      It is a myth that just because a country isn't officially at 'war' then it is safe. The video mentioned why some people want to specifically come to the UK (although also mentioned not that many contextually when compared with the rest of the world) - language, family connection etc.
      But yeah I've met asylum seekers in Greece and the treatment by Greek police forces and their state is horrific. The same can be said for many other countries in Europe - Serbia is one that particularly springs to mind but many others too like Italy, France, Hungary etc. They aren't 'safe' when you're constantly harassed by police forces, given no means to apply for work or proper or safe accommodation.
      There's so much unbelievable disinformation and myths out there surrounding the lives of migrants and asylum seekers - it's hard to know where to begin with demystifying it all. The worst part is it all fits right into Tory/elite divide and rule tactics and the top end just carry on fleecing workers for all their worth.

    • @James-iu8zs
      @James-iu8zs ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danielseaburg9763 I hear you but there's a couple things - 1. Only can be brought over if your family have got their status and they need to often be close family, like immediate family. So some people might have looser family ties or people they know but still means they'd be far more comfortable coming here than somewhere where they know nobody - however this situation would mean they couldn't be brought over 'legally'
      2. Sometimes this processing shit takes ages - I know of people in Yorkshire region who've waited over years to get a decision, I know someone now waiting over 2 years. This is the home office being shit. This person I know has their daughter still back at home - the dilemma is do you carry on waiting and hope a decision comes through (you don't know how much longer it'll take or even if you'll get a positive one - you might not) and then try bring over, or do you just say to them you're better off leaving and trying to reach here yourself to join your mother?
      They're a young teenager in a country with a civil war going on - I've very sadly seen a video back in their village (which the mother showed me) of soldiers in the area forcing the kids (including their daughter) to strip naked - for what appears to be no reason other than a show of authority and fear tactic - they then shoot rubber bullets near these teenagers to instill more fear. It was the mother literally showing me this video of their daughter as someone nearby managed to get a small amount of footage of it. Imagine watching that with your own daughter in it? Her life is in literal danger - so again - wait for a decision that appears to be taking forever - or get your daughter to try come over here? She can't be brought over legally - her mother has not got status here.
      She'll likely pass through some 'safe countries' if she survives a journey into Europe. But will she actually be safe. I'm sure she'd feel safer in the UK where she has some family.
      This is just one of many personal stories I know of - I understand people don't like anecdotal evidence used in debates like this and say they are emotional and can't be used as proper arguments. Plus others could fire anecdotes back saying other things that disagree with your side. However, these are literal human beings we're talking about, with emotions, dreams, friends, family etc. We as a country have caused so much destruction of cultures, families, lives via the empire and pillaging of countries. We also are supposed to be a very rich country - a G8 country as it were - but really we're just ran by rich people, for rich people - a lot of the place is poor as fuck
      Meanwhile said rich people as I stated earlier create divide and rule - get you to pour your energy and anger into blaming other poor people (the 'chavs', the 'scroungers'), migrants etc meanwhile the rich tories, companies and others carry on fleecing you and fleecing you and fleecing you. Person above mentions racist stuff about claiming people coming over to 'stealth jihad' and milk system - but tories (and new Labour and others) are milking the system, staying rich whilst destroying free healthcare we've had for decades - they want everything to be private - they aren't building any affordable homes or replenishing old but usable buildings - they're building unaffordable flats everywhere, new huge buildings, they're making dodgy deals with mates over the vaccine, they're selling off parts of the NHS to friends
      Why we insist so much on hating other not so well off people around us whilst rich people fleece us is beyond me. If there were 'no migrants' and somehow every 'scrounger' had a job (this scenario is barely physically possible, but just hypothetically) - I can bet my bottom dollar most people in lower wage brackets would still be very poor and have shit and difficult lives - why? Because we'd still be poor, rich people would still be getting richer and barely much would change
      We're targeting the wrong people. That's the bottom line of all of this. Don't believe the government, the institutions, the home office etc and start trying to look after your community around you

Said grandmother committed tax fraud for several years by living permanently in a holiday home which was against the terms she agreed to (and not small print, you had to sign something SPECIFICALLY to say you lived elsewhere and this was just a holiday home). After a whistle was blown, she moved into a very clean, tidy, roomy rented building with a front garden and as of today bought a flat for £40,000.

    Population is a relevant factor for any country to consider. We are already a heavily populated country, especially England. Saying 'well there's loads of space' is absolutely infantile response because people require more than space. In fact, a modern Western person requires a colossal amount of resources.
    Britain (the landmass) could never dream of being able to adequately meet its present population's resource needs right now, nevermind adding another five or ten million. That means we have to get those resources from somewhere else in the world, even if those places could use those resources themselves.
    This doesn't mean we should end immigration, but the fact is that we need to have a structured immigration policy and that will include borders.

