We had a visiting Aikido instructor who when he called you up to demonstrate a technique for the whole class to watch would take the arm locks and wrist locks deeeeep into the red zone and then some. If you were lucky, you came away uninjured but you would be sore for days afterwards and sometimes need a timeout to work off the pain which had been inflicted. However as I was taught from day one, and whenever I trained with our resident instructors Sensei's and black-belt Shodans, or Nidans, when you tapped out, it is a signal that a pain threshold had been reached asking for release, and not a signal to bend the joint even further until something snaps. The locks are designed to HOLD and control an assailant who by attempting to escape from the lock will find it painful to do so. "One day Seagal asked me to kick him in the stomach. He wanted to see what I could do. “No, what do you mean?” I said. "Yeah," he replied, "kick me." I kicked out at him, but not very hard. He lifted my leg so that I fell on my ass in front of the others. It was embarrassing. He asked me to kick properly. I spent many years on my karate and didn't want to look like a tomboy. A few days later Sven was informed that his character was killed off in the movie and the rest of his scenes were scrubbed.

There are recent vids of people training with him and it seems at times he takes the arm locks and sparring too far. I saw one where he locked a karate black belt while talking to the camera while the guy was furiously tapping his chest! 😅
His role in On Deadly Ground is hardly deep. Seagal flips a guy through the air who then bashes him to the floor. You’d do well to even spot Michael in the scene. On Deadly Ground was a decent action movie and better than its reputation.
James Lew is a great stuntman and martial artist ! I didn’t know he was one of the stuntman that was being a bit I’ll treated during his stunts with seagal !
I wish he would get that chance to be our Spawn now. I understand CGI wasn't that great back when. I think Todd McFarlane should reconsider Michael again!. He was great as spawn!. I would love to see "The Real Spawn" with today's awesome effects!. Mr. WHITE is Spawn, period!.
DMX said the same thing about Stephen I forget what movie they worked on but I've seen it years ago. He pretty much said in a nice way he didn't have any respect for Steven because of what he did to the stunt guys
One of my old coaches has family members that are stuntmen/movie extras & he told stories similar to what MJW is saying. He’d be incredibly rough with them. With new guys, he’d kick them in the nuts unprovoked to “test them.”
I see a lot of people atacking Steven Seagal, but if you only take a day to take a look at the videos about his way of teaching martial arts and people who trained under him,you would maybe understand why he is saying what he is saying about other martial artists.Training in Japan and everywhere else in the world is different and he was training under the masters from Japan under very strict rules and it was especially hard for a gaijin like him in that environment. That makes you a tough cookie and it takes a lot of discipline to develop skills under that stress. As far as his character goes,he comes off as akward and tough, but judging from the videos where he talks about his life and the way to stardom and everything else it takes a lot of balls to do what he did and we are talking about one of the greatest action movie stars on the planet who was in his prime in the 90s.I mean Above The Law is one of the greatest action movies ever.Right up there with Die Hard and Lethal Weapon along with Under Siege and Hard To Kill for example and Out For Justice ! I mean those are great movies.I recomend Viking Samurai channel ,he has a lot of content about action movie stars of that era, people who worked and trained with Seagal,so if you are interested, check it out.
You mean aikido masters in Japan were so hard. Aikido masters? Like father of Seagal's first wife? You really must try for critical thinking, Steven is proofed to be lier many times. Even about his family. His aikido is fine, but aikido with huge body will always be much better than the same aikido skills with small body. It is physics.
@@Shinbusan No,I meant his approach to aikido was different and you can clearly see that i his videos and demos and if he picked that up from Japan and clearly he has, good for him.Lied about what exactly ?What about his family ? What are you saying fried ? That is why we have weight categories in every combat sport in the world. Are you saying he is supposed to be a smaller person ? I dont follow ,haha
Seagal pioneered a style in action movies that hadn’t really been seen before. Can’t think of any other action stars that did. And everything he made with Warner was awesome.
