I liked the Shaman King Reboot because time is getting better. I'm looking for a second rewatch and taking a look at the old 4kids version Dub. I'm definitely going to read the manga, too.

It's one not a sequel to the reboot it's a full fleshed out sequel to the original manga. Flowers came out in 2012 with several stories connected to it coming out before and after to help flesh out the story. Shaman king is a intricately weaved tale that needs to be studied over it being a light read. You want to enjoy it then take time and understand that everything is connected. Yes we have some parts that drag but it's all a beautiful symphony that's not for the those who want flashy shonen but want a methodical mind nourishing tale with sensational panels. If you don't like flowers then honestly don't try to take up the mangas cause it's a story that was always the mangaka telling their story whether we liked it or not heck Zen king bang represents that in a nutshell

I'm sorry if I won't write in english but I want to be as much clear as possible with your opinion.
Io sono uno di quei (tanti) fan della community di Shaman King che ha adorato l'adattamento sequel. Il vero problema del remake del 2021 era soprattutto il rush della serie, il che è molto comprensibile. Qui invece, non solo non è rushato, ma include nuove scene: sia prese da altri manga di SK che inedite. Le animazioni sono quel che sono, però hanno capito che a questo punto si dovrebbero concentrare più che altro sulla visuale degli episodi (e per me hanno fatto un buon lavoro). Le OST sono davvero a gusti, a me personalmente piace molto Yuki Hayashi come compositore.
Si vede che almeno questo studio SAPPIA cosa stia animando, e non solo leggendo Flowers, ma leggendo TUTTI GLI ALTRI MANGA DI TAKEI (che sono un casino, infatti ci sono molte scene prese da tutti i manga per far comprendere allo spettatore cosa stesse succedendo in Flowers)
Ora, parlando della trama, sono d'accordo con te riguardo al fatto che la prima metà del sequel è abbastanza un copia e incolla della serie originale e anche io ci rimasi piuttosto deluso quando lo lessi per la prima volta.
Quello però di cui non sono d'accordo è il fatto che, proprio perché è un sequel next generation, la serie... si deve concentrare su nuovi personaggi. Dato che hai citato Boruto, prendiamolo in paragone.
Boruto è una storia che dovrebbe raccontare le vicende della nuova generazione (perché sennò non l'avrebbero dovuto chiamare next generation ma semplicemente "sequel di Naruto") quando in realtà per tutta la prima parte della serie è semplicemente un continuo essere trascurati dai personaggi dell'OG. Non abbiamo avuto dei veri e propri dialoghi con molti dei nuovi personaggi dopo la loro presentazione. Cavolo, pure TenTen era più presente rispetto a molti personaggi next generation.
L'unico ragazzo che davvero si vede un qualche tipo di character development è il protagonista (Boruto), per il resto sembra un sequel di Naruto e basta, dato che i personaggi dell'OG oscurano in qualsiasi modo possibile un probabile sviluppo di tutti gli altri nuovi personaggi.
Riprendiamo Flowers. Chi sono i personaggi principali di questo sequel? I personaggi della nuova generazione. Basta non c'è altro da dover commentare. Questo è come si fa un sequel next generation, oscurando i pg dell'OG dando spazio ai nuovi personaggi di avere un loro posto nella trama.
Sono d'accordo pure io che all'inizio i nuovi personaggi sembrano una ricalcatura dei personaggi dell'OG ma ti posso assicurare che più la trama va avanti e più avranno il loro perché e le loro unicità/peculiarità.
Non sto qui a spiegare come l'arco Death Zero sia uno degli archi più ben riusciti di tutto Shaman King in generale perché sennò ci starei ore e ore a scrivere questo commento, però il fatto di far capire cosa a Hana gli manchi attraverso un soldato della seconda guerra mondiale è la cosa più azzeccata che Takei potesse fare per un protagonista con quel tipo di mentalità/carattere.
Io credo che Hana rappresenti un po' tutti quei lettori che hanno sempre voluto seguire l'esempio di Yoh. Se tu vuoi seguire l'esempio di qualcun altro vuol dire che hai un carattere distante dal suo. Ecco, Hana sta iniziando a capire piano piano cosa a lui gli manca per comprendere al meglio le azioni del padre. Perché si è sempre comportato così Yoh durante Shaman King? Qual è stato l'evento che lo ha cambiato per sempre? Con Osorezan Le Voile. E in che modo? Con l'amore. Quello stesso amore che ha dato inizio allo sviluppo di vari personaggi come Ren, HoroHoro, Lyserg e Chocolove.
Questo è senza dubbio un primo passo di Hana verso la maturazione (del suo spirito).
Io credo che Shaman King debba essere preso come un percorso formativo. Non è un tipico battle shonen dove la cosa principale sono i combattimenti (e lo dovresti sapere perfettamente dato che è un'opera che ti sta molto a cuore), ma gira tutto intorno ai personaggi. Così fa anche il sequel.
Certo, son d'accordo che Takei sia partito con l'inizio più banale possibile, però una volta arrivati a Death Zero si inizia a intravedere quelle che sono le vere potenzialità del sequel.
Dato che sei un Anime-only fan del sequel, ti posso dire che tutte le cose che volevi nel sequel sono state già belle che scritte anni e anni fa. Ci sono ben 2 spin off sequel (Shaman King Red Crimson e Shaman King Marcos che trattano rispettivamente le vicende della famiglia Tao e degli X-Laws dopo la morte di Jeanne) e un nuovo sequel di Flowers: Shaman King the Super Star (che riprende le vicende di Flowers).
Parlando di altre due cose: sono assolutamente in disaccordo quando dici che non ci sono temi abbastanza maturi nel sequel, quando... è completamente l'opposto!
Il fatto che Takei abbia creato uno Shaman King capitalista ti fa già capire l'andazzo che vuole prendere questa serie.
E' un sequel che non tratta più i temi dell'OG ma bensì tratta temi più maturi e crudi della società moderna: il capitalismo, il lato oscuro dell'umanità, e le guerre.
Se hai guardato e ascoltato bene tutto il sequel, sai che questi argomenti sono stati trattati nel modo migliore possibile e [spoiler] questi sono i temi del sequel in generale.
Non credo assolutamente che non siano temi maturi.
Te ne posso dare io un contro abbastanza oggettivo. Takei ha "retconnato" il fatto che se Hao diventasse lo SK avrebbe potuto tranquillamente cancellare l'umanità senza nessuna interferenza, cosa che invece non è più possibile nel sequel, dato che adesso esiste questo G8 dove se non hai l'accordo con i 3/4 dei precedenti Shaman King allora non ti è permesso di fare nulla.
Se dovessi dare un voto al sequel di Shaman King (in generale) gli darei un 8. Ci sono tante idee interessanti ma ci sono, come nel primo arco di Shaman King Flowers, delle cose che mi hanno fatto storcere il naso.

