- Andy Stewart on the Royal Variety Performance 1961
The Royal Variety Performance is a televised variety show held annually in the United Kingdom to raise money for the Royal Variety Charity (of which Queen Elizabeth II is life-patron). It is attended by senior members of the British royal family. The evening's performance is presented as a live variety show, usually from a theatre in London and consists of family entertainment that includes comedy, music, dance, magic and other speciality acts.
I think I remember him being guest star on an episode of “Bothy Nichts” I directed for Grampian TV back in the day
Great performance of a wonderful song, and video beautifully produced.
Great voice, grew up watching Andy on new years eve brilliant show, time moves on but not for the better so sad
Love his voice fav song scottish soldier
As an Englishman I have always loved Andy Stewart and my mother did too.
Andy was a great performer and promoted Scotland brilliantly 🏴👌🏻
One of my all time favourites and for a number of years a good friend, a guest at my wedding.
Andy was a great talent who is sadly missed. He had a beautiful tenor voice! For those who don't know and have seen the 1997 film 'Titanic', Andy's son Ewan played Officer Murdoch, the one who shot himself on deck.....
How fascinating!
You can see the resemblance a lot!
Ewan (Andrew) is a great actor, he's very expressive in non-verbal ways.
brilliant. A legend and so sorely missed. If memory serves he had several shows, especially on ITV or grampian as we knew it back then. Including Scotch Corner and most of the time there was lasses dancing too, nothing like that really now. Oh to have a tardis, lol
Love the Scottish Soldier song.. an amazing voice
Talent personified.Absolutely the best Andy🙏🏴🏴🏴
