The MXR CSP104 Script Logo Distortion + takes you back to the 70's, where the tone was raw and the pedals were built by hand. MXR's Custom Shop goes the extra mile to recreate the vintage Script Logo overdrive/distortion by using high quality components, all hand wired to a vintage style PCB. Housed in an authentic mustard yellow enclosure, the MXR CSP104 Distortion Plus employs the same 'battery only' circuit which utilizes germanium diodes and a '741' op-amp to achieve those searing tones made famous by Randy Rhoads and other guitar legends. - เพลง
why I can't fine this pedal anywhere now 😭 finally a darn reissue thats more scarce than the OG
They made 140 pedals worldwide (or just in EU?). I grabbed mine as soon as possible! ;)
I was beyond thrilled when they reissued the script D+ I bought 3 of them!
I use mine all the time on acid baselines and synthesizers. It kind of sounds awesome on everything.
closing in on 1000 videos!
Thanks PGS for all your demos
This is a nice sounding distortion pedal! Very warm and musical.
love the Black Sabbath intro
Very true..it was the first pedal I ever owned so I didnt notice how low the output really was till I started using other stompboxes and whatnot.
I still have mine though, because Ive found its great for thickening up the mid-range of any other pedal while also adding a bit of warm fuzz.
Nice pedal! And Andy, you are just amazing doing that all without a pick!!
Andy, fantastic Sabbath!! You nail everything you present....incredible...pedal sounds great too
nice sounding pedal! nice playing; plays it pretty authentically too
Love mine. Thanks PGS. For the price this is probably the best overdrive.
I have this exact pedal. It still has the volume drop problem but sounds sweet none-the-less!
I used one of these 6 nites/week for 20 yrs - no LED - just like this one. It was and still is a great dirt box.
I could never come to like the regular Dist + but this one me likey a lot!
Yes, indeed it is! I recently had to sell mine, and I've regretted it ever since. GOT to get another one! It is one hell of an axe!
I like the Tele sound with the slide best! Cool that its only battery operated! Reminds me of being a teenager and spending my last few bucks on a 9 volt to keep my distortion pedal running!
anyone else blown away by Andy's amazing slide skills???
hes a profesional guitarist
great playing Andy!
i love that song so much!!
MXR is my go to pedal company, heavy duty quality
Simple and efficient. Who does not like this pedal is because they do not know how to use it. It's the best vintage sound of all. Needs only a good amp, a good guitar and a skilled musician.
Mauro Samuel thats all you need for guitar playing in general
Very nice demo might have to pick one up
Back in the day I ran this into a Marshall Major200 2nd volume on 6 and 1st treble on about 4 with the pedal maxed...it was the best damn distorted sound I ever had. The harmonic overtones we’re outta control...bite, tight, and if you rolled off the volume to 50%, the best clean sound you’d ever want. I also had a Roland 501chorus echo crackin’. Man, I gotta pull that rig out.
The pedal sounds great, I think I’ll pick up a new one just for live reliability.
a major on 6 ...can u still hear stuff sir?😂
hey andy, your demo is the best just like usual. and now welcome to the jungle?? oh man im abig fan of slash.. nice.
Sounds great.
That tele sounds killer
Wolfmother-pleased to meet you, was not expect that
Sweet Leaf!
I was thinking the same thing. The Whirlwind Rochester sounds great, good price and is made by the original guy from MXR.
I remember playing a *very old one of these.* With the amp set clean it sounded unpleasant... but once the amp was up... It sounded like GOD. I don't think I have ever heard better than the old one.
This sounds close... but not quite the same. But for $119 ... it's extremely attractive.
sounds pretty nice
pleased to meet cha!!
Sweet Leaf! Black Sabbath's love song to pot. I play that one too.
what a nice pedal for slide blues
Nice crunch. That's what I'm after.
Yes, we ship worldwide! You can 'add to cart' for your specific shipping cost. Thank you,
PGS
Andy you are definitely the man!
Andy can make any pedal sound good.
You are fu...ing right!
