The cinematic battle scene where Sir Forteskiu charges forward towards the evil army like an absolute hero of a prophecy only to get one shotted by an arrow is one of the most epic moments in gaming history.
Always found it unfair that Dan wasn’t considered a hero he died in battle he rallied his men and charged he could have hid away like a coward but he led the army bravery. I’d consider that heroic
To be fair, each and every single one of the men who fought that day charged and fought against an evil force that day. They're ALL heroes, but I think the place only recognized capital H Heroes who were successful and left a legend in their place.
I think although he bravely led the charge, he was the first to die being shot with an arrow into his eye I don't think that that is a Hero-worthy death for Daniel; they did give him a hero's tomb tho, but yeah I was sad he wasn't originally in the Hall of Heroes Satisfying when you complete the game and get to drink from the chalice :3
It's not about being brave, it is about being remembered. The Hall of Heroes is filled with people who every citizen of Gallowmere will be able to recite the stories of from memory, think about Hercules from our own world...kinda. Dan has a legend which earns him a statue in the Hall of Heroes but it lacks any substance because he didn't do the things he is remembered for, but after Medievil he is remembered by the citizens of Gallowmere as the guy who rose from the dead and killed Zarok and restored the kingdom, which he actually did, hence his solid statue and place among the Heroes.
I’m so happy you covered this! I don’t hear about this game much and it’s so nostalgic for me. When I was a kid I would watch my dad play it and it was just spooky enough to give me a little scare but not so much that I was bothered by it
I always found funny the fact that Daniel's shame come from him dying to a arrow in the eye. Like, it's embarrassing, but it also sounds like something completely out of his control, a very terrible struck of misfortune. What was he supposed to do? Step a meter back and don't catch the arrow in the eye?
Thank you for this. I enjoy all your content, it has yet to be something I've played, mostly stuff I wish I played or am just curious about. But this is pure nostalgia for me- I played the demo countless times on PlayStation as a kid but was too young to grasp (or care about ) the plot
I loved playing this game so much!! My mom and I would take turns trying to get through the game. I still reference a few things from this game, and nobody knows what I’m talking about😂 Thank you so much for this one!
Man. You made this story a sound somewhat serious. Then again, it's about as silly as other horror franchises; it just is more self aware of that fact.
I remember being scared sh!tless playing the demo, when the zombies started emerging from the ground once you left the crypt... Took some time before I were able to complete the full games, loved them. Dan Fortesque is one of my favourite characters ever to this day. Fun fact: If you find the OST on TH-cam, you can see the original composer in the comments :-) Cheers!
Omg I had the exact same issue, also the same as the start of Medieval 2? Haha left the game for a while and when I played it I was like what was I scared of their face is one pixel 😂
I love this game so much. Whenever I got my first PlayStation a 1997, the only two things I had to play were a demo of this game and the demo of Need for Speed
I really hope MediEvil 2 gets the remake treatment one day. That game was such a BONKERS step forwards for the series on the PSOne, but it's just never gotten the same attention and love as the first game since.
Aaaahhh yes MediEvil my word weeks were spent attempting to advance in this game. Indeed the camera is what was the biggest issue, I remember at one point seeing it in the PS4 game store as a online play title I think? Tried it then really struggled still because of how old the mechanics still felt. But fun game fun game.
I loved the original I got it with a demo disc with a ps1 magazine back in the day ended up with it for xmas with nightmare creatures another ps1 banger
I got this game for Christmas 1998. Loved it. Had to restart the game whilst hunting for all the chalices to get the best ending. But lost my best weapon in the crystal caves. My memory card was sketchy and my saves were about 2 hours into the game that I could get to. Frustrated. But good memories.
If anyone played this on the ps1, you hated when the demo ran out when you got to the top of the hill w the rolling boulders 😂😢😂😢😂 holy shit i was maybe 5-6yrs old
I loved this game as a kid and remember it all vividly. I liked the second one too but don't think I finished it and don't remember the whole narrative in the same detail. Something about time travel and Jack the Ripper or something?
I have a question will Half Life be in a retro vault episode? Tbh i don't know which game could be in a retro vault episode since this is my first time watching one of these
Given everything Dan goes through in this game, he would have led his army to victory if that bowman hadn't gotten a lucky shot. And if he's considered incompetent, what were the other knights like?
I missed first game, but was OBSESSED with second game. I played psp remake later in life. But watching this video I feel like it’s pretty different from original game. P.S. why Dan’s human form is so uglyyyyyy 😂 He was my childhood crush (in his skeleton form). I’ll pretended i didn’t see those arts and comics. 🤣
FYI, Medieval 2 is REALLY fun too, but they give Sir Dan a HORRIBLE Cockney accent, and he talks normally....no mumbles and guttural sounds because HE HAS NO LOWER JAW. The game is absolutely fun to play, though.
I’m rooting for the villain as this is the 1990’s version and hero backstory of John Wick. Anyone else disagree? The wizard turns to villainy when the royal guard kill his puppy as a child? I mean, hell, it probably takes a while to be a mage in this world.

@@TheOmegaXicor thank you so much! This makes perfect sense, it was a pleasure to read your insight on Dan's hero hood, I loved it ❤
I love that zaroks entire backstory is just john wick with magic
For those who don't know, the MediEvil remake comes with the ps1 classic original as an unlock able.
Wowowow
The first game I bought with my own money. It will always have a special place for me. 25 years already. Bruh

Yes thank you so much for covering this gem of a game!!!
loved watching my dad play video games when i was growing up. this game and Maximo were 2 of my favorites ❤
Ah Harry I love you my dad and I used to play Medievil 2 back in the early 2000s
Great video. I found you through your Visage playthrough. Glad these old games are getting the love they deserve.

