@@genryu_strike7992 yeah with the wirebug vault having such a low cooldown anyway, it could easily lead to even longer air time, don’t want to say infinite, but one can hope.
Powder mantle may not be meta good but as someone who doesn't really play for meta, it's a GOD DAMN BLAST using it along side intrepid heart lvl 2. Getting the free 300 dmg from IH when I get hit followed the 400+ dmg from PM is so satisfying as a dual blades main.
Wind mantle and lvl 3 wire bug whisperer are absolutely amazing for longsword, I've been running a serene pose counter playstyle with Tempered spirit blade and the fast cooldowns mean I can use it every few seconds
I wouldn't say the variant will have a "better" skill than blood rite per say, but maybe one that has great synergy with it. Kinda like Chaotic Gore and Bloodrite. Has new skills to synchronize with bloodrite instead of just replacing it
It's a fantastic combo. I usually get at least 5-6 powder mantle blasts off per hunt thanks to intrepid heart. My current build makes those blasts 480-510 damage a piece so it's a nice little boost.
Powder mantle on a LS Sakura Slash Sacred Sheath build goes brrrrr. Each tick of Sakura slash counts towards hit counter. Basically always have powder proced ticking towards blue.
@@oDDDflysPlanes Same with Wind Mantle. Every hit from Sakura props the cooldown to go down faster. I love how Sakura have been getting buffs without them touching the skill since it synergy so well with other skills like Intrepid Heart and Burst.
Wind Mantle seems to be so far the most exciting new skill. Guess it'll be a meta choice for Gunlancers, although i could see myself use it for Longsword (Sakura Slash) as well.
Just put together a build for the Teostra DB (IceBlast) with the Rusen Kaiser helm and Chest, Risen Kushala Waist, Velkhana Legs, and Risen Chamaleos arms. This explanation of Powder Mantle was greatly appreciated :)
I did sacrifice the waist piece of my full Violet Mizu set for the Risen Teostra one. There are times when I miss that 3rd point of Embolden as a Lance user, but hitting the blue powder explosion is just so satisfying.
Thank you for breaking down Wind Mantle. Out of all the new skills, this one really doesn't get talk about as much. I have been using Wind Mantle with my Long Sword and you can feel the difference. Namely, I run the Sakura/Sacred Sheath combo and Sakura has a long cooldown that takes one Wirebug. With Wirebug Whisperer +3 and Wind Mantle +1, I can constantly Sakura twice, Spirit Combo, Sacred Sheath and have a Wirebug ready for another Sakura. So me, Wind Mantle is worth at just one, but not sure if you want to make the full investment for three. Also, getting Burst is so good with Sakura.
Too much armor commitment for me, but Wind Mantle does sound pretty neat. I could Anchor Rage through even more attacks. But Embolden’s too good for a lance to give up.
Have been playing an impact crater spam playstyle and have been trying out Wind Mantle lvl 3. Found that with Focus 3 and strength style, 15 seconds is enough time to use impact crater, follow-up with a charged brutal big bang and then charge fully for the next crater. When it drops to 12 seconds after many attacks the wirebugs start to outpace being able to fully charge that way. It ends up letting me spam craters more often than I would have been normally able to with just Focus 3 and Wirebug 3.
Something I could see but wasn't clear on was that Wind Mantle just counts number of attacks while it has been active for its speed-up. Doesn't need to be a skillbind, just 10 attacks for each boost I found.
Correction, powder mantle for stage only goes off from getting hit with an attack that strong enough to knock you on the ground, an attack that flinch you or knock you on your but but not in the air does not cause the explosion. I'm not an expert so I get hit often and learned from my mistakes. It's perfect for insect glaive as it's the only weapon the increases your base atk which increase the damage of powder mantle.
Lv 3 Powder Mantle is really good for Harvest moon long sword build cuz getting the 13 hits threshold can be done in a few seconds every time there is down time, that damage adds up fast
Interesting. During my AR grind using Dual Blades, I found that using one level of Wind Mantle has actually been very helpful to more consistently use Silk Binds like Spiral Slash and Ironshine Silk. In between Spiral Slashes I'll use Ironshine Silk as a quick Sharpness Recovery without having to stop the fighting which seemed to further reduce the CD of Spiral Slash. I've been using the helmet for this and have been enjoying the quicker cooldown times. Maybe its just me. I wouldn't be surprised, but it does seem to improve help my playstyle be more consistent with dual swords. I do agree that Powder Mantle isn't that great overall, but I do still use 2 parts of it as a passive damage buff. For the moment at least. I haven't unlocked all the AR skills yet, so maybe I'll switch to something else down the line for a more consistent setup. Until then, back to the grind Hunters.
