      This is the simplest question to answer, you clearly respect us and the country, we do the same to you and your birthplace too. thats all there is to it. we only judge people from the bad things they do. who you are and where you are from dont matter, its what you do and say , and think of others what matters

    Chico, guys like you will never have any problem living in here. You have a good and kind attitude, with respecting and being honest to others. We don’t have to see you as same color, because more importantly we see you and learn to know you as equal. Mutually earned respect is one of our virtues.

    One should never be concerned about the Finnish language, Finns admit it's a very difficult language to learn but are more than happy to speak English once they understand you also speak the language. It has been my experience, and pleasure, to know that many, many Finnish people speak an excellent level of English.
    Probably a better level than I do.
    My wife was born and raised in Finnish Lapland, quite a remote area now with a rapidly dwindling population, just a scattering of elderly living in the complete silence of the nature with the ghosts of their memories. It's a world that is gradually disappearing.
    For me personally, there's a complete sense of freedom.
    Particularly so during the long winter months which I absolutely adore. Summer isn't really my cup of tea because the air is filled with creatures that either want to burn, sting or bite you. As a Yorkshire lad, I have found, much to my disappointment, These creatures never leave me alone. They must think I'm exotic food. I'm so relieved the season is short.

    • @MikkoMurmeli
      @MikkoMurmeli 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, summer is the worst season here. I've lived in Finland all my life, 40 years now. And I do think that a colder and shorter summer might be okay, but I think it's gotten too long and too hot too maybe. Autumn and spring are kinda great, but in springtime, especially in southeast Finland, you better be careful when you move in the woods, bear just woken up from winter sleep might get you there. But I don't know if it ever happens these days.

    These kind of things are always complicated and weird, and I think pretty much every country struggles with them at least a bit.
    Finland's main thing is that we just want to live in our little corner of the world in peace... And that's pretty much it.
    Sometimes that comes out as "leave me alone!" and sometimes as "eh, whatever. you do you, I'll do me".
    I feel like you have got the hang of that pretty well, and for the language... You know, just go "noniin", and you're pretty much golden!

