Thank you! I love my white kitten Kumis, although he is now a big boy with an attitude! (he sometimes bites me hard when playing with me too rough).

Can I ask you a question ... when can you transplant a Coconut Palm Tree from the container to the ground? Basically, I have a coconut palm tree in a 7-gallon container ... but it's certainly not as big or developed as yours here. But, I'd very much like to plant it ... I bought it specifically for planting at my dog's resting place in the back yard, but it was very expensive, and I think the company I bought it from (a nursery in the Miami area) has a 1 year, 1-time replacement "warranty" - but I don't want to "mess up" and them tell me , if something goes wrong, "well you planted it too early" ... How do I know when it's ready etc? Thanks very much!

It’s amazing how much sea salt you added. Is it because they naturally grow near the sea? 😅😊🤔

Yes - Although others since ive made this video have told me that the amount & type of sea salt ive added was incorrect. But the coconut palm is still thriving so I am happy- it is pushing out new growth currently.

Quick and simple!!! 🙌💯😄🌴Thank you!! Is it ok to leave part of the coconut exposed and did you water it afterwards????

      @gardenflorida  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yes you can! This coconut has grown very much since I planted it, and it is very healthy as well!

Do you have a palmtalk account?

    • @gardenflorida

I don’t , but I just looked into Palmtalk it seems as a great source of information for how to care for palms - thank you for the information! I’ll be making an account soon.

What's the kind of coconut and where in Florida?

    Can epsom salt work better?

  • @alexgottmituns7049

OK. I see you did plant them with the husks exposed. Good. Here's another piece of advice: Swap out the plots (landfill where you will plant them) usually it's a 3ftx3ftx3ft pile of nasty dirt for Coarse sand. (not fine) Coarse. then add all the nutrients you want: Salt, boron, etc, which won't make much of a difference until after 2 years. Right now, I suggest swapping out the dirt for pure COARSE sand.

Thank you for your kind suggestion, I actually haven’t been to my farm in about a month and I will do so, I am eager to get back and tend to my coconut palms. I will make a update video soon. Do you recommend adding a thick layer of mulch to the coconut palms? Thank you so much for writing to me with your suggestions. It has helped me a lot.

@@gardenflorida Negative. No mulch. It will rot the Coconut palms.

@@gardenflorida I love Cocos nucifera. They're my favorite palms. Second only by Beccariophoenix Alfredii (check 'em out). The trick to planting a palm is: "For every $5 dollar palm, you want a $10 dollar hole". It's all about preparation. If the palm cost you 30 bucks, make a good 50 buck hole for it (hole girth, depth ,medium and if you want additives like Mycorrhizal fungi (Which I did with mine. Even though I still add salt to this day)

I don't think cow manure is a very good fertilizer for palm trees. It does not last very long and it's full of nitrogen. Put it in your vegetable garden, not on a palm tree!

Hi Ken, Thanks for the advice. At the time of planting I was unaware but I will stop adding it to my palms! Thanks :)

      Fun fact: bananas love nitrogen

Wyatt Smith I’ll add some of the cow manure to my banana plantation I have going. Thanks for the tip.

Ken, what would you recommend adding instead of cow manure?

    • @MasterKenfucius

@@aniyahdilovelilioness747 It really depends on where you live and what the soil composition looks like. In Florida, the soil is a sandy loam. If you don't mind inorganic stuff then pick up some palm fertilizer at Lowes or Home Depot. If you want to go organic, be sure to add some rock salt on top of the roots every now and then to provide some of what it needs. Palm trees love Potassium. Good sources of Potassium are mined rock powder and wood ash. Hence, emptying out the charcoal BBQ grill on top of it would be a great idea. My 10 coconut trees also appreciate some Epson salt once in a while to take care of the Magnesium they need as a trace mineral.