He could sell me a ds 1 xd
Sorry guys, but I don't think this pedal is what most people think it is. At 1:45 I see UA741CP on the opamp, which was actually the opamp used in the vintage block logo units. The current block logo M104 uses the LM741CN opamp, which was the actual one used in the original vintage script units. So in that sense, the new standard block logo is more accurate to the vintage script original.
Hey guys, the battery-only thing is a super easy fix! Open the box....Get a ONE-SPOT 9V battery adaptor, connect it....peel off the rubber feet, close the box over the cord, but use the rubber feet as a spacer... Boom, you classic MXR box is now compatible with BOSS style plugs... No permanent alteration!!!
andy you sure do have it down doing a lead without a pick, inspiring
"Alright now!"
SWEET LEAF!!!
Nice
I would buy this pedal based just on the first sample. Sounds great.
Have you bought one yet? I'm thinking of selling mine. It's a Script box, and I bought it new in the 1970's. I tried it out this morning, and it rocks!
@@BCRSIX if you still have it, how much you ask for it?
@@DrumBuster16 I don't know, I can't decide if I want to sell it or not. In reality, I should, as I never use it; it just sits in a drawer along with piles of other pedals. I keep kidding myself into thinking that some day I will buy a new house with a music room where I can take all my stuff out and and just crank out my amps and blast away, but I'm almost 70 years old, and haven't done it yet. l'll keep your message, and if I do decide to sell, I will notify you first.
The Tele sounded really good.
I bought a 9volt power supply plate thingy from zvex. It fits.
Sorry to hear that! Dx I can imagine it's one helluva guitar! What really got me looking at it is that mini-switch near the pickup knobs, and that funky tailpiece! What, in your opinion, makes this axe so good? How are the pickups? The mini-toggle a coil-split right? How's that sound? Is it a versatile guitar for a bunch of styles? How's it feel? Is it set-up nice? I was thinking of buying one and I like getting as many opinions as I can about it when I don't have anywhere to try them at!
Memo From Turner?! Wow, blast from the johnson.
For anyone interested in this (now discontinued) pedal:
What isn't adressed in this video is that the pedal doesnt really play too well with high output pickups. What I've found is that humbuckers in general seem to clip this pedal pretty early on in the input stage, as the output volume is reduced a lot compared to when in use with single coils. I've got a SD Lil '59 (ca 17k or so DCR) in the bridge of my tele coupled with a Tonerider Hot Classic (right above 7k DCR) in the neck. When in use with the neck pickup the pedal blends amazingly well with the tone of the guitar and low gain boost sounds can easily be achieved by maxing out the output and setting the gain around nine o' clock. However, when switching over to the bridge pickup the output is noticably lowered and the gain must be set to around twelve o' clock to achieve the same output volume. By then the sound is heavily distorted and almost lies on top of the guitar's character rather than blend with it. I haven't gotten around to using it with low output humbuckers or P90s yet so I can't tell you if the actual pickup output is the problem here or not, just a heads up if you're interested in this one. It's a shame since the characteristics of the distortion is really unique and can be described as sort of a Neil Young/Black Sabbath-in-a-box kind of thing.
Halkbi I would have to disagree. Randy Rhoads used a JB humbucker, and those are around 16.5k.
I should also mention my Les Paul, with a custom shop Seymour Duncan pickup registering at 16.5k, sounds absolutely amazing through my script+. The ‘59 may just have too much bottom, which can make any pedal with a germanium fuzz vibe sound a bit choked. My pickup isn’t bright, per se, but it’s extremely clear and articulate with nearly any dirt I use, and I have dozens.
Roll volume off if your pups are too hot?
I’m getting bad white noise with mine. I have a 76 or so vintage pedal. Tips for troubleshooting? I keep the amp’s distortion pretty high and use a noise suppressor. It’s really irritating!
Welcome to the jungle ROCKS dude!
Beautiful on the telecaster with the slide playing !!
true, hes got that Nova Drive going for him.
Are the pickups on the Hagstrom high output because I've noticed you guys use that guitar on heavy stuff
My stars. Does it ever!
