I’d just like to say thank you for wonderful collection of videos of some of our greatest locos in our most beautiful countryside. My favourite? The king (?) crossing the viaduct with the river boat passing underneath. Simply stunning. Thanks so much for this. Thoroughly enjoyed in its entirety.
It's that time of year Austin, when we are all treated to the Best of the Best of Main Line Steam....a real treat Austin, and a big thanks for all the work you put into these wonderful productions......Best wishes...Bob
Thanks Steve. I think that shot of the Scot is my favourite of the last seven years. I'll never forget hearing her in the distance making a terrific sound.
from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍 I grew up in London and traveled between Kings Cross and Doncaster by steam loco back in the day then on to Scunthorpe to visit family. Great memories . I have a small hornby collection of locos Flying Scotsman being the best all unused on display . I way inbolved in the discharge of the Scotsman when she was carried by ship to Sydney some decades ago now .we had to use a floating crane to discharge her on to the wharf . 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
@@gwo7610 yes in many ways I left in 1977 and only been back once 1980.im enjoying these vids of the locos. I have taken photos of steam locos in Sydney and in the Blue mountains near Sydney where I live . Always get the heart pumping.🚂🚂🚂🚂👍👍👍
Thanks Jim and all the very best to yourself and family. I definitely agree about the first shot of the Earl, I think it's the best 'at speed' shot I've ever taken
Love it brilliant vid Austin I was even on some of the tours including 70013's to North Wales, gd old lizzie to York, 45407 going up shap and more. Top draw.
Great video, Austin. I do like these steam at speed compilations & I enjoyed yours. Would be nice to get some variety next year like what's featured in your video, as this year has become tiring. Liked your annual Xmas card video too ! Regards, Liam
Many thanks Liam, it would be nice to see bit more variety in 2016 but the trouble is we look at it from the linesiders point of view. At the end of the day, we don't matter and I think we are lucky to have what we do after such a difficult year for steam
Not tries, but does maintain those sorts of speeds. They are designed for those speeds (and faster) so nothing is expected to go wrong and rarely does with correct maintenance. Agree, if there should be a rare breakdown related to speed an over heated axle bearing due to a lubrication failure is the most likely.
Various reasons, diesels help with shunting at certain locations and in times of fire risk can be attached to give some power to the steam loco. They can also provide heat to the train if there is no steam heating
Well, they are actually there to supply the coaches with electricity, they don't actually help push the loco, the Steam engine is basically pulling the whole thing.

Thanks very much for your kind comments. The loco crossing the River Weaver was 'Nunney Castle'
acw71000 oh was it! Thanks for that. Yes a brilliant shot for sure. Special.

Thanks Bob, I always enjoy putting these compilations together and seeing the clips in a different light
Excellent compilation of the last seven years of Main Line steam. Great locations, superbly filmed. Cheers, Dave.
Thanks very much Dave, these represent what I call my 'HD Years'!
Absolutely stunning....Wonderful trains , and beautiful scenery.....Just how I remember it ..Thank you ..xx

Merci Philippe, heureux que vous ayez apprécié la compilation
Superb work of steam locos hard at work - lovely! Thanks. Ken
Thanks very much Ken
Some fantastic footage...and nice to see some double heading! I always enjoy these vids.
Thanks, it is always good to see double headers on the mainline
Superb compilation Austin of all the work and effort you have put in over the years for all to enjoy. C&A
Thanks very much, sometimes I don't know where those years have gone, bit frightening really!
Great collection of films, Austin. Stirring sights which is why we travel many miles to see steam on the main lines. Keith
Thanks Keith, our hobby does take us to some wonderful places in search of steam

I'm only in goxhill so not too far from Scunthorpe at all. I bet things have really changed from what you remember them to be.

Thanks for watching, must have been quite an experience seeing Scotsman arriving. Not one of my favourite locos but I'm glad we've got her back!

I might be biased but to me the 1st Earl shot got it by a whisker, loved the rest well done and you have earned a Very Happy Christmas from OZ
Thanks Jim and all the very best to yourself and family. I definitely agree about the first shot of the Earl, I think it's the best 'at speed' shot I've ever taken
I hope you enjoyed making this as much as I am in watching it!!
Very much so! It's fun dusting off these old clips and presenting them in a new way. Many thanks for watching

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated
Excellent quality video, very well done. Wish I was young enough to be back on the footplate!
Cheers Rob, I bet there was nothing to beat being on the footplate. Lots of good memories I expect though
@@acw71000 There were good and bad times, weather, drivers, locomotives, coal but I do remember the good times most of all.
Absolutely amazing, Austin. All that steam and I saw none of it! Well, I have now :) Very well done, indeed.
Thanks Alan, I'd been planning this compilation for a while but being forced indoors by the wet and windy weather meant I could put it all together
A superb compilation. Thank you.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
Superb, as usual. You're my favourite camera-man. By far the best, power to your zoom!
Thanks for your continued support and kind comments
A superb compilation Austin, with some cracking shots. Keep it up!
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
Noel
Thanks Noel and all the very best to you and yours for Christmas and New Year
Great Footage !!
So much love for steam trains from young to old.
Indeed, never tire of them
And then there's people that want steam gone.... Btw great footage, these machines wew built for speed, and these clips show it
Thanks for watching, any train at speed is an impressive sight but more so with steam as you know that someone is working hard to produce the steam!
this was incredible
Thanks, glad you liked it
A brilliant compilation of Steam at Speed Austin...some just superb clips here...too many to mention..a big well done from Me...Cheers...Steve.:)
Thanks Steve, I think we all love to see a steam loco working hard, it was a fun compilation to make
A very enjoyable watch !
There are hardly any steam engines on the mainline today where I come from
Not many anywhere in the world. They only run on specials here in the UK
Just found this very good quality filming well done.
Thanks for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video

I've just invented the exponential like button, unfortunately, I don't know how to implement it!
I just hope that someone knows how to implement the exponential nuclear button if it's ever needed!
Great video!
Thanks
Excellent
Thank you
Great collection of videos, when was the
Princess Coronation passing through Warrington recorded? I think I was on it!
29th. March 2009 that one
Faina locomotiva...
Thanks for watching
0:20 Nice smoke ring
Yes, always nice when a smoke ring is captured
What's your favourite steam engine? Mine is 45699 Galatea
What's the most likely thing to go wrong when a steam loco tries to maintain those sort of speeds for a prolonged period?
I would suspect a hot axle box would be one of the most common things to go wrong
I remember my old man saying to me that steam locos were expected to do 80mph all day every day. So they must be built to do it.
6:27, my god that person looks like he's on the tracks.. so people have no consideration for trespassing..
lovely footage though...
It does look as though he is over the fence but possibly just very close to it. Thanks for watching

Nice video. Show the speed of the train please .
Thank you. The individual speeds are unknown but the maximum speed that steam trains are allowed to travel is 75mph.
Great video...liked and sub`d.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Why diesel on some and not others?
Various reasons, diesels help with shunting at certain locations and in times of fire risk can be attached to give some power to the steam loco. They can also provide heat to the train if there is no steam heating
cool
Thanks DJ Den, glad you liked it
sad to see many trains with diesels bringing up the rear
It does spoil the look I agree but often they are necessary
Well, they are actually there to supply the coaches with electricity, they don't actually help push the loco, the Steam engine is basically pulling the whole thing.
Russian Vodka I see
5:45: Flying Scotsman?!?!?!
No, the loco featured is 'Tornado'
