- The first of Limited Run Games' TMNT game soundtracks arrived yesterday. I preordered every single one of them but only on cassette save for the 16 bit titles, which I preordered in all three formats. I will be uploading sample videos of all the cassettes and one cut each from the vinyl releases of the 16-bit titles. For now, the first one for the classic NES game. These are the track names copied word for word from the tape inlay:
00:19 - Title Screen
02:28 - Level Theme 1
04:16 - Stage Theme 1
06:02 - Difficult Fight
07:11 - Turtle Captured
07:16 - Game Over
07:21 - Stage Theme 2
09:20 - Stage Theme 2-A
09:59 - Stage Theme 2-B
10:25 - Karate Boss Fight
12:00 - Karate Boss Defeated
12:04 - Level Clear
12:12 - Underwater Scene - เกม
Officially licensed cassette OST releases of NES license games. That's honestly something I'd have loved to see as a kid
Ditto
I was pretty much training myself to beatbox by imitating NES music vocally, but if I had tapes like this???? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh-ho-ho-hooooo BUDDY!
I'd imitate character walk cycles and shit when I'd play out in the yard as a kid too. Winter meant I could pull my hand in my sleeve and have Mega Man's gun arm. Any stick was a sword for Ninja Gaiden...
All the while, music like this blasting in my head at full volume.
FUCK, I miss those simpler days...
don't you do it nowdays? it is fun!@@rawkfistgaming
we have gone full circle. to now craving lo fi sound and image quality
Its the natural way of things. You discover the truth of the way its made and realize which results you decidedly like better when comparing to the unadulterated form. The authenticity and beauty of the imperfection.
@@scikoolaidIt's like Ode on a Grecian Urn, except it's Ninja Turtles.
some of us have always preferred clarity and discreteness in our music, whether that's because it's limited-channel synthesized or just because it's composed so that nothing blurs together messily.
The necro sound, it's called, in black metal
Sounds exactly how I remember it.
I like the fact that they used the cover art from the Famicom version for the cover (well excpet the Nickelodeon branding xD).
It sounds very nice, it's so 80's lol.
Yeah, all the cassette tapes they are releasing save for TMNT Tournament Fighters all use the cover arts from those games' respected japanese versions. The CD and vinyl editions all use the cover art from the english versions except for again Tournament Fighters which is using the japanese cover art, more specifically the MegaDrive version.
So true with the Nick logo, which looks childish. It's misleading when the game is mostly based on the much more mature comics. Most kids won't get very far in this game. (Great tunes...if you can live long enough to hear em' lol!) 🤣
I do like how they let the tracks breathe a bit on the limited run releases, the mondo stuff you barely get a full minute. I might have to start tracking these down.
Just received my vinyl copy of the TMNT NES OST. I love it ! Wish I had a cassette player still, I know they are cheap but hard to find unless shopping online.
I ordered vinyl and CD copies of the 16-bit titles in addition to cassettes, but for the 8-bit titles I only bought the cassettes.
I think it would not be amiss to indicate the real composer and author of this music - Jun Funahashi.
The composer isn't listed on the insert. It just says "Composed & Performed by Konami Kukeiha Club". And there were other composers involved besides him but he says he doesn't remember who the others were.
Yep, that’s pretty unsurprising, as Konami has been using that collective label for decades.
Much like the Falcom Music Channel for Ys?
@@osurpless or Zuntata for Taito.
@@osurpless Konami Kukeiha Club was something else, i think. They had live gigs as a band, there's some footage left here and there
So rad, bro.
Totally Rad mix, My Dude! 🤙 😎
So true with the Nickelodeon logo which looks so childish. It's misleading when the game is mostly based on the much more mature comics. Most kids won't get very far in this game. (Great tunes...if you can live long enough to hear em' lol!)
Quality actually sounds pretty good!
I heard reports a few weeks ago about quality control issues with the sound and that it was really bad because apparently they just ripped the audio files from the games which is apparently not what they should have done. But hearing this? Honestly it sounds fine to me.
Aside from the blaring 2010s Nickelodeon logo in the corner, the artwork is pretty spot on! It almost looks like a legitimate TMNT product of 1990!
It probably should have said "music from the video game for NES!" somewhere though. Maybe it should have used the official NES box-art. Still looks great.
true
I play all of these tracks on Winamp.
That game had issues but the sound track wasn't one of them.
Thanks for sharing!
Man, seeing this this morning just reminded me I gotta get back on the grind for a sub-19 in this, lol... Hit a 20:44 a couple months ago, and haven't touched it since.
I would do anything to know how to make authentic music for the NES, let alone how to record it properly for a physical release.
