr=8-7&keywords=small+camera+case
I believe I recorded it in MP4 file format (possibly AVCHD? - whichever one it is set as in factory settings), but I know I was not recording in XAVC-S because I don't have a compatible memory card yet for that setting :)
ok cool thanks for response. For my channel, I have been using my 20v model from Sony Cyber shot and figured it was time to get a newer camera as it did amazing for getting me going.
This is a really great and pocketable camera for vlogging and taking high-quality pictures. I even use it for my main (non-vlogging) videos, and it's fine for that too. Best deal for me right now as I'm not ready to invest in an expensive DSLR-type camera, so I use this one for everything.
Hey ! The sound for this camera is quite low, how do I increase the sound of the videos I record so I don't have to sit so close to the camera ! Thank you !!
Zoë Tauxe hi, thank you for replying !! I've just found out that the sound of the video will increase once it is imported onto a computer !!! Hallelujah ☺️
I have those glitches on ALL of my video, just got the camera yetseray:( You said it was from the battery being loose but ive checked and rechecked mine. I can't find anything else about this anywhere and I wish I could figure it out!
Try private messaging me and I would love to work through this issue with you! I tried giving a long reply or messaging you, but it wouldn't let me post anything.
Just know that it may take me a while to reply though because I can only reply when I have internet, and I am currently sailing around the world studying abroad and only have some internet when I come into port every week or so. Sorry!
Thank you for this review! One thing I would say from watching this video it that the camera seems to be more better quality for taking photos (after seeing the pictures you took) rather than videoing. However, for the price of it I feel you can't go wrong.
I must say that I have really enjoyed this camera so far. I use it for all of my videos (sit-down style and vlogging), and it is great for both. I think it was definitely worth the investment, and it is a great all-around camera. It also takes really great photos! I am not sure on what your intent is for its use (photos, videos, vlogging, etc.), but it is pretty good at everything :). Also, even though I have been using it for several months now, I have not noticed any difference in performance than I did the first day I bought it, so so far it has aged well! Let me know if you have any particular questions about the camera that I might be able to answer. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it! :)
Thank you so much for commenting so quickly! I am planning on using this camera for vlogs since I've just been using my phone. I record all my other videos on a Nikon DSLR but that camera is definitely not meant for vlogs!
Just got this camera today thanks for the awesome review. I purchased it at Best Buy also and if anyone is in the market they are running an awesome promo right now you get the camera for 338. 20.00 certificate to Shutterfly actually 2 of them a free sandisk ultra plus 32gb sad card an extra battery and a 40.00 gift card. So yeah you get all those freebies right now with the purchase of this camera. I don’t know if it’s nationwide or not but it’s in the Denver metro area atleast. I’m sure it’s gotta be nation wide the sales guy didn’t even know about the offer till I mentioned it so he obviously didn’t know when the deal would be over so if your thinking of this camera act fast it truly is a nice camera. This is coming from a DSLR user who was just looking for a point and shoot to make videos with and start a TH-cam channel with it won’t replace my DSLR anytime soon but the quality in the videos and on the images really surprised me a lot I didn’t expect it to be that good from suck a small Lil guy. Thanks again Zoe for the awesome review and keep making your videos!!
+Drew tutwenty Thanks!! I was at Best Buy yesterday too and went and took a look at it and noticed how cheap it was - especially for such great quality! I've used this camera for over a year and love it! Thanks for the info about the awesome deal!!
+varun singh (I am posting the answer to your question as a separate comment because it will not let me reply to your comment directly, but you brought up some great questions!) The only con I would give it is that the overall quality is not as good as I was hoping. I suppose that is due to the smaller sensor size compared to most other, more expensive vlogging cameras. The auto focus seems to still work fine during zoom. The Sony HX90V has a control focus front ring while the HX80 does not. If that is something that you are looking for in your next camera purchase, then I would consider spending the extra ~$70 to purchase the HX90V. If you don't care too much about the ring or GPS, then I would suggest saving money and getting the HX80. Hope this helped :) thanks for watching!
Thanks! It has worked well for me since I got it - small but good quality. Definitely worth it for the price compared to other cameras like it on the market :)
I saw your previous comment as well. That is odd that yours looks more fuzzy. In this video, I left all of the settings alone in all of my beginning shots because I wanted it to be a true first impression with the camera's factory-set settings. I shot in the "movie" mode with Program Auto. I now usually use the Aperture Priority mode on movie, as well as shoot 1920x1080 30p 16M. I would possibly play around with the setting a bit more, and if the quality still does not look good, maybe think about returning it for a new one? I know Best Buy is good about that kind of stuff, but I don't know where you bought yours from and what the return policies are. Let me know if you have any more questions or concerns - I hope it works out for you!
