Dont worry about these things flinging the rod or even damaging it. That only happens around 4000rpm. At 3600 rpm the throttle is open about as far as it will go. Very torquey engines for their size. They pack a mean punch
The little ‘graveyard’ version of these mowers never ‘missed a beat’ whatever grass you put it through, the secret seems to lie in the disc cutter which is the same sort of arrangement as you find in rotary hay mower (I have a Dutch one of those that works brilliantly driven by a 50 year old IH tractor!).
Aha Yes I have seen a few of those narrow machines. And Often think about getting one. Are Aluminium or steel decked ? its a Hayter "Hawk" Heres a link to spare parts hehe www.shouldersofshoreham.co.uk/index.php/hayter-diagrams/hayter-hawk If looked after really well will go on forever as most parts are still available Especially engine parts. They match the Sprint 375 or Classic 3.5hp
The ole girl sounds great 👍
Thank you :)

The rear flap always seem to go missing on these mowers
I wish i could get a new flap it would stop the grass ending up on my trousers lol
@@LawnMowersThingsThatMakeNoise theres one on Ebay but its black, so would probably want to paint green
easy to fit as long as the retaining prongs on the plastic clamps have not snapped off