    As an American Black woman from the USA who have dated two Finnish men and one Danish man, I have visited several times and personally respect and love the Scandinavian Nordic countries except for the extreme cold weather but I do love sauna culture:) I've had a sauna in my home for a long time because of my experience with the Scandinavian Nordic culture and its people. I even enjoy Hygge from Denmark. I also get it when you said that you realized everything was in a different language. This is called culture shock. I experienced this when my then Finn/Swed boyfriend and I were walking to the store. I was looking at the signs and noticed that none of the words were in English. I bursted out and started crying for about two-three minutes then I was good.
    I personally feel those Scandinavian Nordic countries have done it correctly! I met my first Finnish boyfriend when he came to the USA as a University professional tennis player at a neighboring University. He opened my world to a whole new global perspective when it came to dating. He was kind, genuine, spoke several languages, extremely intelligent, fit, adventurous, a sense of humor, and just a great guy:) He went back to get his MBA but we stayed in touch for a long time as friends. He is now in east Asia and is doing extremely well. He still inspires me to do well!
    I met my next Finnish boyfriend when I lived in a Honors(high GPA)/ Upperclassmen/ International Educational Exchange student dormitory where both genders resided the following year. He's Finnish(actually he's half-Finnish and half-Swedish) but grew up with in Finland. He's the reason I visited Finland(including Lapland and northern Sweden). Another great guy who actually asked me to marry him. I met his entire family and most were wonderful except female cousin who lives in Lapland. His other female cousin who lives in Helsinki is so awesome! I often think if I had accepted his proposal, we would be next door neighbors and raised our children together while watching old episodes of Sex and The City, travelling as families, creating wonderful memories, and all of us growing older together:) I still care for him but more like family now. After him, I met a wonderful Danish guy when he came to the USA to work for a Danish company operating in the USA. We met in an affluent neighborhood. I looked up and thought to myself, 'Who is That'? as a Michael Jackson song was playing in the background:) We danced all night and began dating:) We were both two young well-educated professionals enjoying our lives. I've had wonderful experiences and know that their government believes in investing in their citizens. I could also tell that they came from Families who took care and invested in them as well.
    I personally feel it's not the responsibility of another country(super wealthy Western country) to take care of people who choose to flee to another country instead of fighting to make their own country sustainable and a great place to live. Even moving from South Africa to Finland is a win-win for you honestly because those Scandinavian Nordic countries believe in equality, they're great people with low crime and low corruption. I personally fee, l they should be extremely cautious about allowing foreign people into their country.
    The USA is the wealthiest country but invites people from all over the world as International Educational Exchange students and on Work Visas. People are allowed to enter the USA as Green Card Holders when a foreign person is dating, soon to marry an American. The USA is extremely diverse but immigration must be done correctly and there's no 'confusion' in that. The USA is currently dealing with an influx of unskilled unwanted people from non-Western countries and that's not a good thing! The sudden influx of people to the USA isn't an isolated occurrence but is happening throughout The West and a lot of people from super wealthy Western countries including the Scandinavian Nordic countries have experienced or observed negative behavior from new arrivals(illegal and legals) and have grown frustrated with these new people's unwillingness to assimilate, hostility, tribalism, passive aggressiveness, trying to sabotage or gaslight you, their negative cultural views on women, extreme religious ideologies, the native population taxpayer's money going for benefits to illegal and even new legal arrives while some native people aren't receiving these benefits. I think this is why there has been a 180 degree change on immigration throughout The West. Even I use to love all these new people arriving because I thought they were like the International Educational Exchange students from my dormitory and like the phenomenal Scandinavian Nordic guys that I dated but most are not. I know currently South Africans are complaining about an influx of neighboring Africans immigrating to South Africa for jobs or as economic refugees. I think all native population want to be respected and not take care of adults( foreign men/women and children) who should take care of themselves by their countries of origin while new arrivals assimilate and add positively to that new country. If you do decide to come to the USA legally the road to citizenship is a extremely long and difficult process with lots of money required. Across The West the native population are calling for massive deportation to occur. Will this happen? I'm unsure🇺🇸

      @inspiredbynatureinspiredby5586 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@brunovilela4219Yes, especially if it's the first time you left the USA to visit a non-speaking English country.
      . When growing up in the USA everything was in English. One of my high school math teachers was from India but he and she family spoke English. My first experience with people outside the USA were the International Educational Exchange students who lived in my Upperclassmen/Honors(high grade point averages or Grades), and International students. I even asked, 'Where are you guys from'? They told me but I didn't realize these International students were the Elites of where they came from. I thought all Europeans were of a certain caliber or high Standard so I tended to gravitate towards Internationas who remind me of my fellow dormitory mates and ex-boyfriends. I remember watching the UK show Eastenders or the first time. I thought those are certainly not the people stayed in my dormitory. My first International boyfriend was a professional tennis player from Finland at a USA University near my University. He's a phenomenal guy and he still inspires me. My next boyfriend was Danish that I met after University. I knew he was from Europe at one glance. I remember looking up and thought, ' Who is that'? In a Good way. Turns out he also is from one of those Elite European Families. A English guy I dated as well. Elite as well. There's just unspoken social cues. He attended the same Boarding School as Harry and William. Attended Oxford throughout and graduated with a PhD in the Sciences and Philosophy. He came to the USA with a fellowship at a USA and stayed. My last companion and Great Friend was German. Was a Professor in many countries, authored many books and peer reviewed articles, lectured at various Conferences and top ranked Universities all over the world. He passed away recently but our relationship lasted for twelve years. Each asked me to marry them at one point. They all are extremely learned, spoke English fluently, from great Families but so am I. Maybe I should have accepted one of their proposals or allowed Love fully but there's something about enjoying life for yourself and having a certain level of Independence. I will say they still inspire me along with all those International Educational Exchange students who made a positive impact on my life and encouraged me to travel outside of the USA. I took Spanish in high school and Undergrad but it's not the same as visiting a non-English speaking country for yourself. My positive experience with the International Educational Exchange students and now boyfriends and International friends inspired me to see the world for myself. As a result, my entire family began traveling internationally❤