Hello, I recently purchased this HX-80 after seeing your videos and other ppl good review about this :) but now im hating it!! when I record my vlogs it seems to be dark and not HD :( I need hlp pls to what is the best HD setings for vlogging with HX-80. Thanks :) Love your vid BTW :D
Oh no I'm sorry! If it is dark, my first thought is possible a low setting in ISO. Also, here is a helpful video that I used to find good settings for the camera: th-cam.com/video/CvI5VnQiFD0/w-d-xo.html - I would suggest going through this and playing with the settings a little bit to see if any of that fixes the problem. I hope it works out!
I know you said the main con of the camera is that its quality is not as good as you expected. Would you still recommend this camera for vlogging? Or would you recommend one with a larger sensor? I'm trying to find a good vlogging camera! Thank you! :)
After I have been using this camera for several months now, I would definitely recommend it for vlogging. To get one with a larger sensor, it would be several hundred dollars more, and I am glad I didn't because I don't think it would be worth it. I love the feel of this camera while vlogging (very comfortable to hold), plus it has amazing zoom - much better than the Canon G7X. I do not notice a huge difference in video quality with this camera compared to ones with a slightly larger sensor - they both shoot 1920x1080. I think the main difference with the sensors would be a difference in low-light conditions, so if you plan to vlog a lot at night then I would recommend one with a larger sensor. Otherwise, I honestly don't think it will make a noticeable difference. Hope that helps! :)
Zoe, I don't own this camera and I am planning to buy one. I have a doubt that you set the resolution on 1080i instead of 1080p. I expect a lot better video out of a camera at this price range.
I am not very familiar with the Canon SX60 HS, but I will say that this camera takes really great photos. The pop-up view-finder and flash are also nice features it has that help taking nice photos.
If you guys would like to buy this camera on Amazon, here's a link!: amzn.to/2utQ2uK

Wow, the audio jumped up when you switched. Love that!

Just bought this camera an really enjoyed your review of it. Thanks!

I found the setting haha! Thank you! :)
constant flickering on the right - what is that?
I think it was something in the settings, but I have not had a problem with it since that first time.
Zoë Tauxe do you know exactly what was causing it? I got the exact same camera and it's causing my footage to flicker the same way.
Caleb Morse Do you have it on factory settings, or the "MR" setting on the dial? Yes, the audio is just from the camera, and I think it's great! Which is good because there is no external mic port to use anyway haha!
Fantastic review. Keep up the good work. 👌
What video mode did you have this in while shooting the sample videos?
It was all factory settings and in the Movie mode
I'm a couple of years late to this but am looking for a cheaper, yet still good, camera for vlogs. Using my dslr is just ridiculous so I've been using my phone. I just realized... I commented on this very video a year ago... but I don’t remember watching it. Great stuff! 👍
I just bought the HX80 and am a true beginner. Thanks for your helpful video!
This is a great review! Purchasing this tomorrow, I'm excited! Thank you for this video!
one of the best reviews I've seen on TH-cam thanks
This video has helped a lot in the purchase of a small camera.
Wow, your cat is big ;).Love the different colors. Thanks for the video.
thanks for your review.
very helpful.

I used the sound from the camera.
Thanks for the review. How did you speed up certain items in your video? Does this camera have a speed up function?
I sped up the footage when editing. The camera itself does not have an option for this, to my knowledge.
Life with Zoë Thanks for getting back to me.
Hey Zoë I'm thinking about buying the camera and I wanted to know is there a way to make the audio better or does it sound good without like a mic?
I think the audio quality on it, without a mic (because it does not have an external mic port), has been fine for what I need. +Willie Peck Thanks!
thanks, just got one of these on bay for 275... the flip up screen helps and the 60fps make it even more fun ! thanks !
Hi. Great review, thanks. Do you know of any good point and shoot cameras with a lower f stop number? No problemo. Thanks for your reply!. I actually have enjoyed the HX80 so far. At some point I will look into another one for lower light conditions.
Good job on explaining the camera. Loved your vid .
this video was helpful!
@@LifeWithZoeee thank you
wow that audio switched up nice. good video.
Thanks this helped and where did you get your tripod from?
It was forever ago, but I'm pretty sure I just got it on Amazon :)
Hey thanks for the review! This was very helpful!
