    America should be preserving these icons of yesteryear, not breaking them up, they are Nationally Historic.

    My Dad sold a lot of insurance over lunch at the Brown Derby, lol. And I ate at the second one a few times as a kid! Unforgettable!

    Its sad that they got rid of charming and historic architecture for high rise crap that doesnt even look good and just makes the city more congested with traffic.

    They need to bring the Brown Derby back! My Dad and Great Grandma used to tell the old stories they heard about the place. I'm pretty sure my Great Grandma ate there when she was young. I used to live a few blocks from where you are on Normandie and Wilshire. We had a view of the Hollywood Sign from our balcony. My stepmother worked at a men's tailor shop called GB Harb & Son's, if memory serves. It was across from that big hotel, the Ambassador (I believe my Dad used to work there.) We could see the Equitable building from my bedroom window. It's lights lit up my bedroom at night. I'm loving your vlogs. It's like a tour of my home towns. ;))

    One of the things I regret was not eating at the Brown Derby being born & raised in Southern California and living so close to these landmarks. Thanks for allowing us to reminisce those places in time. I enjoyed seeing little Jahster on his speed walking mission❣️ He had the same way of walking like my chihuahua mix we rescued from the Burbank dog shelter. She was a brindled colored female and my best friend. Sadly she only lasted 12 1/2 yrs. but at least we gave her a chance to live her life. Thank U for everything you do and I wish you the best for you and Jahster wherever you end up in life. ❤️🙏🏻🌈

    Great interesting vlog. Too bad they don't keep all the old historic Hollywood restaurants like the Brown Derby and Chasen's. Many people love to dine at historic old restaurants even ones from the 1700s that still exist on the East Coast ...Once these historic artistic places are destroyed there's no going back, ditto for historic homes! It's all about having a sense of culture and history as well as an appreciation of unique architecture as well. Thanks for shaing~

    • @brendadrew834
      @brendadrew834 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chamazombie3 Old architecture has not only history, but charm and character and soul! I like some modern like the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and some others but much of it really lacks soul and leaves me cold! Look what they did in NYC when they covered up the iconic beautiful Huntington Hartford Gallery at Columbus Circle which had beautiful romantic lines and was a great example of modern 60s architecture with influences from the Islamic culture with it's graceful curves! All they've done is cover it up with boring straight lines, ho hum! A real travesty! smdh

    I am 69 years old. Ate at Brown Derby, comic shows at Ambassador. Worked on the block next door, by IBM building.
    Ate at Cliftons when I was 5 years old. Went to old Pike, POP. Long Beach Coin show may reopen in Sept. 2021.
    Largest show in world.. Jordan would like this. I actually saw Dodgers play in Collesium when I was a kid. Watched Watts riots
    and been through many earthquakes. Still listen to Jimmi Hendrix, Yes, Boston.

    It was Herbert Sandborn who was married to Silent Star Gloria Swanson came up with the idea while dining at the Alexandria Hotel that people would eat out of a hat provided the food was good enough and that’s how the restaurant was born. To my knowledge it was never called anything other than The Brown Derby and it originally sat directly across from the Ambassador Hotel. In the 30s the addition was added due to its popularity.

    Cheers Jordan,
    I have eaten many times at the Brown Derby on Wilshire Blvd. when it was there in the shape of a hat. i used to work at Carte Blanche Corp. that was back in the 1970s which was across the street at the Wilshire Plaza Bldg, which was having 3 towers with offices. I used to eat with my co-workers from Carte Blanche, we would go there for lunch. I later in 1980 got a job in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and worked there for 40 years until 2019, when I retired and I left Jeddah for Tangier, which was a hide out for many American writers, like Paul Bowels, William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsburg, Byron Gysin, Ira Cohen, Tennessee Williams, many more. There hideouts are still here and usually plaqued, as is the old American Embassy. You might have seen the wonderful film, The Wind and the Lion, staring Sean Connery, Candice Bergman and John Houston. I was born in Pasadena in 1946, I have lived in Los Angeles, Marina Del Rey and Beverly Hills before moving to Jeddah in 1980. I have visited over 40 countries, including most of the countries in Africa, Middle East, Europe and Asia. Your videos are the best, love ya, Selim Al Rashid. You can see about me just by GOOGLE my name, Selim Al Rashid. I used to work for Saudi Cable Company.

He's passed away since then , but the vet told me as long as he walks or runs a lot , that will keep them trimmed down . His name was Elivs . We didn't name him that . The person that had him before we got him , named him Elivs . He was such a good dog . Now I have a bloodhound named Bella and an English Bulldog , her name is Irene . lol !

    I could be wrong but I think with dog nails if you only trim them occasionally, the wick will grow out and you will only be able to trim them a little bit. If you keep going back often the wick will eventually become shorter and shorter and they will be able to trim his nails shorter without making him bleed and it won't be painful for him.