    What irritates me as someone that lived for the last 40+ years in Finland is that Xenophobia is seen as racism. Like look how we sit in busses, we do not like to share space with strangers. Someone then coming from the outside here demanding that I should respect their culture but calls mine racist. That makes me boil because since a child I was thought that you take the culture according to where you go, you never demand that the other culture should adjust to yours.
    I was born here and this is my home, the other one coming here always has the option not to come here because they have already left their home.
    I have many good experiences with foreigners but I also have many bad ones. Elderly people are usually wiser so they know not to demand me to change who I am. I have met nice foreigners that only came here for benefits and I do understand that someone chosing between loosing their eye sight or move to another country to keep it will probably chose the better option even if it means that they will leech on the system because their injury makes em unable to contribute. I do not like the freeloaders that comes here and thinks its their right to leech and bad jobs are below them.
    I still remember when a muslim sat on TV and demanded that we should build a "whatever that shouting tower is" in Finland because its their right. He just forgot that its every finns right not to be awaken by a religion in a country that ain't even religious. It was a fun experience when I went to Turkiye as a tourist to experience their culture, but having one close to me and I would tear it down. Same with allowing foreign cultures do things that not even I am allowed to do, creates only anger within people.
    That all said: It's not really the personal fault of one foreigner, in reality it's the fault of the leaders trying to appease foreigners instead of showing a firm hand "If you move here then you live like us and you do like us", you are free to be yourself as long as it doesn't collide with our rules and laws. Now they change laws to appease em and try to create a fake picture.
    We are Xenophobes that forces you to earn our trust and best way to do it is to work hard and be honest. Like I still respect the Russian from work because he was honest and worked hard.

    • @amadeuz8161
      @amadeuz8161 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you can't read it from my comment, this guy seems to understand and why should he suffer just because some thinks its ok to appease others at the cost of selling out who you are. I am a hyper social Xenophobe, I will talk with anyone as long as you don't come to close and think we are friends. Friendship needs to be earned.
      I did not vote for wannabe america Kokoomus nor did I vote for PS that even the party creator says neo nazis has taken over the party leadership(Yes he invited them but that was because he thought he could keep em in check). Lets say it was better when the neo nazis were allowed to protest in the streets, at least they didn't have the need to evolve to get into power. They were only lost protesters but easy to keep in check, with minor damage. Now they sit in our government so was it worth removing their right to protest?
      We need some leaders wit ha firm hand. Not some wannabe America sissy boy nor a "women power" feminist appeaser bs one. We need a firm hand like Kekkonen even if he wasn't perfect he kept reality in check. Like our leaders spend more time on digging up sht on each other than fixing the problems it caused when Kokomuus have privatised sectors plus let the rents free. People are getting more selfish, soon you are not allowed to have an opinion if its negative against someone and we are destroying everything the generation built before us just so that a few can make some quick money. We are destroying our country and appeasing other cultures. Like would a Muslim country ever let women start to walk with a bare stomage if they are pregnant? No they wouldn't so we do not have to appease them. Its so simple "Here we do like this you are welcome to stay but if it doesn't suit you then there's the door". This man in the video will suffer because we do not have a firm hand leading. Instead we have bickering kids with problems separating what is best for the people and what is best for themselves(Sanna Marin might have been good at her job but she should never have mixed with feminism nor behave like a teenage girl, she was better than little boy orpo that doesn't even understand how our system or laws work, but still I would rather have Kekkonen).

