    I do enjoy a mix of butters and whole nuts, I like walnuts broken into pieces in with my porridge but I like peanut butter on a bagel and whole almonds as a snack 😁

    Great video.
    I eat mixed nuts three of four times a week as a snack. I also find nuts an excellent and convenient snack when I go hiking, due to their high calorific value. The mixed nuts I have are, brazil, hazel, peanut, cashew, walnut. I figure that eating mixed nuts, will give me more nutrients and minerals, than just eating one type of nut.

    Oh incredibly knowledgeable Myprotein nutrition Oracle could you please answer me one question? I hear differing opinions on the value of complete proteins vs incomplete proteins. Some say that only complete sources (meat n fish) actually work for properly building muscle. Then others say that incomplete vegetable/nut etc sources are just as good as the complete. Is there a definitive answer? If not what are YOUR opinions? Thank you Doc, you're the man!

    • @rkirwan1
      @rkirwan1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not a simple answer but, in smaller amounts, complete proteins (such as those from animal sources like milk, eggs and meat) are better for protein synthesis compared to a similar amount of plant based protein. However, in larger amounts i.e. more than the minimum necessary to stimulate muscle protein synthesis, the effects of plant and animal proteins are similar. So the short answer is, if you eat MORE plant protein, you can stimulate muscle growth just as much. It's worth pointing out that a lot of that research is carried out in plant protein powders so if you're getting that protein from whole foods like beans etc, you'll need more again as the fibre and food matrix can inhibit absorption of some of the protein.

      @@rkirwan1 I do eat a variety of foods but it's just when it comes to the world of nuts I want to make sure I get the ones that have the most to offer but I do eat them in moderation because they're so high in calories I don't even consider nuts a source of protein I'm mostly consider them a source of healthy fats and minerals , I've talked to a few people that improved their bone health by adding nuts and prunes into their diet I enjoy both those foods but I know they have to be eaten in moderation , from what I've heard beans are also a good source of magnesium and other minerals but just like with nuts there's so many variety of beans it's hard to know which one is that the top of the best
