To me, the Light represents forgiveness, second chances, mercy. While the darkness represents vengeance, an inevitable end, ruthlessness. Notice everything that I said represented both were things that humanity have both needed and wanted(which is which is up to you) for survival. The Light can be considered "good" but it can also be considered naive and childish and The Darkness can be considered "bad" but it can also be considered necessary.

Exactly. The traveler...if you think about it, is all goody two-shoes and that everything should be rainbows and stuff. No. Its reality we are talking about(in the destiny universe). The darkness may be evil, but its what we need. The traveler sugar codes things, even though we have lost some of our favorites and loved ones, it still does that. Look again to the Unveiling lore book, the Wager entry specifically:
"Here i wager that, given power over physics and the trust of absolute freedon, people will choose to build and *protect* a gentle kingdom *ringed in spears* . And not fall to temptation. And not surrender to division. And never yield to the cynicism that says, everyone else is so good that I can afford to be a little evil."
Those specific parts show that the Gardener concedes the necessity of the Winnower and the Darkness in its own win condition so long as its kept in check; spears are weapons of war that bring death and violence and endings, but are controlled and can be selective to whom they are pointed at, unlike an impenetrable wall that keeps everything in or out, or a soft thing that will integrate every possible threat into itself and the inner complexity its supposed to be protecting.
And now with the Prophecy dungeon, we know that the *use* of the Darkness abilities in of themselves hold no moral meaning. Which means that not only is us taking Darkness abilities totally fine so long as we don't also buy into its philosophies, the actual temptation, it's entirely possible the Gardener believed we would end up taking these powers and will still choose to protect those who can't protect themselves. That's how we defeat the Darkness, not through physical violence against a concept, but through proving it as a sentient idea philosophically wrong.
If the Darkness creates the sharpest blades, then it'll make the greatest spears to protect the gentle kingdom in the Light.

"Imagine The Traveller as a gigantic Basketball, able to shift it's size like a beam of the light it represents. Now, do the same with the Darkness, but rather than a ball, instead, think of it as a triangular hoop, it's shadowed 'net' giving way to the light of the basketball. We, as Guardians, can imagine ourselves as the basketball player, wielding the Traveller as we dribble it towards the hoop. If Ulan-Tan's teachings were false, the basketball would be unable to be 'dunked', as the shadow of the hoop would be impenetrable against the light of the basketball. Yet, as we practice this theory, the Light basketball passes through the Darkness hoop as described earlier. This is indicative of the balance between Light and Dark." - Luke the Flammable, Symmetrist

I like how Byf weaves in the lore of his own Guardian with the lore he is exploring.
EDIT: Also, it is interesting that the proposed descriptions of the Darkness in the D1 Grimoire card parallel some of the enemy factions:
Pujari’s proposal of an intangible force that comes from within parallels the Nightmares, and perhaps by extension the Hive.
Saint-14’s proposal of an invading, physical alien armada parallels the Fallen and the Cabal.
The Monist’s proposal of a technologically sophisticated force and information theory parallels the Vex.

One thing I'm curious about is what made the Traveller stay in Sol, but leave in Riis? What was it about Humanity and its Golden age that was different from the Eliksini and their own Golden age?
I mean, sure, both ended in a collapse but the Eliksini was abandoned right off the bat once the pyramid ships came (to our knowledge, at its *first* instance). Humanity entered a dark age and was given Ghosts and Guardians leading to the current city age and the ongoing *second* invasion of darkness.

It should be noted your speculation - when you refer to Eris and her thoughts in Unveiling - has a bit more support in the lore from this season, where she puts the thought another way: The Traveler lets Guardians do mostly whatever they want and never speaks (though it has Speakers, assuming one credits them with the ability to actually speak authoritatively for it rather than simply speaking to the whispers of Light that surround it). Eris posits that where the Winnower or Darkness commands, the Gardener or Traveler is silent because it understands that when a god speaks those subject to it must obey. Because to not do so would be heretical, antithetical to their subjecthood to that god. Thus a god's voice is, in a sense, coercive. And if the Traveler stands for the freedom of life to grow and self-determine, then it must remain silent until the last extremity.

I think the idea that the darkness is nessisarry but how much is still a question and if we contain darkness within ourselves can we wipe out what we would consider bad darkness. I also believe that darkness is off the belief of death and a very Darwinistic prospective while the light is more free will and expression. And that we would consider the darkness inherently evil to our agenda but that does not make the powers themselves or the existence of darkness evil.

Your synopses sounds pretty spot on to me. The darkness definitely has that darwinism theme lol but it can also be used to do good. Think of the story of Shin Malphur or Dredgen Veil. To me, light and darkness has always been part of the natural balance, like water and fire, predator and prey, without light there is no darkness, and vice versa. When ppl talk about "defeating the darkness" they dont mean the actual darkness, they mean the evil intentions of it. And im pretty sure with that comes a sacrafice. I think tht sacrafice will be the travelers will to protect all things and that will turn into our "burden" to carry. In the end, we will have the power of light and dark, but we will have control over both of their intentions and make necessary decisions that must be made for the survival of others.

I kept thinking the lost sector on IO named after this warlock. And theres an object above it where ikora visited many many times. It oversee the place where the traveler once was and the pyramidon.

Honestly, I apply this concept in my life and it make things easier to handle.
There are tons of people that show only light and my greatest concern is when the dark side comes up, can they really control it? Like the Warlock Aunor is an example, because if she's doing what she does and yet wields the light she is arguably more of a monster and almost Dredgen Yor tier is she completely falls.
Like the Drifter, I wear both the light and dark sides of myself on my sleeves. The ones who really scare the hell out me, which is saying something, are the Ultra Instinct type goody two shoes types for the reasons I mentioned.

Great video. Is mere survival all we seek? What is life without principle? Look around us, we see examples of that crushing all that we once held dear. Is it not better to go down, in the defense of what is right, than to live in the shadow of chaos and madness?

My ideas on weapons, armour, abilities and knowledge are the same: always search for more, as your arsenal is never complete. Test everything against what you have and know, so you know your arsenal best. Always search for the best option in any scenario, as there is always a better/ more complete one, or one which will grant a different outcome. And lastly, keep their origins in mind, so you will not be used.