1 level of wind mantle has made my long sword fucking amazing lol. I always preferred Sakura slash and I can keep it up way more consistently even with just 1 level of wind mantle. Plus the helmet provides 3 wirebug whisperer so it's a great pick.
If you had the choice between lvl 1 Wind mantle and lvl 1 Marathon runner which would you go for? I'm in a tough debate at the moment as I use wind mantle for ironshine silk a lot for DB. Stamina hasn't been an issue so it's more of a comfort debate i guess.
I would like to point out some of the damage values can be altered to deal much higher damage that in this video. In my testing of the skill, i was scoring 500 - 600 damage per pop of powder mantle and in the 450 range when im just letting it time out. I believe getting more hits in while wreathed in the red dust will influence the final pop of damage. Insect glaives and ranged weapons should look into this cause bugs and shots will trigger the explosion.
I Augmented Powder Mantle off my Teo helmet. I wanted to use it but I got Element Exploit on the Risen Teo helmet. A worthy sacrificie. Now the Silver Rathalos chest can go into retirement.^^
I like the Wind Mantle/Wirebug Whisperer on sword and shield so far. The 3 Kushala pieces have become my go to for my water and ice elemental builds since it also come with Kushala Blessing and all the healing advantages.
Wind Mantle definitely seems like a nice comfort skill to have to accompany Whisperer. As a GS user, while we definitely want to power sheathe often when using the counter the reduction in recovery time would definitely be a boon.
Huh I was thinking we'd get a Malzeno variant next update along with Risen Shagaru and with blood rite being a deco that only helps this theory. Originally I was thinking it'd be a 'Pure Malzeno", however now I also believe there's a chance that we may get a "Frenzy Malzeno", rather than taking away his corruption entirely, they give him a different kind. Which would be fitting with the Shagaru taking his.
Powder mantle seems interesting. I'm trying a Lance build with intrepid heart and powder mantle. Flaming Espinas Lance. It legit seems like it has promise.
The blue powder coming from a Teo armor skill only means one thing, Lunastra. And we know we’re getting a “new” elder dragon when TU4 drops. I dont hate Luna but I hope we get another ED other than her.
So would wind mantle be good for counter Switch Axe? If the multiple hits of the counter count as hits to speed up the recovery it should be good right?
Wind mantle can be pretty good for lance since you can just spam spiral thrust all the time, also funnily enough making the lance the most mobile weapon on the battlefield lmao
SnS with Wind Mantle is glorious. Spam Shield Bashes folowed by Drill combo. Shield, Drill, Shield, Drill. With a blast SnS, Powder Mantle and Hellfire, the knockdowns and flinching is great
Powder mantle is not hard to build for. I rebuilt my LS build and ended with more skills overall than before and had powder mantle extra on top. It's not the most amazing skill but all the deco slots makes it just a cherry on top. I had an entirely unused 4 slot after replicating my previous builds skills and got full Stamina Thief on top of it all.
with sakura slash you have a very high uptime of this skill basically a guestimate is 1/minute and you get 6k damage in 10 minutes. I would not underestimate that skill.
I main longsword and use intrepid heart as well as the new powder mantle and wind mantle skills. After 3 Sakura slashes intrepid heart is charged up which takes priority if you take a hit so you can keep the powder from the powder mantle. It's insane the boost in damage I got from these 3 skills.
@@arwoodian1524 Update: i also discovered, using sonic barrier with HH takes priority in the "layers". it all goes like, Sonic barrier -> intrepid heart -> powder mantle. the only time that intrepid heart gets triggered for me is when it's a monster that has double hitting attacks.
I really wish they'd stop with the diminishing returns on these kinds of skills. Like if your going to have to go for 3 armour pieces make ranks 2 and 3 worth that investment instead of consistently opening at 10% bonuses then going to 15% and ending on 20%. Of course we are going to stop at one rank why would we triple our investment to mearly double our output? Its dumb. And while I recognise these are high value pieces of armour in their own right, decrease the traditional skills on them and make these skills more impressive and fun so that it we arn't making every build with maxed out crit or attack then putting in fun stuff. Its not really how I build in solo but if I'm playing with other people if I'm not at least somewhat building around a boring set of core skills I'm short changing my team mates and I hate that a little bit. That being said its nice to have bloodlust, crit flips and masters touch back in the fray. Gimme that sweet 100% crit rate, 450 raw + some 90 odd dragon, hardly ever sharpening, damage train of pain baby!
For the ig mains : When the powder is blue sending your kinsect to attack can trigger the explosion from a distance.
Now I’m interested. Do you think it would good paired with the awakened kinsect attack? Both wind mantle and powder mantle?