    • @Jonra1
      @Jonra1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The country needs to accommodate immigrants to a degree if it wants to survive, that's simply a cold hard fact. Finland might be best place on Earth for Finnish people, but since Finns don't want to have children at replacement level and the younger generations are too small to keep the system going in the long run, you need to make sacrifices.
      Finland has plenty of its own freeloaders and if significant portion of people who come to Finland are freeloaders, then maybe its to rethink about why people do not want to do their part in a society. Sure there are people who are simply lazy, but as a Finn who has largely been in relationships with people from outside of Finland, Finland isn't very welcoming or easy place to move to. I've had far easier time moving into countries that are generally considered more xenophobic or racist than Finland. That should tell enough.
      Finland fails to integrate properly, it gives you few language courses and then expects you to largely make it on your own. Meanwhile getting fulltime employment is challenging, even if you are Finnish but have a foreign last name. The main things that make Finland appealing to many people is the relative equality, safety and the welfare system. It's certainly not the people or much of anything else. Not to say the people are bad, but there are far more hospitable people elsewhere in many places.
      The people who expect the foreigners to adjust and settle into country the way they want, don't want to provide any real tools for that to occur in the first place. They point to people who came before and say that if people before could do it, so should the newer arrivals. That's simply not the same thing, the volume of people coming and the volume of people required to come in to keep the country a float simply makes it necessary for the country itself to adjust and change things up. The people who came before weren't the same and are generally quite unique when compared to other people from their home countries. If we wanted to rely on these kind of people alone as immigrants to Finland, there'd simply not be enough of them.
      The more people moan about appeasing the immigrants, the more likely Finland will have immigrants just forming their own communities within the country rather than integrating.

      @@Jonra1 What you fail to see is that we do not need more people. It is the current system that needs for the population to increase and the only reason it ain't increasing is because there is not enough security in the country. We have many ways to fix the problem but no one is willing because that would mean they have to sacrifice something.
      Just if you can't see it then look at our planet and we are 8b people. Gone from 4b to 8b during my lifetime so before I'm dead we will be 16b. It does not compute when the planet is only good for around 1b people with our current technology used.
      You sound like a person that really doesn't know the reality, you have an opinion and stick to it because you think it is the right thing to do. I have worked with 100's of immigrants and the reality is sad. Yes some of em make it but so many just abused by the system so you others can live your relaxing lives. I have nothing against em, would have been hard to work with em then. Still they do not need someone licking their a$$es because you aren't ready to do the hard labor and rather abuse a foreigner to do it for you.
      Just as an reality check for you. Every morning when I got to work I spent 5 mins talking to an elderly man from x country fleeing a war(not ukraine). It was our routine and he really loved practicing our language, then the boys I had to work with saw every finn that even looked at them as an racist so I even once almost threw a cabinet on one of them, the work was below them and it felt like our culture was sht for them. That elderly man never asked to be treated in any different way but those young ones demanded to be respected as kings. The appeasing reates attitude among them that teaches em that they can demand anything. Like a 20 year old lazy fck went on about it being racism that didn't give him a promotion. Had nothing to do with racism, it was me telling the bosses that they are lazy fcks only sitting on their phones.
      My point aint that we don't have those lazy fcks but appeasment does not teach em anything else than getting stuff without doing anything. A bit same issue with our young in today's Finland. The kids coming from school to learn about a job place just sits on their darn phones when someone should slap em once and put em to work to at least experience the job. I do vote for getting the stick back for the teachers at schools too because teachers are burning out faster than we can educate new ones now when they don't even have the right to grab a child and carry them out from the classroom even anymore.
      If you still don't get it that old man spoke fluent finnish just because he cared enough to learn, only problem was that hes over 60 so the chances for him to get a job is pretty small. Nobody felt sorry for him he was just one of us. Its like night and day working with the people not been cared for like little babies and the ones that has been. Why not just treat em like any person in our country? They came here so everyone can't like what we have to offer but those that do like it they will adapt.
      I'm also a Finswe so I do know whats its like to be seen as someone from the outside, but still babying me would have done nothing else than create more anger among the Fin speaking population.
      Then to the real problem in Finland with the need of workers is that the working conditions of the jobs are such that 90% of the people working here would never accept them. You wouldn't agree to work randomly 3 days a week. You wouldn't agree to work 3 weeks per month if the pay is below the limit set by our laws. You wouldn't move 200km for a job that promises only 3 months when the pay is below 2k per month. I assume you wouldn't even work below 3k per month looking at your lack of understanding how fckd up our job market is today. When I was young you went to a company, signed the papers "until death or old age do us part", today you sign "until the company has drained you to death and no one has any use for you again". Yes we do have honest employers still but the ones needing workforce are mostly the ones that ain't that honest or tries to save money by decreasing the workers security. So they are shouting for more and then we have those not knowing our laws working there for the time that is paid by the state and then they let em go. I got fed up on looking at how they abuse people and call it giving them a chance so I left. People using that service has no clue whatsoever what is really going on, they just smile and are happy that the service exists. Why do you think they rather used the Kosovo albans in construction back in the day? Yes because they removed asbest without extra costs or any way of pressuring the building, so you sit in you office sniffing that asbest dust(before you get too scared, back in the day it was openly mixed and I don't ever heard of any place cleaning every spot just because there was asbest used at some point in time). Why do you think so many finnish construction workers lost their jobs when we joined "open borders". Because a helping hand from Finland had a min cost of 23 euros of more per hour while a Estonian one only cost 15 euros. You know the funny part is that the Estonian worker was left with more in his hand per hour than the Finnish one.
      It is not the fault of the people coming here, its the system and appeasment aint improving the situation. Like yay you get em tricked here until they find out that as Finns they have rights and you got no slavelabor force to supply you with your personal comfort needs.
      They should be told the truth and take it or leave it. Honest and truthful. To fix the low births we only need to make the workmarket secure again by forcing companies to keep a darn "nestegg" like they used to do because no one wants to get kids if they ain't sure they will still have a job in 5 years. Why the foreigners have kids is because their situation improved but their kids will have higher standards and probably demand the same stability as we others do to get kids. Maybe they won't care that much for a generation or two but it will change. Look at any animal, they do not reproduce if the conditions are unsure/unsecure and even eat their young if they believe it will become worse why would humans be different? So maybe babies should be more important than getting a 5% payout for the shareholders every damn year.
      So you argue for "we need more people to move here" when its only a kids band-Aid on a ruptured artery.

