    • @elsaqa
      @elsaqa  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say it's perfect for introverts, you usually have your own tasks and if there are unclarities those can be sorted with quick sync calls usually with developers, I would say it's really up to a person & project you get into. There are the types where everything is soo clear that you just take a task and do it with no hiccups and there can also be the type where you will need to clarify a lot of things, but it's usually a quick process and can be done through comments. :)

  • @petruki

    Elsa, thanks for showing your view about the difference between a QA Engineer and a Tester Engineer.
    Unfortunately, the industry has created a lot of confusion as you mentioned at the end of the video.
    If we think about the terminology behind these 2 roles, we would find that QA Engineer is a misleading title and should never be used. Quality Assurance is a process, not a role. QA is a process applied throughout the entire SDLC and is not exclusive to a single group of professionals to perform. Different from Testers whose responsibility is to inform and improve a product using various techniques such as exploratory testing, they still don't assure quality but help develop and find improvements.

    • @elsaqa
      @elsaqa  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It definitely is a whole process - a whole process any QA engineer, tester etc. is a part of. I don't really like the use of the title Tester due to the fact that it describes your role in such a primitive way. QA is a process that we make happen, we work on creating the processes for it to work seamlessly with development & all other verticals, we compile data so stakeholders can make calculated decisions and we make sure the systems health is at top level as best we can with various methods we know. These few things alone are not as the title Tester is described. If you look for a description basically it says he tests things and thats just ridiculous description of this role. In my opinion it is much more than that and is not limited to only that. QA Engineer though yes the tile may be misleading, but if we look from the career growth opportunities spectrum etc. I am glad people have next level to get to which is recognized within this industry. Would be very sad to not have a place to climb to next, it would be pretty unmotivating, so no matter the incorrect use of terms I like to look at the positive regarding this. :)
      Loved your points!

    • @petruki
      @petruki 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@elsaqa Thanks again for elaborating on this topic. I 100% agree that the way you describe QA Engineer is absolutely something that is a must to have and not just a primitive way. I think it would be the same as calling some as Coder Engineer, right? LOL
      However, I still wouldn't underestimate the position title as Test Engineer. I recommend taking a look on the disciplines and responsabilities listed on the job description for a Test Engineer at SpaceX. They also call it as Development Test which is also interesting.

    Hi Elsa! Thank you for sharing. I'm currently looking for a new job as a QA Engineer. My last title was QA Engineer, but the role was primarily that of a software tester, focusing on manual testing. This was because my previous company had a separate SDET team for automation. It's been challenging for me to find a new QA Engineer position because I lack automation skills. What do you suggest? Should I prioritize learning automation first?

    • @elsaqa
      @elsaqa  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey again. Honestly any skills will be of help to you, but you also have to research what the job market is saying and what skills are they looking for as. Also usually they ask for experience in this too so it is usually to go into automation through company growth opportunities but of course not always. Which country are you looking from a role in? Is it the EU market or US market or other?

      I would go and check their vacancies and check what they are asking for, offering to establish what it is you are maybe lacking first. Then improve on those aspects.