7:21 Is what pops into my head whenever I think of this game.
Why have I not been aware of this until now? Tough game but great music!
That's a neat lil extra. :)
When you get to uploading sample videos of all the cassettes, I'll be listening. Just subbed to you
Thanks!
this soundtrack is pure ambience, the water level is a match to that of donkey kong
True
Maybe it's my imagination. The tempo from your tape recording it's a little to high a bit. And of course, i always plays the NTSC versions from my Nes games, not those infamous PAL counterparts.
This is cool thanks for upload man!
You're welcome!
This is such a throwback...a killer soundtrack for a good(but damn tough) game. Thank you for sharing a rip from your cassette!
Samples of the rest will be posted once they get released and arrive here too. :)
Yeah, I still enjoy the game even though it's pretty broken. The channel Displaced Gamers has done some videos of it explaining the issues in the movement, attacks and such. Oh and the fact on the water level there are collision boxes offset from where they should be which caused a lot of unnecessary deaths. :O
SUPER music!
Right on
EPIC
All nes music are great trip into memory lane lol
i can listen to them all day
do you have megaman or blaster master
Still don’t know why on this cassette you don’t get the original image but on all the other releases and formats it’s the original image. Strange. This is the one I wanted on cassette the most out of all of them.
Never realized how that riff in the opening is kinda Stone Cold Crazy.
Heh, not quite but maybe a little bit.
Darn, they don't have it listed on their site anymore :(
Yeah, the preorder window was earlier last year and was only a month or little more than a month. It only finally shipped this past March.
The wow and flutter heaven
any soundtrack for the 1987 series?
Not that I'm aware of.
That would be pretty cool too.
definitely more entertaining in cassette form than the original gameplay was :P
What's the difference between a level theme and a stage theme?
Level Theme is played during the map navigation. Stage Theme plays inside buildings, sewers, etc.
How is there no tape hiss?
Guess it's just a good walkman. :\
Toytels
I have no clue how it ended on my main TH-cam page but here's a like and a comment cuz it's hella cool
it bothers me that Nickelodeon has to get their grubby print on the face of everything...but, them's the breaks
Yeah
Tubular dude
good stuff
the nickelodeon tag on literally everything Turtles related these days bugs me
Yeah, understandable. Meanwhile, others bitch about how Disney is handling Marvel and Star Wars, when what they do is nowhere near as bad.
One of the best NES soundtracks.
EDIT: no level 5 music? 😕
Didn't want to post the whole OST and just some choice cuts. But I added more than I was intending with this clip.
@@tuxmargameroom ah, ok then.
why it has so huge wow-flutter?
I don't hear any wow and flutter. WTF are you talking about?
@@tuxmargameroom It's very noticeable for me. Maybe you don't know what is it. It's a pitch floating and pitch vibrato. It can be even visually shown by comparing emulator and this record on spectrogram. From emu lines will be straight and from this record they will be like slight waves up and down.
It sounds weird to me at 2:35. Is that what you're talking about?
@@JediMasterBaiter I don't know. This thing is from beginning to end. I guess ppl don't notice it as much as I do.
No way this is available
Not anymore. It was a limited item that was only available through a preorder window that lasted only a month or little more than a month several months back.
@@tuxmargameroom Too bad ☹️
This is a thing!?
Yeah

I'm getting tired of Nickelodeon labeling TMNT like its their original IP.
Good point. And people bitch about Disney owning Marvel and Star Wars now....
Cute but such a waste when there were CD and digital versions of it.
You know, my generation was one of the last who experienced these medium as the only way of music distribution and recording. We hated them so much! When we got CD’s it was a no brainer to leave all this behind.
You might think of better times when you use these, but us remember all the stress, annoyance and disappointment they gave. You’ll never understand that, you’ll just listen to it once and put in on a shelf inside another case.
Why the fuck would I want a digital version when I get a physical version? And if you're just going to spew negativity and bad vibes, get out. There's the door.
a lot of weird assumptions on your part here lmao. older media/technology is cool as hell and should be preserved, plus physical beats digital every time.
@@UncleSmithers Agreed
weird thing to spend money on.
WARSMAN
whats with the nickelodeon tag on the tape nickelodeon dident rape the ninja turtles when this game came out
Because they own the whole franchise now.
Nickelodeon making TMNT content that ain't aimed at you is what you call 'rape'? You know anyone who's actually been raped? Or had it happen to you? But you're happy to use that word to whine about modern installments of a long running franchise that gets reinvented a bit for each new generation?
omg...no...im a grown up! STAY AWAY!
😂