      We need to return the balance between socialism and capitalism to a level that was working. When we do that then families will start to have 5 kids again. Then remove the dogs and cats from the women so they don't have "wannabe children" to suplement their need to nurture a child and viola men will start to complain again about being forced into fatherhood because the woman want to keep it. Like add a tax of like 200 per month for a dog, less dog poo to step in also so everyone wins. I would say that the majority of the people are not even much xenophobes as per strict definition, they are just wary of strangers until they figure them out. Then there are introverts, who simply do not see any upside in interacting with strangers unless they absolutely have to, applying this to both native and foreign strangers. Lastly, there is the cultural thing where there is nothing wrong to sit in silence, while e.g. riding a bus or waiting for entry to doctors' appointment. Someone, who comes from a different culture may very easily interpret all three as hostility and racism.

I was satisfied, no complaints, for the five years it went unnoticed. Then all hell broke loose and I was vilified beyond comprehension. To date, not a single Finn has been able to say something like "That was nice of you, Tom, to go to the trouble" or "I am so sorry people have vilified you publicly for doing a good turn." Nope. Immigrants, no problem there, refugees, some problems there and welfare benefit seeker gold diggers, a lot of problems there. One of the problems is: only after a long and serious conversation with most of the people is one upgraded from any category to the next and even then if you are upgraded to immigrant, there still exists the loop between immigrant and welfare benefit seeker that goes on and on. Refugees are in some minds the second best category because for some yet to materialize factor most of those people are supposed to go back to their lands after the conflict, but it rarely happens.

