  • In case you missed part 1:
    • Let's Build a Really D...
    After some changes in perspective and life, I spent a few weeks putting together a performance moped in what could be seen as a warm-up before getting back to the Virago. This was a lot of fun.

    You have always done a good job because you finish your projects. Long or short. I hate watching videos where the project never gets done. In my job as an aircraft wrench my task is to finish the projects which may have been started by many other shops and individuals. I am The Finisher. You are too. I like this project but have also liked the others. The main thing is do you love riding them? That is all that really matters.

    Such a sick build! Gotta admit I kinda dig the bicycle tank lol. Seeing the bars from the rider POV definitely makes them look tough to deal with, that's a whole lotta pronation

    • @Theillestrator1050
      @Theillestrator1050  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, and the bars actually feel pretty fine. There's no real comfort sacrifice with using these bars as is (at least for my structure) and I might be weird but I really like the unusual angle of them visually.

    You can add a capacitor to help with the light flashing

    • @markopolo945
      @markopolo945 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you mean load resistor?

    • @g8344
      @g8344 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They make 12volt capacitors for dirt bikes to ditch the battery(battery eliminator), or you can use an car audio amplifier capacitor(like a 2-10uf). They smooth out the voltage output from the stator by collecting electrons on a higher voltage output and releasing electrons on a low voltage output.
      But that is only if you do not want the blinking feature. Hell you could goto batteries plus and probably get a small battery to do the same thing.

    • @aspectcarl
      @aspectcarl ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to suggest the same electrolytic at 25volts, at a guess 2200uf

    • @aspectcarl
      @aspectcarl ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@markopolo945no, a capacitor will help provide a voltage while the generator is at the off cycle, helping to fill in the off time. A resistor will drop the generator voltage making it work harder and will inevitably get hot when robbing voltage to the rest of the machine.

    • @thatbuelldude189
      @thatbuelldude189 ปีที่แล้ว

      @aspectcarl thanks for explaining that before i could get it typed up
      This is a common practice on custom choppers
      Easyer to hide a capacitor than it is to hide a battery

  • @weegaz22
    @weegaz22 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    A trick to try for smoothing out voltage for the brake light pulsing is to put a capacitor in line with it, the cap kinda acts like a tiny battery to help give a more consistent voltage rather than the spikey wave you get at tickover.

      @@Theillestrator1050the simple solution is to always carry a bicycle lock (ulock through the wheel and around a shock or chain it to something), the other solution is to make it look too decrepit to be worth stealing.
      Cheers from someone whose uncle owns pretty much every model of Tomos (APNs and the BT50 are my favorite) and I'm considering buying one for myself to mess around with, thankfully if you snoop around villages you're likely to find cheap ones here.

    Hi there! a 1:40 oil concentration is a bit too much oil for a moped, as thats usually used for garden machinery. its better to run 1:50 since oil doesn't cool a two stroke engine.

    Kinda hilarious to see the moped scene in the US, growing up where I did mopeds were ubiquitous and just cheap transport, not cool and quirky like it seems to be here. Also, not sure about the big “isky cams” sticker on a two stroke… LOL

    • @Theillestrator1050
      @Theillestrator1050  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah There's a whole subculture here with mopeds that's kinda punk or alt in nature. For us in NYC, "pasolas" or Chinese scooters are the bland cheap transportation. But vintage European mopeds tend to be more niche... But I can't speak for the rest of America.
      And yeah, most of the stickers on the bike are inspired by vintage race cars.

    Looks like a fun bike. Definitely show more riding footage. Imagine 4 stroke fuel injected mopeds. That is something I would want for less maintenance. The closest thing to that would be a Grom. Have you tried a Z125, grom, TNT 135, Spade 150, Papio 125 or a KP Mini? The appeal to 2stoke carb moped is lighter weight and able to pedal if breaks down. There is a 4stroke moped that exist if any interested it's the SSR Lazer 5 & 6.

    • @Theillestrator1050
      @Theillestrator1050  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some people throw Lifan Honda clone motors in these frames to get pretty close to that. It's usually looked down upon by moped enthusiasts though lol.
      Yes I've ridden a grom and z125 before. I think the acceleration on this bike is matches or maybe exceeds a 4 stroke 125.... until the top speed of course.

    • @MisterSal9895
      @MisterSal9895 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Theillestrator1050 Interesting. I didn't think about that. That sounds like a big project because you have to make sure the engine fits, use special tools, wire harness and other stuff like possibly converting carberated to fuel injection. I heard a 50cc 2 stroke is equivalent to 100c 4stroke and 2stroke moped are almost 100 lbs lighter than a Grom so no wonder they so close or tied in acceleration. Acceleration is what really matters on these minimoto for city riding. Thanks for the reply.

    • @GTAmaniac1
      @GTAmaniac1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MisterSal9895these things are crazy light, APNs barely exceed 60 kg and I doubt automatics are any different weight wise. Even in stock form they're loads of fun (although you should constantly keep an eye on the situation behind you because they aren't exactly quick). Still they use barely any fuel (if the carb float isn't stuck causing it to leak) and are insanely capable off-road, especially if you get better springs+shocks and knobby tires.

    • @EllaBananas

      Used to be hella into motorized bikes and ebikes before I got my motorcycle. Had more close calls on those than I ever did on my motorcycle.
      Course, it wasnt until two months ago that I actually got hit. One car pulled out almost side swiping me, and then half a second later a car pulled out right in front of me and decided to stop on a green light. I applied the brakes, but with only 5-10 feet to come to a complete stop from 30, there wasnt much to be done. I faceplanted the back of the car and got knocked out cold before snapping both wrists and 11 ribs. and apperently while I was out cold the driver in front told their story to the cops and got me labeled as the one at fault.
      So, now I'm out a bike, and up two titanium wrist plates and a shitload of medical debt. Upside is my wrists are coming along nicely and already I have the strength to ride again. Just gonna have to wait until I can scrape togeather some cash for my next bike. I'm thinking sv650.
