I have heard that Tappei apparently removed the slice of life parts from the light novel so that is atleast a good thing. Its good to remember that the web novel is kinda like a rough draft before being touched up into light novel format
Bro im only anime watchers sometimes im curious about LN & WN Arc story about s3 in future . so where can i know how much arc is re zero ? The best way should I start ? Im finish already S1/S2
That’s partially why I prefer the LN. I feel like he includes things that aren’t super relevant way too much in the stories. So cutting it out or combining the more relevant portions into one thing to reduce fluff is nice.
Here's a couple of fun facts: - The reason why we are even exploring Vallachia in the first place was due to Tappie's love for Kurgan's design drawn by Shin'ichirō Ōtsuka. In older interviews he stated that we wouldn't explore outside the kingdom of Lugunica, but he loved the designs of Kurgan and the other Vallachian characters while writing Priscilla's backstory so much that he decided to go against his earlier statements about not exploring other kingdoms. - We're most likely never going to explore any other kingdom in the main story as it would conflict with the pace of the story, but the author is unsure at point about featuring Gusteko in the future. However, Tappie did stated that if Subaru and Vague Adgard, the Mad Prince of Gusteko, were to interact with each other Vague would hate Subaru. Vague Adgard is said to be on pair in strength with Reinhard and Cecilus, and is currently imprisoned. - Tappie didn't have any plans for the People of Shudrak to have much relevance to the story, but once again Ōtsuka's does his magic again leaving Tappie to believe that it would be a waste to not use these characters. - Arc 7 wasn't originally planned. Re Zero was supposed to have a total of 9 arcs, but it expanded to 11 arcs, and then to 12 arcs. Arc 2 was added due to Tappie's editor believing that jumping from the story events from arc 1 directly into the story event of arc 3 would be too jarring in Subaru's and Emilia's relationship. So arc 2 was created to help build on their relationship, and focus on building the character's of the story more since Tappie was more focused on world building at the time. Arc 7 was added later to explore Vallachia, and the EX volumes were created to help with the build up for arc 7. Arc 8 is also another arc that wasn't planned due to Tappie's editor complaining that arc 7 being too long, so Tappie split the Vallachia saga into two arcs to flesh out the Vallachia saga. - Emilia having the ability to give Volcanica commands is explained in the side stories for the light novel, but I believe it will make its way to the main story at some point. (Corrections on this is located in the replies)
For now this definitely feels like a sidequest so I understand the author's hesitation, but I'm sure he'll be able to tie it up nicely. So should we just thank the illustrator at this point for all the extra content? 🤣
@@dorianpompa8409 Sorry I misremembered things. We don't know why he is following her orders, but he does give Emilia one of his talons. The talon will allow those to come and go from the watch tower without being attacked. We can also speculate that he could possible follow the orders from whoever completed the trials as well.
@@OverlordDioit's really not a "side quest" this misinfo is ludicrous at this point. I promise you, just because the location and such were "unplanned" (an honestly ridiculous description as a writer) doesn't mean essentially one big arc over a total of 13 out of the current 38 volumes was a "side quest". It was always going to happen, the stuff which affects Subaru is essential to his development. They say it's a side quest because they hated the arcs or at least think the story has to reset back to arc 6 somehow.
The WN has kind of unnecessary paragraph and storytelling for sure, but I think it's because how WNs are written, since it's mostly done by the author themselves. When adapted into LN, there will be lot of staffs helping him to turn it into a proper book, like editors, so I like to think that the WN is something akin to a draft, and the LN as the canon one. The newer WN chapters sometimes also retconned some stuff as the past WN chapters usually differs from the actual LN. Tappei also does have a tendency to highlight side characters more in the WN for some reason, so if you don't like them, it's going to be kind of hassle. Also, if you plan to read the LN as it get released, try to think the LN as the true timeline, since sometimes I schizo-ed myself when I read the LN version and not finding stuff I remember reading from the WN lol.
Glad you enjoyed it, Arc 7 is a bit divisive since its a bit of a departure from normalcy for the series. I personally am a big fan of 7 and 8 so im excited to hear your thoughts, both positive and negative. Regarding the question about licensing, I asked Ice, one of the translators at WCT whether they could legally translate it or not after i saw him mention that it was indeed actually licensed despite being a free web novel and he just said "I cannot legally answer that question".

I'm glad Tappei put Rem in Emilia's skin in Season 1! When you don't have a foundation of memories to fall back on! And now we can compare who is actually more useless and will bring more trouble!))
The web novel is free and is not copyrighted. Witch cult translations is the best place to read the web novel. It even translates side stories and the IF Stories. No issues with licensing or anything. A lot of early new characters introduced in arc 7 play a bigger role in arcs 7/8 than you’d think. Todd is definitely my favorite new character introduced in arc 7. You’ll see him pop up multiple times in arcs 7/8, and every time he appears, he steals the show. He’s weaker than many other characters, but he’s arguably one of Subaru’s most dangerous foes. Won’t say anymore since it will spoil, but Todd is amazing.
Funnily enough I was enjoying the flashbacks quite a bit before they ended because I thought Tappei was setting up some sort of theme with memories that would pay off later on, but yeah it just ended up being just fluff besides some interesting bits.
i mean, they do pay off within each of their respective chapters by showing how Subaru's time in the mansion taught him lessons about how to be more capable when he found himself completely alone. They break the pacing a bit, but I didn't find them long enough to be off-putting.
I remember thinking the same thing about the flash backs I just wanted to skip those parts I missed Rem so much I wanted to read about her situation I couldn't care less about Petra and Clind at the time.
When you are reading a web novel, remember that the light novel is far superior, many unnecessary things are cut and the dialogues are improved, the web novel is free, precisely because it is more "experimental" the light novel and the true final product, an example of change, and that Reinhard does not go to the moon in the web novel
"I hope Vincent gets more page time..." ugg... of all of the zillion new characters introduced in that arc, I couldn't possibly have enjoyed any of them less than Vincent. But, boy is your wish ever going to be granted.
@@OverlordDio I am in the (apparently very small) minority who just cannot stand him as a character. I don't think he is poorly written or anything like that, he just gets way too much focus and I had a hard time caring about his storyline, which for obvious reasons drastically reduced my enjoyment of the last couple arcs.

I was annoyed with Subaru not telling Rem about what Louis did too, its brought up later though so hold on to that.
