Excellent video, makes a change to see the freight trains on railways, at locations, with locos and stock to numerous to mention. Wow, the sight and sounds like these, now a forgotten memory till now that is. Many, many thanks to all those who work so hard to put on a show like this, and to you Sir for recording it. Thank you.
Thanks very much. As ever we owe a huge debt of gratitude to those who work so hard to restore these vehicles to allow us to remember how things used to be
A wonderful selection Austin. Sights and sounds bringing back memories of what the railways were really about - the things we saw every day without giving them a second thought. Thank you for that. Noel
Thanks Noel. We are fortunate that so many of our preserved lines take the trouble to restore and run the freight vehicles especially as the railway gets no revenue from their operation, it's like 'playing trains'!
Thanks John, it wasn't any trouble really, it was a wet Tuesday afternoon and the idea for a freight compilation came into my mind to while away a few hours. I'm surprised how many people have liked it
Thanks Austin. I thought when I saw this volcano erupting from the ground at the start "This has got to be Foxton" and sure enough . . . Very good opening and great compilation.
Outstanding compilation Austin!. Your camera work is just brilliant. Love the shot through the window from the signal box!. Great angles!. Regards, Nick
A stunning video Austin. I have never seen so many great trains and viewpoints in one video ! From the superb opening clip it just got better and better. Thank you......Geoff.
Excellent compilation Austin. As you say, we are lucky that many of the Heritage Lines are running freight trains despite the lack of revenue from them. Cheers, Dave.
Great way to spend 15 minutes Austin so thanks for sharing. Apart from the obvious highlights of the S15 and U I really enjoyed the opening shot. I think it's partly the anticipation before she comes into view and then she looks and sounds right on her limit. Spine tingling. Chris
More stunning footage from your collection Austin, and with so little Main Line Steam to watch at the moment, a real treat to keeps the cravings satisfied....Regards...Bob
Thanks Bob, a wet Tuesday afternoon forced me to look into some of the old videos and then the idea for a freight compilation as I've quite a few such clips. A bad year for mainline steam especially with the S & C closed but it does offer the opportunity for other things
Surprising and amazing Steve and most of it sitting on discs gathering dust. As you know it's good to dig them out now and again to see them in a new light. Thanks, as ever, for your comments
Oh I really enjoyed this Austin ..a lovely compilation ..and the opening shot sets the scene for the quality that follows ..thanks for sharing this Tom
Austin Your video, as usual is awesome in subject matter and video quality. I love video taping freight trains here in the USA. Our freight trains are often colorful in the expressive artistic graffiti (illegal) that is displayed on reefers, box cars, flats, gondolas, etc. Slow moving freight trains (often 100 cars or more) are awesome for videotaping. Best to you and your family in your home move.
Thanks for your kind comments Neal. I'd love to film some American freights one day, it amuses me to think I could probably fill a memory card with just one train because of their length! We're not moving home by the way, just on holiday in the beautiful Harz Mountains in Germany with steam trains galore!
Video splendid. All images are really beautiful. I have a small prefrence for those shot at the beginning of the film and the signal box. A big thank you Austin. Philippe
Brilliant footage, but I miss the diesel goods trains of my ‘spotting days’. I’m old and daft enough to remember the goods trains of the sixties, especially the ‘wind cutters’ on the central through ‘Whetstone’
Just a great compilation thank you so much had some fun trying to guess the locations would never have guessed 44806 at Beck Hole, 78019 at Kinchley Lane or 31806 at Oakamoor, Churnet Valley and 4160 caught me out on the West Somerset (would you believe!!) Thanks again!
And they trains just the perfect speed to see them in all their glory not to slow to where it's just boring and not too fast to where you can't see nothing
It was probably Welsh coal for a lot of the shots in the video but as most of our pits are now closed the preserved lines are using imported Russian coal which apparently burns well without too much smoke

Superb video, great variety of sights and sounds! Many thanks for splicing them all together and posting for us to enjoy!
Many thanks Henry, glad you enjoyed the video
Thanks for doing this, definitely one of your best this year.
Thanks very much for watching

Thanks Noel. We are fortunate that so many of our preserved lines take the trouble to restore and run the freight vehicles especially as the railway gets no revenue from their operation, it's like 'playing trains'!
Although I love all steam I find goods trains the most nostalgic. Thanks for some great memory joggers. Regards Alan
Thanks Alan, those of us of 'a certain age' will always remember the clank of goods wagons.
Glad to see that despite the modern age steam engines are still at work
And long may they continue for the benefit of future generations
A refreshing change to see a great compilation of freight videos. thanks for sharing. I thoroughly enjoyed watching.
Many thanks Geoff for your kind comments. I'm glad I decided to put this compilation together as so many people seem to have enjoyed it
GREAT FREIGHT! These captures were total joy to watch. Many thanks for all the trouble you took to achieve your great result.
Thanks John, it wasn't any trouble really, it was a wet Tuesday afternoon and the idea for a freight compilation came into my mind to while away a few hours. I'm surprised how many people have liked it

Thanks Alan, the video resulted from a wet Tuesday afternoon, off to the Harz next week for pure dampf!

