    So simple. A keyed pipe clip. That’s opened up a raft of ideas for my new insta360 cam. Couple of these and some 1/4” thread bolts and boom. The world is my oyster. Thanks man.

    What an awesome idea! I have a Jeep and was trying to find a way to mount my camera to something other then the windshield. Perfect solution. Thanks.

    Very good tutorial. My adds are simple.
    1) Cut your rubber at least the second piece to wrap underneath the hose clamp not just the Go Pro clip. You will need it, not just for non-slip, but for protection from expensive paint jobs.
    2) Paint it to match Go Pro mounts. I will be mounting these to $80,000 vehicles and I want it to blend in with the GoPro itself.

    Some plastic to metal adhesive in between the buckel mount, hose clamp and metal backing plate would increase the strength, some shrink warp over the clam band would help keep it from scratching and provide a better grip to whatever it's clamped to.

    Hey buddy, you’re filing backwards the first time you file. The teeth only cut in one direction and you can damage the file. You files the screws correctly.

    or just drill hole put small bolt through and use tripod mount

  • @taylormortin
    @taylormortin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe you could use a similar method to the zip tie mount and not have to drill into the mount.

      You say what is the fun in showing how to do the same thing... well it takes WAY less tools to do the zip tie mount. I couldn't do this mount in this video, I don't have all these tools.

  • @smitthone
    @smitthone 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are quite weaking the mount by drilling and bending to remove the screw.
    Wouldn't be better to use rivets?

    • @helicopterjohns
      @helicopterjohns 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just use you dremel tool to cut the excess bolt threaded end.

    • @helicopterjohns
      @helicopterjohns 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rivet heads might extend to high and cause interference with the mounting. Also the pressure of the rivets during installation might crack the plastic.
      One other thing. If you use a drop of Duco cement on the threads it will work like blue loc-tite but is easily removable. Used this on model airplane engine mounting bolts with a lot of vibration and it worked like a charm.

    "use rubber" . Just use an old rubber tube that has a leak. Old 700 tubes work great as tie downs for a rack. (they don't loosen when tied in a knot) . recycle man.. :)
