I would have liked it more if creepypastas were less like, “it happened in the real world” rather than an analomy in a well known fantasy world with different laws of physics, because a world with actual ghosts and terrifying specters (there’s literally a Pokémon type about Ghosts) would make more sense than idk… a goddamn videogame blue hedgehog monster stepping out into real life. It's impossible to pick a favourite from that game. Is it Detective Tip #34? Or the split second of ahegao face accompanied by another DT#34? Pikachu getting hanged at the carnival? Is it the guy with the creepy tongue? How about the café scene where the girl just stares without speaking? Or the dead Aipom? Why not all of them?
Some corruptions are extra tweaked to get effects like these! We don't get to see many of these because of the time it takes to even get one of this caliber.

I think what happened there was that the face’s texture got scaled down a lot. At least in blender, image files are by default set to repeat if they don’t fill up the whole model so I’m guessing it was the same with whatever engine Detective Pikachu uses
That Final Fantasy one used to FREAK me out, the way static mess of colors gets more intense and the music gets so much more awful and incoherent, and clouds face wasn’t helping either. That was the one and only time corruptions legit scared me. Oh wait, I remember another one that kind of freaked me out, the giant rubber duck, with the weird noises in the background, and the corruption barely croaking out the noise that sounds like “help me“ kind of got to me a little bit.

But, after a moment, he processes it, and is amazed and delighted by how specifically and terribly creepy it is. It is *Cloud staring directly into the camera with empty eye sockets.* If it were in a creepypasta, you'd think it was trite, that's how perfect it is. The noise he makes is like the spookyscary version of the noise you make when you're on a boat and suddenly, with no warning, a whale breaches the surface and majestically fountains a spray of water into the air.

2:49 - As someone who used to write Pokémon Creepypastas and post them on deviantART back during the genre’s heyday (2010 - about 2013), this part is actually really fun to watch, since it genuinely looks like a scenario you’d expect to see in one, what with a clearly malicious, sentient monster asking Red if he believes in ghosts before transforming into a spectral double of him. Corruptions can do many things, but sometimes everything lines up in the best possible way :)
I don't watch vinny vinesauce but does he go out of his way to corrupt these games? Or is it just by chance it happens? some of this shit is SCARILY accurate to like old creepypasta gameplay videos (Mainly ben drowned) ESPECIALLY THE CLIP AT 5:40, hearing that save me help me shit already had me scared, but then the fucking boat starts to sink and I lost my shit.
He does intentionally corrupt the games. But recently people have been sending him the corruptions they create using special software, which leads to the more specific and unbelieveable ones.
He started a decade ago with corruption programs manually changing things and seeing what the game would do. The first corruption with the Princess (if you see her turn off the game) is an example of that. And yeah, it was by chance, it would be hours of unremarkable or unplayable states. Over the years as people made new software and experimented with systems and games people would send Vinny specific inputs. Nowadays corrupting games from multiple consoles is a lot more accessible and there are specialists who compile the best ones and send them in. There's no way Vinny would have the time to look for these things now.
Sometimes its custom sent corruptions sometimes he manually "blasts" a game with random corruption and either way it ysually ends in something hilarious or horrifying
The early ones wad just using special software that would corrupt roms (thing like SEN and most of the mario world ones was from that era) while most of the new ones are basicly just funny rom hacks sent in by the comunity.
Was watching this when my doorbell (which isn't connected to anything anymore), decided to start ringing, over & over on loop. It just kept going, echoing through the house. Nobody was even there, it just went rogue & continued to play, eventually lapping over itself. That was not a fun problem to deal with while you watch scary clips.

2:49 - As someone who used to write Pokémon Creepypastas and post them on deviantART back during the genre’s heyday (2010 - about 2013), this part is actually really fun to watch, since it genuinely looks like a scenario you’d expect to see in one, what with a clearly malicious, sentient monster asking Red if he believes in ghosts before transforming into a spectral double of him. Corruptions can do many things, but sometimes everything lines up in the best possible way :)

I don't watch vinny vinesauce but does he go out of his way to corrupt these games? Or is it just by chance it happens? some of this shit is SCARILY accurate to like old creepypasta gameplay videos (Mainly ben drowned) ESPECIALLY THE CLIP AT 5:40, hearing that save me help me shit already had me scared, but then the fucking boat starts to sink and I lost my shit.
He does intentionally corrupt the games. But recently people have been sending him the corruptions they create using special software, which leads to the more specific and unbelieveable ones.

He started a decade ago with corruption programs manually changing things and seeing what the game would do. The first corruption with the Princess (if you see her turn off the game) is an example of that. And yeah, it was by chance, it would be hours of unremarkable or unplayable states. Over the years as people made new software and experimented with systems and games people would send Vinny specific inputs. Nowadays corrupting games from multiple consoles is a lot more accessible and there are specialists who compile the best ones and send them in. There's no way Vinny would have the time to look for these things now.
Sometimes its custom sent corruptions sometimes he manually "blasts" a game with random corruption and either way it ysually ends in something hilarious or horrifying
The early ones wad just using special software that would corrupt roms (thing like SEN and most of the mario world ones was from that era) while most of the new ones are basicly just funny rom hacks sent in by the comunity.

Was watching this when my doorbell (which isn't connected to anything anymore), decided to start ringing, over & over on loop. It just kept going, echoing through the house. Nobody was even there, it just went rogue & continued to play, eventually lapping over itself. That was not a fun problem to deal with while you watch scary clips.
