Thank you all for watching and commenting on the talk! Writing and thinking about cross-cultural communications is complex as culture is ever evolving but I do think that our joint human goals of compassion, understanding and working collaboratively transcends such differences, provided we set out minds to it. Warmest Regards to All!
Will you say touching feet is the expression or body language for " you are great" ! or "great " or accepting elders authority As we do not touch everybody's feet and touching feet is a feeling which comes for some respectable persons, not everybody. I am sharing your thoughts I felt very nicely delivered. ( My head is equal to your feet) you are great!
Thank you for having the interpretation in ASL on screen the entire time!!! Fantastic interpreting of a great talk. Thank you for making it accessible in sign language, in both language and culture, by dubbing a skilled interpreter into the screen. Thank you again.
Folks, Sukhsimranjit Singh is a gem. During my personal interaction with him I observed that he is a rare commodity in the commercial world. I have watched this video umpteen times because of his powerful words. He comes with a different style, wit and humor. I look forward to see him as Mediator of the Year in California. I would also like to petition the present government to hire Sukhsimranjit Singh for international negotiations with US and China to foster relations through back channel diplomacy. Last but not the least, I want to give credit to his parents and sagacious spouse Baldeep Basraon who too is a known figure for Cross Cultural Dispute Resolution in the state of California.
from the picture in the talk slides , I could gather that Mr. Singh 's father is the Vice chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University , Amritsar , Punjab ,India . great talk btw ! absolute wisdom ! fine delivery !!
In thirteen minutes you explained clearly, concisely and compassionately a concept that many people will fail to comprehend, even over an entire lifetime. Such wisdom as yours is to be commended. Thank you for sharing!
This is very powerful and well pointed. Be open-minded and respectful of any culture, do not urge your prejudice on something you do not know. loved it!
Wonderful TED presentation. Coming from India, vey proud to see such wisdom explained in just less than 15 minutes . Thanks for your presentation and made me proud of my / our culture
Inspiring talk! I agree with Professor Singh. Your action is a reflection of your culture principles, not just the turban. I am Glad to be one of your student.
Paji ( for those of you who dont know this means brother, but more than that, as it show respect as if this man was your father as opposed to prarji).. Thank you for your lecture, If only more people like you thought like this it is a true Sikh that learns life lessons along the way, and makes sense of our upbringing as children born into the sikh religion.
Sat shri akal sir.. Iam from india.. i saw your video before around 1 year back but in fast forward because i just like your speaking skills i didnt put any affort to understand what did u say.. But today when i was going through other ted talks i abruptly remember you and i typed simranjeet singh ted ex talk.. sorry i coudnt remember your name correctly... i typed wrong name but i found u... This time i understood eveything.. So u said correctly that people see time with different angel.. Love and respect🙏🙏🙏
Excellent. Very clear description of different perspectives. Feel proud to see Gursikhs like you delivering and sharing their knowledge. May Waheguru bless you and your family.
Very rightly depicted the comparison of western and eastern culture .actually we can compare two cultures . Every culture as it's own peculiar features depending upon their social physical and a great geographical conditions . but sukh some an you have explained with enecdotes and body movements and body gestures . some features of one culture are good while some from others are better ones. Our Indian society abroad grasps the best of both .This is one of our best trait that we assimilate in every culture very quickly.
Pleasure. Congrats to Sukhsimran for learning through observation and experience. However, Congrats to Parents also- to whom we owe a lot. May Akal Purakh bless you to keep it up.
I've never really understood why someone would genuinely be happy with an arranged marriage (especially due to the unbalanced power relations I have seen it play out) but your explanation of the positive sides, the perspective of collective decision making and collective responsibility, definitely made me see it in a more positive light because I do admit I come mostly from cultures where the importance of autonomy and its metaphysical background has been emphasized to a much greater extent. Most perspectives we see involving family honor in our western history tends to be entrenched in a rather less positive perspective but I can see that under the right environment there is merit to that kind of collective culture and I appreciate that even if I know its not for me. The hardest part just comes where my interest in a person is from my cultural thinking and that person's interest (although they have come to be close with me) have more the other persuasion of cultural thinking. Reconciling my person choice and his with his deference to elders and those in a community which looks out for his best interest (religious) is always a hard conflict.
Very good point thank you for writing. The in group and out of group generalizations are so prevalent and often times so wrong that they inadvertantly land up controlling our decision making.
Excellent , truly amazing Veere ! Such an inspiring and motivational 13 minutes. I am going to share it with many over here in Vancouver through all my social networking sites. (y)
This is excellent bro. You have covered 40 hrs of cross cultural diversity full credit course in just 13 min. Without talking much you have tought many things. Looking forward to watch more from you. Stay blessed

This is a very good talk and I loved how you managed to explain the cross cultural understanding. I have definitely gotten more ideas. Thank you for this. :)
speak with respect and when you speak bring your presence your heart and soul! What if everyone had the courage to do these things? it's beautiful how culture dignity and honor are still held in high esteem by this man. his way of thinking with class and gentle behavior is mocked by macho men in U S
Hello. I loved this talk! A very correct analysis of cross cultural communication. I am also having similar observations after coming to the USA after spending so much time and growing up in India.
thank you Sirji, makes me feel great about the culture I am a part off, and it also made me realise that I have not been respecting people the way I ideally should, am glad I watched this video it was indeed a wakeup call.