So when immigrants come, they are supposed to benefit the society, not take those limited resources away from the citizens.
      This is not saying all immigrants are taking the resources away, I'm just saying you can't make that comparison. Every single immigrant taking social support is using the money meant for the citizens. So of course that is something that government needs to consider. Honestly new party in power is pretty annoying. It's really part of the classic infuriating trend of people moving to right/conservative side when there are economic/social unrest.
    It's basically response to retreat to where you are most comfortable and cling into what you have and know. Since that's "safe", and people want feeling of safety, or something external to blame so you can feel more comfortable.
    Honestly this is so predictable if you look at the history, which makes it so much more annoying. It's not that I don't have issues with some aspects of migration, but I just think it's overall good, thing, and we need to do it better, like everything. Migrants especially in Finland are just such an small party of population and economy that focusing on that as some solution to any problem is kinda ridiculous, mostly talking about reducing immigration. Reduction is just not going to solve anything. But it's classic popular political point for reason, it works on people. Again annoyingly.
    This is why I think we need actual political and economical education included in basic education, so that we can navigate and understand these systems we live in better, and not get caught up in rhetoric and charged environment like now with all the crisis going on. Sometimes I just feel like education is bit too focused on turning us into good workers, not effective members of society financially and politically. Obviously, being good worker is huge part of that, but being able to understand basic systems that govern your life, finance and politics, is super important as well.

    You have a great flow and attitude, i think you could make it anywhere, definitely in Finland. Spot on with your observations. I live in France and i must say Finland should be careful how to play the immigrant card. I see here some individuals integrate well some not, nothing to do with race, but certainly religion and culture. Example from this week, kids started school this week and first huge controversy, muslims traditional abaya costume was banned at schools(as the law goes, no religious signs at school), muslims got upset and nobody is happy, i think school uniforms are making their way, which i think is an cultural change not welcome as this country is known for fashion and clothing and it is part of the national identity(people tend to be well dressed starting young age). Immigration is also financial question, what i see here in France is society, where the "social" cost is getting huge and the rest of the "system" is under stress, like justice system (for small crimes like burglary or assault, it's not unusual that police has not time to investigate and there is no pursuites ), school system is inequal, police is quite bad(huge turnover in big cities, around 10%/year, hard to find new recruit, bad salary and working conditions), healthcare system is also under pressure, inequal, depends a lot where you live. Keep up the good content.

To date, no one has gone to Herattaja Yhdistys and said "Why have you treated this man so despicably?"
      I lectured in Finnish at the University of Turku for several years, which required a paper signed by Prof Kangasmaa-Minn at the time, stating that my Finnish was good enough to lecture there. The problem is not with my translating ability, but with Finns who have no manners and no shame. Even if I had done a horrible job, the response should have been, "Tom, that was nice of you to make that effort."
      The only thing that can be said against me is that I have complained of the way I have been treated. But that seems to be an even greater sin. Until this is made right, I shall do everything in my power to expose Finns for the xenophobic and disgraceful people they are. Finns have had ten years to put this right, it has been in several newspapers, and other magazines, and still there is neither acknowledgment nor apology.

    For me every single one like you are more than welcome to Finland! Government should realize that we need immigrants to come work here both lower level jobs and in jobs that require high level of expertice. What comes to those that are only interested in social security and have zero motivation to go forward, they just don't work here. Economy is bad enough already. Something has to be done to integration system to make sure that for example assylum seekers have possibility to provide for themselves. Of course it doesn't take away the problem that some people may still just lay back and just enjoy the benefits. Tricky questions, hard political discussions. Either way there is no room for racisim whatsoever. Keep on the good work and great video! 😎

      No one is coming to Finland to work as an engineer for a salary of 4500€ to pay 2000€ in taxes and live in one of the most expensive countries by cost of living in Europe. The immigration we get is mostly arabs, somalis etc coming from complete hellholes to abuse Europes naive wellfare system, no matter which country because they only want the money and don't even plan to try to integrate.
      They have completely different mentality and culture. They see European kindness as being weak. That's why they force kids to lick their shoes, are violent, get in crime and drugs to prove their manliness. Even in Finland Mc's are already completely out of the drug business because of immigeants who are driving 60k€ cars bought with drug money. For once could we not follow Swedens policies to avoid complete destruction.