I'm jealous! We are in the throes of moving house so cannot go anywhere!!
Outstanding compilation Austin!. Your camera work is just brilliant. Love the shot through the window from the signal box!. Great angles!. Regards, Nick
Thanks Nick, that shot from Bewdley box was on a charter, great privilege to film from there
A stunning video Austin. I have never seen so many great trains and viewpoints in one video ! From the superb opening clip it just got better and better. Thank you......Geoff.
Many thanks Geoff, a wet Tuesday afternoon seemed the ideal time to have a rummage through the older videos!
Excellent compilation Austin. As you say, we are lucky that many of the Heritage Lines are running freight trains despite the lack of revenue from them. Cheers, Dave.
Thanks very much Dave, it's always good to see the freights running and long may they continue
Excellent compilation, testament to the amazing efforts of those who make it possible for these scenes to still happen!
Thank you. Yes, completely agree with you, steam has faced so many challenges over the years but the movement always comes up with solutions
Great way to spend 15 minutes Austin so thanks for sharing. Apart from the obvious highlights of the S15 and U I really enjoyed the opening shot. I think it's partly the anticipation before she comes into view and then she looks and sounds right on her limit. Spine tingling. Chris
Many thanks Chris, I do love seeing freights on the preserved lines, great to see and purely 'playing trains' as far as the railway is concerned
Very well done. Greetings from California.
Thanks very much. You will no doubt enjoy warmer weather in California than I had when filming these clips!
Isn’t it great that lots of steam locomotives in the world can be preserved and overhauled and cleaned?
Sure is, good that people care about them so much
Superb footage, Austin and thoroughly enjoyable watching. Thank you. Kindest regards Frank.
Thanks Frank, much appreciated

Cracking footage Austin, it's surprising how much footage we get over the years . Loved the signal box from inside shot !
Surprising and amazing Steve and most of it sitting on discs gathering dust. As you know it's good to dig them out now and again to see them in a new light. Thanks, as ever, for your comments
Brilliant video Austin.... a really wonderful watch....Loved seeing all the Freights....Best wishes...Steve.-:)
Cheers Steve, didn't realise I had quite so many freight clips, and this was just a small selection!
Bring them on....i foretell another cracking Freight video or 3 in the making...Lol..
Oh I really enjoyed this Austin ..a lovely compilation ..and the opening shot sets the scene for the quality that follows ..thanks for sharing this
Tom
Many thanks Tom, I do enjoy doing these compilations as it allows me to see the clips in a new light
This is lovely, thank you for sharing - Rach :)

That little tank engine look so cute

Brilliant compilation Austin Lovely set of freight footage C&A
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the selection
Video splendid. All images are really beautiful. I have a small prefrence for those shot at the beginning of the film and the signal box. A big thank you Austin. Philippe
Un grand merci Philippe, il a été agréable de faire cette compilation
Excellent you put much work into an enjoyable program.
Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated
Brilliant footage, but I miss the diesel goods trains of my ‘spotting days’. I’m old and daft enough to remember the goods trains of the sixties, especially the ‘wind cutters’ on the central through ‘Whetstone’
Thank you. Something special about freights I agree. I'd have loved to have seen the 'windcutters' in their heyday,
Just a great compilation thank you so much had some fun trying to guess the locations would never have guessed 44806 at Beck Hole, 78019 at Kinchley Lane or 31806 at Oakamoor, Churnet Valley and 4160 caught me out on the West Somerset (would you believe!!) Thanks again!

Very nice compliation! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Now We could see the troublesome trucks
Austin, thanks for sharing
Many thanks John
I am envious of the many heritage railways run in UK. (German steam loco fan)
We are very lucky in Britain with so many preserved railways. Sometimes I think we don't appreciate them as much as we should
Superb ! I like these long trains of coal (empty ?) wagons. It seems the film has been made in the 50s ! Congratulations.
Jean-Paul (France)
Thank you, yes the wagon were empty
Oh and the 4Fs going up to Enderby Quarry, got hoofed out of my class at school many times as I couldn’t quite see the train.
And they trains just the perfect speed to see them in all their glory not to slow to where it's just boring and not too fast to where you can't see nothing
Marvelous machine’s
Indeed, we're so lucky to still be able to film them
Quality video.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
I wish that they could extended heritage lines to be longer and have extra loops
Not possible in many cases and many railways have enough on their hands with what they.ve already got to look after
@@acw71000 Well, it'd bring more interest in mind
Nice
Thanks
Someday I’m gonna move to Britain and work on a heritage railway
You'd be made very welcome, volunteers are always wanted. Hope you make it
such beautiful views here in us railroads love steam.
Nice video
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
More proof that steam is the better form of power
Certainly more fun to hear and smell! Thanks for watching
まさにリアルトーマスだね
まさに、見てくれてありがとう
Why do I keep seeing the brake van in the middle and the front of the freight train?
Because they are not 'proper' freights. They are run primarily for photographers and often the photographers travel in one or more of the brake vans
Are any of these actually pulling goods commercialy?
No, they run just for photographers and to show how things used to be
So they still make cargo delivers on preserved lines or not?
No, they are just run to provide a bit of interest and for photographers
@@acw71000 Well, I wish that they'd be in general use again
Why do they often have 2 vans at each end?
Sometimes on a photo charter the participants travel in the brake vans
Aren't UK mostly rely on passengers instead of goods?
Goods trains on preserved lines as featured here are run just to show 'how it was'
i dont know what the hell kind of coal the UK is running, but the smoke from their locomotives look 10000 times cleaner than the U.S locomotives smoke
It was probably Welsh coal for a lot of the shots in the video but as most of our pits are now closed the preserved lines are using imported Russian coal which apparently burns well without too much smoke
I've always preferred Freight Trains to Passenger Trains, more consist variety hahaha.
Cheers, quite agree