Hello, excuse me for my bad english, i want to know which is your config of amp to have this song, i bought this mxd but i heve not this sound.... my amp is a marshall JVM 205 and my guitars are a fendre highway one upgrade and a gibson with P57 and P57+
The sound is too clear
Thanks Olivier from France
you are not the only one.
Great playing and demo as always, thanks.
Just a quick question, why don't you stock the Whirlwind Rochester series effects pedals?
Thanks again.
cuz they suck and pro guitar shop was reputable
ALL RIGHT NOW. that`s all i thought in the beginning hahaha
What's that guitar Andy's using in the beginning? The black one? It almost looks like a Duesenberg but the name one the headstock doesn't look like it says "Duesenberg....
whats the name of the song andy starts to play at 5:00? Really nice tune and tone
I'm a sucker for Sabbath riffs.
Andy, I'm really falling back in love with the Hagstrom Swede. I used to have that same one & in black, looks identical to the Hag in the intro. I have a Gibson Les Paul 60's tribute now, but I want to go back to the Hag Swede! I don't even really care that my Gib is made in the USA and the new Hags are made in China, nope, don't give a shit. I want the HAG! ...badass pedal too btw, I want that too! Can I live at your retail shop in OR ?!
nice
Great pedal, but would it be the worst thing to include a status LED and 3PDT switch?
Sound great, but why did they remove the led?
Yes, the fonts.
Any difference to the tone or gain any difference besides its looks?
not sure if people know, u can get a wire for your power supply that goes to the battery compartment, so u can power this with a power supply.. also, dist. pedals like this don't draw much power, so u can use one battery for a while. the pedal probably sounds better with a battery, and its a reissue.. companies don't change reissues from the original (or they shouldnt.. i can think of an amp company that does).
Daniel Simon remember to unplug the in and out and the battery will last many months.
yup!
You missed the part where it's a re-issue of the original 70's design, which didn't have either of those. MXR makes an updated version with an indicator and more modern parts though.
just bought one on ebay yesterday
Jefferson Weber ......., And?
Ben Hubar and he got it kappa
You play black sabbath, you sold me this pedal.
Wich is the difference between the distortion + normal and this?
Good demo. Be aware that the op-amp type in the board has little influence on the sound of the pedal.
are you able to ship this pedal to Canada?
thx
Does this pedal have any difference to the normal Mxr Distortion +?
I also had a bit of a stupid moment recently where I should of known better when I bought a guitar solely on looks and I ended up not caring too much for it. xD So now I make sure I'm extra careful! :-)
I've done this to 5 MXR boxes... No issues...
I got the Old Distortion+ with the huge plastic monster truck wheel looking knobs... Sounds just like this one, but is slightly dirtier, but it could just be my amp being stupid with me and me being tone deaf as hell lol
ahh wolfmother. havent seen them for a while
Is the Hagstrom tuned to C#?
every time i see a pro guitar shop video, and its not Andy im always disappointed
i have a regular MXR dist +, this one spanks it
I disagree, Both have their uses. the block logo reissue actually has the opamp that was in the original Dist+ and if you set the output to the max and run it into another booster. OD and then a clipping amp, it sounds amazing. More clarity and definition than the script, but less fuzziness
Regular has a nice fizziness on the op end.
@Erwin Eigenraam actually he is playing Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath, but now that you mention it, I can see why you might think he is playing Give it Away.
andy is a boss
"Kickin' My Heart Around" by Black Crowes.
Thanks! those "battery only" pedals are a bitch.
what's the name of the song he plays at 2:11 ?
Do any of you know what song Andy is playing from 2:02 - 3:20
yes
Andy, could you play some Jerry Garcia's Grateful Dead licks w/ MXR Distortion+ Script, please?
PD: Greetings from Perú
I think it sounded best with the tele playing some tasty blues licks with that slide.
Andy's an Mxr ofc!
Is it a Hagstrom Super Swede?
What kind of Les Paul is that?
Did andy just play Pleased To Meet You? Holy shit.
sha na na na na na na na knees knees!!!
actually I think he used a different kind of MXR pedal, I can't remember which one but there's an old issue of guitar world that lists what he used on his tour with Ozzy
Review the DigiTech Hot Head!
Lol he starts with the ending of Give It Away
