November 26, 1970 - Carson was still based in New York with a couple of trips to Burbank each year at that point, this is one of the Burbank shows.

8:16--Back in the days when the networks fed their West Coast affiliates out of L.A., NBC-Burbank announcer Victor Bozeman read the promo for "Swing Out, Sweet Land".
9:51--What I thought was cool about the Burbank "Tonight Show" set during the early '70s was that rotating set of title graphics on blinds behind Doc and the band.

In contrast to his first 13 months after moving to Burbank (May 1972-May 1973), when he did two 3-week trips back to New York, then after that never ventured from Burbank for the rest of his run as "Tonight Show" host.

The Notre Dame-USC game is from 11/28/70, in which SC upset Joe Theismann and an undefeated ND team. The "Chevy's Back" campaign refers to the end of a 67-day GM strike by UAW members which took place that fall, the last major strike by GM employees to date,

The song Lulu is singing, Keep The Customer Satisfied, was written by Paul Simon, and was featured on Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water released earlier in the year.

That's Robert Milli in the Alka-Setzer ad.
My favorite part of Carson's run is seeing all the guests together, how they interact and how Carson interacts with them. Carson was aloof, yes, but there is never a suffocated feeling, which you get after Leno takes over.
Lulu is dressed like she's in some sort of "naughty" Doctor Who adaptation.

I've seen clips of one of her first appearances (with Barry Manilow as her piano player), but not sure about the whole show. NBC's policy was to wipe (erase) videotapes for reuse up until 1973 when Carson took over production of the show and had required NBC to save the tapes in the contract. If they exist, it would be as kinescopes.