An absolute classic. Elite gaming nostalgia.
Thank you for doing these retro videos Harry. These are always a nostalgic treat for a guy who grew up playing the PS1 😊
I loved playing this game so much!! My mom and I would take turns trying to get through the game. I still reference a few things from this game, and nobody knows what I’m talking about😂 Thank you so much for this one!
Ahh what a nostalgic throwback! Hopefully the Medievil 2 vid is out soon, I played that game so much!!!

One of the best games ever on the PS1. The fact that he can’t enunciate because he doesn’t have a lower jaw always just…it’s so good!
I was JUST thinking about this game about a week or two ago! Love it
Great video, I remember playing this on PS1 as a demo, I'll have to get the new version
Thanks for the video!

Fantastic game, one of top tier favourites of my childhood on PSX.
God damn Harry you really bringing back the memories with this one
Gotta say, I freakin' love this game 💙
I really hope MediEvil 2 gets the remake treatment one day. That game was such a BONKERS step forwards for the series on the PSOne, but it's just never gotten the same attention and love as the first game since.

One of my favorite games ever made!
I loved the original I got it with a demo disc with a ps1 magazine back in the day ended up with it for xmas with nightmare creatures another ps1 banger
Harry, I would suggest adding Clock Tower series in the retro vault if you played it. It's a great series to dive into as well
Yeah, currently trying to source reasonably priced copies of the games
Ooh nice, replaying those would be a blast!

Great game
finally was waiting for this since I saw the banner
Nice work fella
Wow! I did not know these two decades ago.
When is MediEvil 2 coming out? Love your videos by the way.
Hell yeah my boy Sir Daniel Fortesque
Hey, could you do Grim Fandango? That’s a classic.
Agreed! Would love to see him cover Grim Fandango or Day of the Tentacle ❤
If anyone played this on the ps1, you hated when the demo ran out when you got to the top of the hill w the rolling boulders 😂😢😂😢😂 holy shit i was maybe 5-6yrs old
The demo also had Spyro and Gran Turismo!
My favourite game of all time
Please cover the OG Deus ex, you could play the revision version with updated mechanics and visuals.
love this new serie
I never played this before it did look interesting
This series makes me feel ancient
I am positive I played this on the Sega Mega Drive in 1993. Though due to the amount of time that has passed I wouldn't argue I'm right.
I miss this game!!!!!
This game looks so good damn
I loved this game as a kid and remember it all vividly. I liked the second one too but don't think I finished it and don't remember the whole narrative in the same detail. Something about time travel and Jack the Ripper or something?
The MediEvil remake is a good choice for anyone wanting the original PS1 game, as it comes with the full PS1 game as an unlockable.
Condemned 2 please I’m going insane waiting for it
Tomba!! You should do next
When i heard about the headbangers in the asylum, all i could think about is "so this has been where quiet riot was hiding" (points if you get it)
This was one of the first games i ever got to play, however it was the PsP one. With a little green man in Sir Dan’s eye? Hm
I have a question will Half Life be in a retro vault episode? Tbh i don't know which game could be in a retro vault episode since this is my first time watching one of these
Any game that was during the PS3,Xbox 360 and down
You should check out the game Primal for the PlayStation 2. I have really really good memories of that game if you ever do play it I hope you like it.
Can't wait for Soul Reaver/Legacy of Kain
Do far cry 1. Best far cry story by far.
Ah, memories
This, Crash, Gex, Spyro... Very PS1 exclusive haha
Given everything Dan goes through in this game, he would have led his army to victory if that bowman hadn't gotten a lucky shot.
And if he's considered incompetent, what were the other knights like?
oh....I never got to play the original MediEvil but the remake was good. I did instead got to play the sequel called MediEvil 2.
Could you possibly do a retro vault video from Spider-Man Web of shadows? Since Spider-Man 2 is coming out? Also huge fan of your channel by the way
Leading a charge and gettim brained. Seems honorable to me
needs a movie
Anyone else remember playing the demo on Ps1?
Yes
And then I finally played the full game in 2016 or 2018 (I low-key don't remember)and the og version three months ago
I still have it!
Oh, the old demo disks. I played it so many times
💖💖💖
Xbox360 is old retro games now. 😢
I feel you! I miss the 2000s
Hey, Harry can you please cover Elder Scrolls, Dead Raising, and Starfield.
Thank you
I remember being scared of this skelly because of playstation demo
Awesome! Could please Doom series both original and 2016 reboot. Thank you
I missed first game, but was OBSESSED with second game.
I played psp remake later in life. But watching this video I feel like it’s pretty different from original game.
P.S. why Dan’s human form is so uglyyyyyy 😂

Loved this game as a kid. The sequel... not so much.
I like the sequel, and I think the gameplay is much better; however, the sequel lacks that gothic, creepy atmosphere of the original MediEvil.
Ok
I love this game, but the comic was so underwhelming and unnecessary in my opinion. 😅
Can you do splinter cell?
I would practice sorcery too if the king killed my cat
FYI, Medieval 2 is REALLY fun too, but they give Sir Dan a HORRIBLE Cockney accent, and he talks normally....no mumbles and guttural sounds because HE HAS NO LOWER JAW. The game is absolutely fun to play, though.
I love the second game, but there are definitely design choices that I didn’t appreciate.
Do a lore n order on atomicheart