Look at Van Damn and look at MJW. They both kept their bodies hard even in their older age MJW looks great for a dude his age. Seagal is softer than a marshmallow.
There was another story he told, about Seagal hurting people and some of the people on set wanted MJW to hurt him in their upcoming fight scene in a movie. Apparently it was the LAST THING being filmed, so the movie wouldn't have been ruined. I don't know if Steven got word of it or what but he was BARELY touching Jai White to the point where MJW said "Hey man. This is ridiculous. I'm not gonna hurt you. You can tap me, it's not a big deal. We have a scene to shoot." (I'm paraphrasing but that's what I remember from one of his interviews with Vlad.)
Steven Seagal has a history of hitting stuntmen hard rather than using the illusion of the camera to create the same effect. Mainly because he wanna maintain his no nonsense approach to fight scenes. But both MJW and JCV wouldn't play ball. Steven has injured a lot of stuntmen however there was one occasion of one stuntman who knocked him down twice after seeing what he was doing. I forget who that stuntman was

There are recent vids of people training with him and it seems at times he takes the arm locks and sparring too far. I saw one where he locked a karate black belt while talking to the camera while the guy was furiously tapping his chest! 😅
chuck zito vs micheal jai white who would win ?
Damn Mike drop a excellent steven segal impression!
Michael Jai White is so cool. They did him dirty with Spawn.
This the same guy who said he can beat Jon Jones 💀
I have never seen anyone put a finger on this guy. He is THAT badass!
I'll take Michael Jai White and Van Damme over Seagal *ANY DAY!* 👍🏿
I wish he would get that chance to be our Spawn now.
Probably Exit wounds, all 3 of them were in it
Exit wounds 2001 then he appeared in another movie with Steven Seagal in 2019
One of my old coaches has family members that are stuntmen/movie extras & he told stories similar to what MJW is saying. He’d be incredibly rough with them. With new guys, he’d kick them in the nuts unprovoked to “test them.”
If we can't trust an anonymous 3rd hand story from the internet, then what can we trust?
His segal impression 😂😂😂😂😂😂
HAPPY 57TH BIRTHDAY MICHAEL JAI WHITE !!!!
Michael Jai White is a man of integrity and character, and he is the real deal. He's a better actor than Steven as well. Black Dynamite Forever!
Its no wonder Steve denounced his citizenship to join Russia
MJW is one of my fav actors. He played such a good spawn
James Lew is the man! If you doubt me, just go watch Big Trouble in Little China.
@@michaelmyers3709 Exactly right. His movies were great and he was a breath of fresh air for a good decade.
Steven Segal sounds like he was acting like a jackass. He might have needed an little attitude adjustment. Great video.
James Lew is awesome. He was great in Hot Shots 2 😄.
I watched Steve get throne all over the mat in by 9 Don Kenny Markie in 96
Dmx said the same thing about Segal hurting people purposefully.
Spawn will forever live in him
Sensei Seagal just showed up at Vladimir Putler's sad parade in Moscow. He looked horrible.
3:50 The next day 🥱
That sounded like a Dave Chappell skit
Kudos to Steven for not firing him tho
Yeah but steve role for jai is quite smart though
I want to know is what is that watch Michael Jai White is wearing?
MJW would stomp Stomp Steve...😅
Steven Seagal has a history of hitting stuntmen hard rather than using the illusion of the camera to create the same effect. Mainly because he wanna maintain his no nonsense approach to fight scenes. But both MJW and JCV wouldn't play ball.
Steven has injured a lot of stuntmen however there was one occasion of one stuntman who knocked him down twice after seeing what he was doing. I forget who that stuntman was
If mjw isnt a martial artist seagal should let him try that sidekick and see if bullshido can save his ribcage.
You have to read in between the lines. What Steven seagal really meant was that MJW wasn't intimidated by him.Fighters typically aren't scared of Martial artists.
DMX said the same thing on how he was purposely hurting people on set.
MJW is a great storyteller!
Tore someone's bicep is crazy 😂😅
