This was a very good video. I like how honest you were about Pros/Cons. And also saved me a bit of headache with that antenna extension cable. My wife's 07 Accords radio went out and I'm getting the upgraded unit for her car (Android 12), also got the extension cable, some other things to make it moar beddar. Thanks for this video :)
If you have problems with the ac plug at the bottom not locking in I have a tip. The top of the plug is hitting the metal housing. Take a sharp boning knife or something similar to shave off small amounts of plastic off the top of the plug until it gains enough clearance to snap into place.
I installed this same Extrons unit 2 years ago in my '06 EX along with TPS and a Carlink Apple CarPlay Wireless adapter. My biggest ding is the climate control screen lag is abysmal. After changing to F and to auto dual zone climate control, the hard button climate controls all worked perfectly but as I said, the screen display lag makes me wish for a separate climate control indicators. Setting up the Carlink brand wireless Carplay adapter was typical Android. Adopting wireless CarPlay at the time of installation proved a bit premature as the iOS side was a work in progress, but with each iOS update, wireless CarPlay stabilized and improved. The only outstanding issue is the initial handshake, which uses both Bluetooth and WiFi, which occasionly gets out of sync. I have found that cycling both in iOS usually resolves the issue and once the connection is made there are NO further issues. I will add that the sound quality using the DSP controlled amp in the XTRONS is a HUGE improvement over the factory. I originally thought I would replace the factory speakers but after installing this unit and setting it up, the sound still surprises me. This unit is not perfect, but as Wolfgang stated, it is well worth the price and time involved to install.
thanks for review. the temp you talked about is not outside temp. It is just the temp you have set for the a/c. My screen is too bright at night even with low setting. Good to know when. you change something in the factory default settings it will reset your UI settings.
I don't know if you know this or not but 90% of aftermarket head units typically will have the antenna in a different location most aftermarket radio shops even Best Buy and discountautoparts sells a antenna extension cable that allows you to plug in your antenna and gained another 4to6 in on your antenna wire. my Honda is a 07 and I just clipped a couple of the zip ties away and had plenty of extra wire to plug in the factory wire to the back of my head unit with no problems

Not able to connect to my wifi for some reason, and is saying "do not watch video while driving" anytime I try to access any media Is that because I didn't hook up the ground wire labed "brake"?
No I don’t think that’s it because I didn’t hook that up either. There may be a setting in a menu for that. Mine didn’t have that issue. I’d browse other vids on YT for an answer on that.
Hello Wolfgang just got my unit, love it, but there's one thing the AC screen is useless kind of like you say I turned on the ac and i don't get the temp outside at all the mode doesn't show anything I went into the 8888 mode tweaked a few things but nothing...any help? Thanks, Jim
Yikes, sorry to hear that Jimy. You’ll get used to the AC touch screen buttons being non functional… I just use the physical buttons and knobs and it’s no problem at all. Weird that the outside temp isn’t showing up on the top of the screen. Wonder if our units are running the same software version? We need Xtrons to tell us how to update the software! Pls comment on this Xtrons!
It does not show mpg on the display WITHOUT the OB2 port connected to the head unit. I didn’t hook mine up (too much of a hassle I felt and for information I don’t need on the display). Maybe it will display this if your OB2 is connected?
@@Wolfgang51501986 yeah maybe it would. The obd2 would be nice for instant diagnostics. The Atari Navigation is a bit outdated so I will probably make the purchase.
Use a bulky sturdy flathead screwdriver to press the clip all the way in until it locks in. I was able to get my clips engaged by pressing them with a LOT of force to seat them into place. You need to be very careful with the screwdriver to make sure it doesn’t slip into the wires and gash them because you’re going to be pushing with a lot force.
I would say this, though just my opinion; mostly android users can figure this unit out quicker. I use Samsung and developer options gives extra menu for customisations. So most likely on this unit things like software update, animation speed, touch sensitivity etc. Cheers
