  • In this quick tutorial, I explain how to use the CC Composite effect in Adobe After Effects. I'll also show how you can use CC Composite with a few other effects to create a faux 3D extrusion.

    _NO ONE teaches this program the way you do, Jake. You delve into the nuances and the minutiae of it all. I've watched legions of other After Effects instructors, yet none match your language mastery and, most importantly, your THOUGHTFULNESS when you explain the program. I used to be intimidated by AE, and would edit on Premiere. Thanks to your tutelage, admittedly, I have come a long way whence I initially began on this long ongoing journey. You are highly regarded and much appreciated. THANK YOU!_

    CC Composite is a great effect. I use it in the process of adding a dynamic border around photos. I edit the original photo using a simple choker to extend the edges then use a tint to make the border the colour I want and then use the CC composite to place the original photo in front. This way I can easily replace the photo with any dimensions and still keep my border and animation intact

    • @rahuldeshpande3516
      @rahuldeshpande3516 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nikyabodigital Here's some explanation:
      a. Apply Simple Choker to your image - and increase the value negatively - you will notice the alpha channel of the image expand (so the layer will now appear larger). And these new pixels you see (because of Simple Choker) will be black in color (because these pixels have an Alpha value of 1, but a color value of 0). If you want to change this color from black to something else - apply a Tint or Fill effect (anything u like really). Now go ahead and apply CC Composite to this layer (after the Fill effect or Tint effect). Notice your image now appears with a border around it, with the color of the border the same as the color you chose for the Fill/Tint effect.
      Now you could animate this image - or whatever you do - the border will remain around it. Also, you could change the image altogether - and these effects will still be there. Does this make more sense?

    Thanks for explaining what each part of the effect means for these videos (like what does RGB only in the cc composite) . So many tutorials just tell you to tick the boxes or insert 10 in opacity and never explain what it means and why you change that setting. So hard to use effects when you don't understand the individual properties that can ease the workflow for a beginner like me. Hope to see more of this. Thank you

    that "RGB only" checkbox is the magic button I'd been looking for!
    Been trying to create a quick and dirty cast shadow preset (inspired by red Gian't "shadow" plugin) using this stack of effects: Fill (with Shadow color) - Transform (to flop/rotate shadow into position) - CC Slant to angle the shadow - blurs/curves/and or anything else to match the scene lighting - and....cc composite! to slap that original layer back on top and contain it all in one layer.
    Couldn't figure out why it wasn't working till I rewatched and rediscovered that magic RGB only check box. Worked like a charm, helping me create my first pseudo effect 🙏many cheers Jake!

    Seriously. How many times am I gonna be saved by this video series? I'm doing a visualizer for a megamix of 14 tracks that's almost a half hour long. Each track I'm applying a different visual style using an adjustment layer. What I wanted to do was the classic linear wipe with a little bit of feathering ala Star Wars, but it kept wiping everything. Didn't even consider CC Composite. Now it's the final effect on those layers with the Transfer Mode set to Behind and RGB Only Unchecked. Boom. Donion rings. Thank you yet again!

    Excuse me, but I have an issue about the cc composite effect, I don’t know why but I have a shifting/ offset problem while using it, currently using ae2023, I have searched it on adobe community and found that same question occurred to others, but no solutions and feedback . I hope someone will give suggestions to me , thank you.
    Edit: Shifting only occurred after applying the effects in pre-composed layer, have already checked that the size and position are exactly the same as the layer inside. When directly applied it in the layer or adjustment layer, it worked perfectly.

    th-cam.com/video/J3ApvB8sqD0/w-d-xo.html didn't this school of motion video adress the fuzziness? Since you're using that many transform effects it just gets pixelated naturally, so you just need to rasterize again (which would make this effect slow but oh well)