      What it means is our government needs to actually step up and develop and reform the economy and country so we DO have the resources we need. Our population is ageing and requires more working-age people to support the economy and the systems we depend on.
      Whether they're born here or they immigrate, we need things in place so those people can live and thrive and be productive here. Saying "we don't have enough but SOME PEOPLE ARE FOREIGN" is a distraction from the core problem, we're not investing in our future

      @@cactustactics having an ageing population is not a problem at all. Even if it was, the idea that it can be solved by simply adding more people to our population and further increasing our numbers would mean we'd have to expand our population for eternity. Never getting it under control.
      Resources can't be conjured from nowhere. It's time to look at ourselves scientifically, as we would any other species, and assess what population an island like Britain can support in the long term. Esoteric arguments about it being people's 'right' to travel where they want or whatever mean nothing in the face of reality. If we overcrowd Britain it'll cause us all damage through environmental degredation in the long term.

    • @cactustactics

      @@Google-Account-hd5dk an economy based on infinite growth is a problem, yes - but that's what we have right now? So until we make fundamental changes, we're headed for trouble - because an ageing population means more of the people who require the most support, and less of the people who actually produce in the economy and provide the source of that support.
      Any arguments about "the NHS can't support all these immigrants" are a cloak for the real issue - the NHS can't support our current population going forward. It needs investment, to provide for our population, whoever they are. And because it's the way our economy works, we need more working-age people producing the wealth to fund it. That's the reality of our current situation, not a hypothetical zero-growth economy

    • @Google-Account-hd5dk
      @Google-Account-hd5dk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cactustactics an uncontrolled population is as large a problem as infinite economic growth. We don't 'need' any extra population to provide wealth or manpower required for elderly people's care, it's that statement which is actually a cloak for people to push their ideological sentiments.
      I'm not talking about the NHS. I'm talking about a very small island called Britain and an even smaller country called England. These landmasses are absolutely incapable of feeding their populations if it came down to it being necessary (without massive farming innovations). I mean France and England have basically the same population and look at the difference in size. As Western purchasing power diminishes, as non European countries gain wealth, the UK and Britain will increasingly find that we can't simply get all the food we want from poorer countries' fertile land. Food is not even the most limited resource, we could go through every previous metal that is necessary for our present lifestyle of you want.
      The baby boomers size as a percentage of the population is large but it is massively overstated. All it means is that elderly care will take up a larger portion of the economy while that generation is in later life. With some minor modifications the economy can easily handle it and once that generation has passed then things will return to normal.

    Really like Novara Media videos. I'm not a Labour supporter, but like to listen to different opinions. The main critique I have of this video, is that it's quite one sided. I think it would be also good to address some of the problems that immigration may cause e.g. poor assimilation into British culture (in some cases). By acknowledging such problems and suggest solutions, it will strengthen your arguement.

      @@Priority76 I agree with you actually. The video does what it says on the tin. I think these should have been adressed too, to give a better overall picture of what's going on.

    • @Priority76
      @Priority76 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blindedbythenoise3107 Yeah I'd say if people are having to move out of their country en masse because it's so fucked, there are some massive issues going on. I think if the thing that bothers you is the people coming here won't 'assimilate into British culture' you have to have a bit of a think about you're attitude towards this. There are a ton of videos about the negatives of people immigrating to the UK, if that's the sort of thing you want to watch. It's pretty much all bollocks though.

    • @blindedbythenoise3107

      @@Priority76 I disagree with you. I'm not saying that we should not show compassion to these desperate people. I cant begin to imagine what they have to deal with. That said, we can't also accept that such activities do not cause some problems. Im actually in support of supporting such people, but it needs to be done in the correct way. Also, even if you disregard my opinion, remember we live in a democracy and there are people who have alot more uninformed and far right views than me. I'm not even right wing. If you disregard certain concerns in videos like this, they will turn their noses up at it, like you have done to me.

    • @Priority76
      @Priority76 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blindedbythenoise3107 I agree with you, to an extent. But to be honest I don't think it's even really possible anymore to change people' minds on these issues anymore. I think you have people who have compassion and will want to welcome and help these refugees and you have those who want to stick barbed wire fences in the English channel. And probably not many people in the middle. I'm not disregarding your opinion I just think assimilating into British culture is such a non issue. It's like if your friends house exploded and he needed somewhere to stay and you said no because he likes watching football and you don't.

    Well said Ash, I think the quote a few years ago was 1,000,000 vacant homes in the UK to gouge the rents of those that are being let. The same people, private landlords, being the beneficiaries of housing benefit and council tax holidays for vacant properties. I'm not sure how much private landlords gross in housing benefit across the UK but I'm sure it would be far more than what 4,000 migrants would get.

The real valued immigration to the UK comes through the proper legal channels not via the English channel by dinghy! All that's coming here is trouble. I value the services provided by immigration to this land by aforementioned skilled people since either the pay is too low or we are incapable of training our own?(time that was sorted) But be under no illusion folks these dingy invaders are not coming here to fix your teeth nor help us operate on cancer. Latest poll suggests that 100% of foreign NHS workers did not arrive by dingy!
