    I'm not a math whiz, but I've been using the formula to calculate the diameter of a circle all my life for sewing projects and I'm now 75. I think it was in 8th grade math that I learned how to calculate the circumference of a circle. Remember 2 pi r ? (2 x 3.14 x the radius) equals the circumference. That also reads as (3.14 x 2 x the radius), 2 x the radius is the diameter, you can change the formula to read (3.14 x D) equals the circumference. If you divide the length of your piece (which will be the circumference when it's sewn together) by pi, you get the diameter. Most every calculator has a pi button so it's simple to measure the length of the piece stopping and starting at the seam line, put that number in your calculator, hit the divide button and then the pi button, and then the = sign, you'll get the width (diameter) of your circle for the top and bottom. edit to add: if you open the calculator on your phone, you have to turn it sideways to get the version that has the pi button.

    I love everything you made and are working on. Such a pleasure to visit with you. I love Marmalade and I'm so tempted but...I made a hand puppet once called Miss Kitty. She was a beautiful white cat. but I took a wrong stitch somewhere on her face and instead of a smile she had quite a snarl. We loved her though. In spite of such a bad attitude. LOL

    Love Strawberry season! Kathy i noticed right away your hair! Did you get a perm? A retreat, lucky you 💞 Your bunny book is charming. One of my favorite teachers was Mrs. Clark , grade 5 . Her daughters name was Susan , Ontario Canada Its very cool to learn how needles are made.
    Nancy i started wondering if you kept a journal but you answered that question lol Your 20year old Autumn Hill quilt is gorgeous cant wait to see the final picture. Kathy your always so gracious in commenting on Nancy's work. Its now past Mothers day when im seeing this but hope you both had nice relaxing ones. 💗

  • @iriscope6798
    @iriscope6798 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nancy, I have a question regarding quarter stitches on Aida. You said on a previous video that when they are on the edges you fudge them. What do you do when they are in the middle of the design. Like a quarter stitch of one color and a quarter stitch of another color in the same block. Love all your strawberry projects.

    • @SharonCarbine
      @SharonCarbine ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally, I eyeball the stitch - piercing the fabric to complete the quarter stitch, Iris.

I know you dyed it but I'm gonna start my chart and want to get a fabric close to your color....it looks great on that I bought the called for and don't like how dark it is...did you use Rit Dye and what color.....you guys do beautiful work and I love seeing everything you guys do....tysm for sharing

    • @sewnsews6389
      @sewnsews6389  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Barbara, I know I for sure used evening blue. I think I also added in taupe and if I did it was three parts evening blue and one part taupe. I only leave the fabric in the dye a couple of minutes then rinse it. If I want it darker then I will put it back into the dye and repeat the process. It does lighten up a little when it dries ~Nancy