I liked the beginning death zero arc but it felt like it dragged over time and when we moved to the next arc I dropped the series. Maybe if I go back and read it I’d appreciate more

Looking at the Google translation of your comment I just want to address a few things 😅
I don't disagree that a sequel can/should focus on new characters, I simply dislike the way they discarded the previous protagonists (even if it ends up making sense in the story). There are many series that do an excellent job at "passing the torch" to the new generation through mentorship. You don't need to completely obscure the OG characters to give shine to the new ones. The early episodes feel disjointed and repetitive and having Yoh and Anna there would help make the episodes more entertaining and Hana's introduction as a main character smoother. They didn't have to be there, but to me, the whole dynamic with Tamao, Ryu and the Hanagumi was not interesting.
I enjoyed Shaman King's mature themes and I praised them in the video, the G8 and Death Zero have a lot of potential and I loved the twist with Jeanne. I wish Flowers focused on them sooner as the early episodes were quite boring.

I am no mangha reader, but shaman king adaptation was really annoying, mostly of pacing and Yoh character. Now, with Flowers I am more annoyed. 7th episode, and they expose a mystery that is an annoying mystery of Corn Flowers. I hate this storytelling. "They". And still, I keep watching this. This is mostly either guilty pleasure or hate watching.I have no fun of it
