THANK YOU! I've been really trying to decide between these two types and there is ZERO documentation on any of them.

I mean look at this way! There was a time where I didn’t know how to install radio headunits or car parts in general. Got to at least try and see if you literally cannot do it!honest this install isn’t as bad as you think. All of the wires are plug and play so there is no cutting or splicing that you would have to do

I installed one of these in my ‘06 a month ago, it’s fantastic so far. I use apple carplay from its carlink 2.0 app it has and it works great. Very responsive, connects to my phone fast, I’ve only had a couple of connection issues where it wasn’t connecting to carplay, just had to shut off navigation on my phone and turn the car off and on again. from my experience it’s USB ports don’t charge my phone very quickly or at all, so I just use a plug for my car’s 12v port with usb ports. My only gripe with it was how it made the speakers sound after I installed it, it used to have very clean and loud bass stock but now it distorts and I’m not a car audio nerd but I will become one to fix it. I had to set the EQ profile in the audio settings for it to sound normal and it has grown on me some but i’ll have to look into a better solution in the future. It has a ton of hookups for other audio equipment that come with it so I might expirament with it in the future, but overall it’s nothing that would make me say it’s terrible. Also be careful routing the microphone wire, I snapped it by mistake since it’s so thin. The built in mic isn’t the greatest.
It’s a great unit but the install, gluing the vents in, and dremeling out the extra space for the hazard light button was a little tough. Very fun project tho. It being an android tablet based system I would recommend not connecting it to the internet or using it for anything other than auto/carplay stuff so as not to bog down the memory too much, it can rlly start chugging when trying to load other apps or even video.
I also saw a review on amazon that suggested a wire harness mod so you can keep the function of your existing radio/CD changer which I think would be worth it if u can do it.
tldr I love the unit so far but it has a couple drawbacks/issues with sound and ports.

I fixed the audio stuff, it sounds great now 👍 gotta keep in-app eq settings in mind especially with spotify as that works over carplay too.

This wasn’t a bad unit by any means however, I do believe that there could have been some better improvements. Check out my channel to see the other Headunits that I have installed into the accord.

How did you cut the plastic for the hazard lights? Also you said that the plug is different, the hazards still work right its just that the passenger airbag display won't light up right? I appreciate the vid I was trying to avoid that xtron radio cause of the climate controls

    • @JR14Channel
      @JR14Channel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hey so I used a Dremel drill to make the hole bigger in order for the button to fit. And no the connectors are different so a button without the airbag passenger indicator will not work.

I tried the one you remove the radio, and the rear defrost didn't work nor the backup camera. I sent it back. I'm glad you posted this. Have you installed a backup camera by any chance with success?

Hi, can you install different navigation app?? I really hate Google maps, and I usually use waze, thanks to the users they warn you about problems on the road in real time. Could I install it?

    • @JR14Channel

When you use Apple CarPlay or android auto if you have Waze installed on your phone, it will automatically show up on the screen when selecting it

a few questions as I am considering this unit- does the CD player still work? Also, the startup looks instant in this video. Is that the actual boot up or is that actually a lot longer? Have you resolved the factory radio since then?

Hello, I have been looking at this unit model for a long time but what does not convince me is how to install it so that it is impeccable, first through the hole for the airbag and the other is that my accord is 2006 ex navigation and I do not know if it can be installed , according to your experience with this installation, it would be possible to install it on mine, thanks

Definitely glitches in the software for the Xtron unit .. it modernized the interior so much though.

It amazes me how in today's world you can tell exactly the type of person who's going to be doing the review just by the intro and the music in the intro alone...
If your AC unit doesn't work and other things don't work you have to go into the can bus settings and make sure that you have it set for your vehicle the can bus you normally have comes set at null standard.
That's the thing you guys take so much time trying to make these ridiculously stupidly great intros that you completely forget to look up and how to do the rest of your stuff you're so focused on trying to draw the people in that you didn't even think of possibly just going in and changing a few settings go into the factory of the car and turn the password and then go over to your unit and model and select it all your problems will be solved
