I just started using the Garmin 1030 Plus bike computer by our sponsor Garmin. In the couple rides with the 1030 plus, I really like the large screen.
On my bike computer screen setup, I have heart rate, 3-second average power, cadence, normalized power, time of the bike ride, lap average power, lap time, average speed.

I love the radar so much even on busy roads knowing how many vehicles are coming past is great, yes I still look back but the radar sees further back than I do at a glance 😁 also when group riding I love the drink/eat alerts as I get too caught up in the ride forget to eat and end blown and out the back of the group, this helps remind me to fuel.

The number is not number of the screens but # of data fields. The A/B does refer to alternate layouts.

7 weeks into my 'getting back into shape' plan, aim to do my first 1/4 ironman / olympic distance in 2021... i would love a Garmin computer, they seems solid...but the price tho..they're sadly like the Apple of bike computers...you pay heavily for that name i reckon (1030 plus is just shy of 700 dollars here in Denmark right now :( ) almost as much as i paid for my 2nd hand Cannondale six13 slice si2 bike... i bought the Lezyne micro color bundle instead for 150 $ does everything i need for barring power ( those powermeters are also expensive as hell). Good review tho and realle appreciate and enjoy your training tips @triathlonTaren :)

1030 is mostly for the pros. You can get most of the things with 530 as well which is less than half the cost of 1030 plus

I love setting my lap alert is set to beep at me every three miles, so it serves as my reminder to hydrate or take in nutrition. I'm a nervous rider and will forget because I'm too worried or preoccupied with what's in front of me

What is your personal take on 1030 Plus vs Element Roam .... I can't make up my mind as to which one of the two I would like ... Garmin watch Forerunner 945 if that helps ....

Can you dig into Normalized Power? How is it telling you: how good your training was. I have just used it at the end of a ride to judge the power load.

Every 30 seconds avg to 4th power added together and taken to the 1/4 power. So it just rewards how punchy you are. It would never be higher than avg power.

at 9:34 Track consumption is when you finish ride to pop up dialog and there to set how many bottle and calories you consume that is not to tell you when to drink and eat

Cool video! How come my 3s power and normalized power data doesn't work? I got the Garmin 1030 edge plus bundle that came with the unit, and speed and cadence sensors. Do I need another sensor?

I think you need a power meter but don’t get one unless you really really want to know as they are between 500 and 1000 bucks.

I was thinking of upgrading from my old Edge 800., Only thing is I also use it for Hiking and it had sd card with OS 1:50 000 GB maps. It doesn't look like I can transfer this maps to the 1030 (no sd slot) ? Does that mean I'd need to pay out another few hundred quid for this feature?

My problems; I can not export routes to the 1030+ from Basecamp and I can not install my needed OpenMTBmaps on the device... very disappointed.

How long does the battery last? My 520 has issues with those 6 hour rides.

Did a 110 mile ride on my mountain bike last week. elapsed time of 10.49. moving time of 8.44 hours. Still had 49 per cent battery left from 100 per cent when I got back home

For the life of me I don’t know why Garmin hasn’t done the same as Wahoo and let us use the phone app to modify the screens.