What are your settings for vlogging? My vids don't have the same quality as yours and I have the same camera. Am I doing something wrong !?
I used the setting recommended in this video to help me out: th-cam.com/video/CvI5VnQiFD0/w-d-xo.html. I hope that helps!
Thanks a lot for the great review! I think I'm going to get this camera. Does it have an external mic input?
Unfortunately, it does not have an external mic input. Most cameras like it do not have this feature (e.g. Canon G7X, Sony HX90V, etc.). The audio is pretty good without it, though. Thanks for the comment and question :)
Zoë Tauxe Thanks for the quick response! I'll probably get it anyway. Have a great day! :)
Is that the on board mic or you using an external mic? I have a bulky Panasonic G7 but im considering a small unit for vlogging.
I'm using the mic with the camera - not an external mic. It's great for vlogging! :)
Oh decent audio. You know just today I did a vlog test with my Panasonic G7 but its too bulky to be walking in the streets with that. Looking into that camera of yours. Maybe Ill make up my mind and add vlogs to my channel.
That’s how you do a review. A+
This review was amazing and thorough thank you so much!!! Just ordered the camera on Best Buy can't wait to play with it 😍
Thank you so much for watching :) I'm glad you liked it! I hope you love your new camera!!
did u use a mic for the camera? Because the audio is on point and whenever I record the audio sucks..
I do not have a mic. Maybe something is wrong with yours? Or something is off in the settings? I hope you figure it out!
A late post, but do you mind sharing the camera setting you are using when vlogging?
I got the same camera, but did not find the settings I like :-/
th-cam.com/video/CvI5VnQiFD0/w-d-xo.html I used this video to help me out with that! :)
Life with Zoë thank you. I'll have a look at it.
When you put your battery all the way in was it not like that on the side anymore?
I have never had issues with the flashing since that first initial time.
Is it possible to connect an external mic to the ac adapter (USB port?) I'm not camera savvy, so my vocabulary is extremely limited on tech talk :/
And that glitchy problem you mentioned earlier seems to have been throughout the video process. I plan on having my camera on a tripod. Do you think I'll still suffer the same issue?
I have not had a problem with the glitches since that first day! It was just something weird in the settings, I think. Don't worry about it!
Was the lag your editor or the camera? because there was some at a few parts like 12:15
That's a good question - I had actually never noticed that before. Now that I have had this camera for about 9 months, though, I can tell you that I have never had a problem with that. Not sure what caused it, but thank you for pointing that out.
Thank You for video. Maybe you can help with flash function. I worked until yesterday, now when I pop up flash, it isn't working.
Thanks for help.
Thanks!
I use a 32GB SDHC card from SanDisk. Hope that helps!
Hello,
I was wondering how do you make your cameras full screen on TH-cam with that camera? I am having a hard time figuring that out.
I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean like HD quality?
Zoë Tauxe When I upload my videos on you tube I often get a black border instead of it covering the whole area like yours
Zoë Tauxe Thank you
the audio sounded amazing, that is the main problem with my current camera, so I am looking for a camera with good audio and clear picture. would you recommend this camera?
I've never had any issues with the audio on this camera!
Hey i have this question so dose the zoom of the camera work for really far seats for a concert
I have not tried it for that specifically, but I'm sure it would, especially if you have it on a tripod. The zoom on this camera is incredible and is one of the main reasons I like it so much.
Zoë Tauxe thx so u think it would work from far away seats
Do you know if it's better to use intelligent auto or the superior auto when recording video? And also do you recommend using AVCHD or MP4?
I've had it for about a year now and love it as well! Glad you enjoy it :)
does it have a quick exposure change when ur in selfieode? or do you have to go into the menu?
thanks
You can if you are in the manual exposure setting (M on the dial). Otherwise, it will usually set the exposure automatically for you.
There must be some mechanical reason why it doesn't move at a constant speed when it comes out, but I'm sure that it's normal.
thaaaanks
Great review!
I'm thinking of buying this camera. You spoke on the Canon G7X. What cameras do you think are best for vlogs and videos?
+Eusa Maciel I think they are both very similar, so I would recommend the Sony because it is about half the price of the Canon.
Thank you for your answer. But the Canon does have mic input?
+Eusa Maciel Yes, I believe so. However, I have never felt the need to plug in an external mic on the Sony anyway because the audio is good as it is.
Thank you, but I will do some vlogs on the street and there will be noises.
