Today I went to Arding & Hobbs, a department store in CLJ (it is now run by Debenhams after they bought it from Allders, because A&H was once owned by Allders). There is a section by the Café where there are no ceiling tiles, but the rest of the shop has ceiling tiles & it makes the ceilings very low. It would be nice if they removed the tiles. The lift there is a Schindler MRL that is incredibly efficient. The shop has only 1 lift, & they don't need any more because of how efficient it is.

How fast is it? If it is above 8 m/s it probably has a wind shield. Even though I have balanced on top lifts with decorative shields and rain shields, a wind shield is far more dodgy. And I wouldn't want to go fast speeds without access to the inspection control.
@@benolifts Not sure. But I think it's very very fast. For fast access, the towers to take can be either Tower 1 high-rise, Tower 1 paiza or Tower 2 high-rise.

serious high speed FPM MRL traction machine. I know of two Otis Gen 2 MRL (cabled 2:1 roping) in a parking structure there is a 2nd set of hoist ropes on the opposite side of the cab from the machine and counterweight, moves up and down with the car. I'm thinking the hoist ropes for the counterweight loop over a pair a sheaves top of the shaft anchored to the opposite side. Where normally the cables would be anchored to the top of the shaft. I've seen 2:1 roping with other traction machines which had a compensating sheave top of the cab and on the counterweight.
