Seriously, FUCK Microsoft for putting ads in a game that was supposed to be free and come pre-installed in Windows PCs. And you can tell that they just took their mobile version of the game and put it on Windows 10/11, they were too lazy to create a new version of Solitaire so they just ported the mobile version which requires you to purchase a premium subscription to be ad-free. It makes me think that commercial video games will become even worse from now on. Here's a little tip: when you know a video ad is about to load, during the loading screen, if you focus on any other window, the game will pause and this includes loading the ad. Wait for a few seconds (about 5-10) and when you focus the Solitaire window again, the ad will be skipped entirely. But if you fail to skip it, simply open Solitaire again while an ad is playing and it'll be skipped. This also has the effect of moving the other ads (the ones that appear on the side when you start or finish a game) to weird places, but re-sizing the window fixes it.

There's no doubt that psychology is employed to prey on the target demographics. One of the most consistent things I see in mobile ads is people failing at very easy tasks. This is because it preys on your instinct to go "Well, I could do better than that!"

Here's a little tip: when you know a video ad is about to load, during the loading screen, if you focus on any other window, the game will pause and this includes loading the ad. Wait for a few seconds (about 5-10) and when you focus the Solitaire window again, the ad will be skipped entirely.
But if you fail to skip it, simply open Solitaire again while an ad is playing and it'll be skipped. This also has the effect of moving the other ads (the ones that appear on the side when you start or finish a game) to weird places, but re-sizing the window fixes it.