1. The 80 is older the 90 is newer and better.
2. I use the 90 on the street lots and you can here me.
The audio is very good. There's a real diffrence between your old camera and the sony when you're switching.
I got the camera but my footage seems to be fuzzy like it's not as clear as yours once I upload it to my computer am I doing something wrong?
I'm sorry I never saw this comment until now! I'm not sure why it would look fine when filming but then show up fuzzy when it's on your computer :( I'm sorry! Did you ever fix the problem?
Thx for the review Zoë!
I'm pretty sure I'll be getting this camera. My only problem is deciding whether I should get the warranty or not. How durable is it?
+Zoë Tauxe Yeah, don't do that haha. Good job on the video, and thanks for the help.
Thanks for watching :) I hope you enjoy your camera!
did you record the source material in Xvac-s for 60 fps?
Love that audio quality for a $300 pocket cam
Hey ! The sound for this camera is quite low, how do I increase the sound of the videos I record so I don't have to sit so close to the camera ! Thank you !!
I'm not sure :/ I haven't had that issue. As long as the room is quiet, it should pick up everything... sorry I can't be of more help!
Zoë Tauxe hi, thank you for replying !! I've just found out that the sound of the video will increase once it is imported onto a computer !!! Hallelujah ☺️
This is a super helpful review! What do you use to edit with?
Windows Movie Maker!
I agree! I plan to use it for both :)
good review, I need one for my travel which is not my phone or my gopro....I think this one will do
Thanks :) I hope you like it!
I'm planning on buying this camera today! I was wondering what your thoughts are for this camera now that you've been using it for a few months (:
Awesome! It's a great vlogging camera :) very easy to hold, and it is pocketable!
I love you zoe, keep up the amazing work.I love you!
Thanks for the info about the awesome deal!!
thank u! just bought it at BEst Buy

(I am posting the answer to your question as a separate comment because it will not let me reply to your comment directly, but you brought up some great questions!)
The only con I would give it is that the overall quality is not as good as I was hoping.
Zoë Tauxe
The video was really helpful!
Thank you so much for this review! I'm deciding/thinking about getting this one for my channel...
Thanks! It has worked well for me since I got it - small but good quality. Definitely worth it for the price compared to other cameras like it on the market :)
Hi, what kind of SD memory do you use ??? I have this camera!
+Un Nuevo Viaje I use a 64GB SanDisk SDXC Card!
But should it be strictly the USH-I type?
+Un Nuevo Viaje I haven't had any issues with mine.
Really good review! Thanks.
Thanks for the review, Zoë!
I really like the review i need a camera that is not my phone so i might consider buying this camera!
Harrison Field do it! I bought it at Best Buy. I don’t post TH-cam videos but it is truly amazing I’m so glad I just got it
What mode did you use while filming the MP4 mode?
Hello,
I recently purchased this HX-80 after seeing your videos and other ppl good review about this :) but now im hating it!! when I record my vlogs it seems to be dark and not HD :( I need hlp pls to what is the best HD setings for vlogging with HX-80.
Can you use the flash when the screen is forward facing??
Yep! :)
Awesome! I will be buying this camera!
Hope you like it!
+Zoë Tauxe me too! 😱😱 lol
Is possible to take photos with a bokeh effect with this cam?
+Zoë Tauxe yes that helped a lot! I'm definitely not a fan of spending hundreds more on a camera! Thank you so much!
Thanks for an awesome review! Help me decide to get it
Zoe, I don't own this camera and I am planning to buy one. I have a doubt that you set the resolution on 1080i instead of 1080p. I expect a lot better video out of a camera at this price range.
For this video, I had it on factory settings. I can't confirm whether that was 1080i or 1080p, sorry.
What camera are you using to vlog this?
My old camera was the Canon S6900
Because of you I bought this camera like 4seconds ago thanks so much
Hello cat! Also thanks for the great video!
hi , I'm going to buy this camera for taking Foto. I like visit difrent countries.
What is better Canon powershot SX60 HS or this camera?
I am not very familiar with the Canon SX60 HS, but I will say that this camera takes really great photos. The pop-up view-finder and flash are also nice features it has that help taking nice photos.
Can I add a better lens to it? although the quality is already pretty good
No, the lens is not interchangeable.
Muy buena calidad de video
Great review. I had a dslr but honestly it got too expensive. I'd like a camera that isn't my phone so I might pick this up.
A DSLR was too expensive for me too - I understand! This one is very nice and reasonably priced :)
What do you use to edit your videos with ?
+Dramatic Kee Windows Movie Maker
