- Hi Everyone!
Amelia and I packed up the Four Wheel Camper on our Short Bed Ram 1500 after an early Spring snow storm and headed into the Colorado mountains! Join us as we test out our newly renovated truck camper in 18 degree weather!

Whew! I am glad I am not the only one that enjoys the Snowshine after a few beers!
Isn’t that the truth!
I use reflectex on my Four Wheel Camper too. I put a strip of velcro on the bottom to seal it better. It also helps keep most of the condensation off the vinyl, but I do bring a dedicated towel for drying the last day of the trip. I always have some airflow at night with the fan lid cracked and a lower window partly open.
Snow-shine is my favorite kind of weather too, Amelia!!
Now this is funny
What an amazing adventure…nature is so energizing and beautiful!! Thank buoy for sharing.
Yes it is! Can't wait to spend more time in the camper!
I have had both: a pop-up and a simple topper. The topper is the one I prefer because the pop-up doesn't give you much more than you have in a simple topper and the topper costs FAR less. It's so easy to make your own bed and throw in a few drawers that can be held togther so that they look like a dresser, plus, you can put them all across one side of the truck and have your bed on the other side. Simple and effective and you don't lack anything. Just put in your necessities... propane or butane camper stove, ice chest, camping lanterns, etc. With all the drawers and underneath the bed area, you can carry a huge amount of necessities and keep it all out of the way.
We used a topper for a few weeks and loved the idea of the setup! Only problem at the time is the truck bed was 5’7 and I’m 6’2 so the sleeping was uncomfortable with two people. Would do it again though for shorter trips!
Looks great! We have same set up but with an older 1993 Palomino. Nice yall took your puppy!
Happy camping!
Watching most of your videos. They are great.
Thank you for watching!
Oh dudes and dudettes....get yourself a fully vented propane heater. It's like night and day for cold camping comfortably. A buddy heater really doesn't cut it.
Great video! This type of trip is exactly why I want to get a used Fleet or Eagle for my F-150 short bed. Had one lined up but the seller got very sketchy and the deal went south. Still looking for one. You two have done a great job updating your rig and making it your own and you seem to have fun doing it together. Please keep up the trips, short and long and I will continue to enjoy them!
Thanks for the kind words, Steve! We’re starting to get the trips planned for the summer so stay around for more videos! Good luck on the search for your camper
Amelia and Connor, Frank and I have a little teardrop camper with a galley kitchen and we just love it. We take it with us up to NC in summer and use it to explore all the small little mountain towns and fun natural sites around Cashiers, NC. We have not been as brave as you two and Barkley in seeking out the cold but you both do it so gracefully. Loved Connor’s sentimental blanket and Amelia brushing her teeth!!! There really is nothing man made that can rival the beauty of nature accompanied by soulful music. Thank you for sharing. I had no idea from your Mom, Amelia, what your video would be about. I LOVE IT. Judi Migliori Ward.
Hi Judi, Thanks for the kind words and we're glad you enjoyed the video! We're excited for some spring and summer weather!
That’s a great idea putting on a small trailer to keep in the garage👍
Thanks! It was a great solution!
Reflectix for the windows seems like a legit solution. Thanks.
Sure thing! Cheap and easy solution
How much fun!! Looks like a lot of fun!! Enjoyed your video!’
Thanks Amy!
Oooh, I wish I could pack like that with a snap of my fingers! LOL We so wanted to do some snow camping this year but didn't get our Hobbit Hut done in time so loved going snow camping with you guys! Your pup is a little darling!! Beautiful quilt and memories make it so much nicer. Nice share! 💙Terry and Terri
Thank you Terry and Terri! Glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate the kind comment!
@@LivingLargeCamping You are very welcome!! ;-)
Nice little camper I'd like to get something like that one day
We loved it for 2+ years!
That's down side of buring a Propane Heater that's not vented, the by product is H20!
When you park in the garage, close it up and run a full size Dehumidifier in it for a day or two! Open all cabinets and remove any item that can hold moisture!
You should check into a
Dickinson Marine Newport propane heater. With a built-in blower it provides good heat circulation. Low fuel consumption and easy to use plus it draws outside air so the heat inside is a dry heat!!!
I'll give the heater a look, thanks for the suggestion! We don't like using the buddy heater, but since our space is so small it seemed to be the easiest option. Thankfully it hasn't been cold enough to need it the past weeks!
I use to take off to the mountains from Colorado Springs when I knew they was a SNOW STORM coming. I'd head to Cripple Creek. Rent a cabin and enjoy the storm when it got there.
That is what we hoped for! Ended up having to leave on a Friday due to work schedules. We'll give Cripple Creek a look, thanks for the suggestion!
@@LivingLargeCamping Cripple Creek is an old mining town. Lost of History.
Just a thought. I bought a diesel heater for my small camper. Cuz propane caused to much condensation. It's nice dry warm heat that my 615 watt solar generator can run for 42 hrs on 1 charge. Never wake up or feel cold in your camper ever again. I camp alot in the winter now cuz it's like being as comfortable as I am at home.
Great idea, the diesel heaters seem to have changed the game for pop up campers!
Really love these videos and all the helpful hints.
Thank you! We’re glad you enjoy the videos!
Great video sir
Thanks John!
Great video! Warmer temps ahead…..
Spring camping will be great!
Awesome vid you guys! Looked like a super fun quick trip!
Thanks man! Glad you got to see the camper while you were here
..cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Thank you!
@@LivingLargeCamping Thank you very mutch... have a nice Weekend.... see you….
I HATE HOA'S BUT I LOVE CAMPING. GOOD VIDEO..
Thank you!
Ahhhh I love this!!! 🧡🧡
Thank you!!
That looked like a perfect evening! And, the squishing of that marshmallow, that was some serious Food Porn! I seriously had to wipe my chin! Thanks for taking us along.
It was a perfect evening! And it tasted just as good as it looked!
Well done video! Be dang careful with that little heater, they are not the best and carbon monoxide is cumulative as it attaches to your RBC.
Thank you! And we have moved away from the buddy heater thankfully
New fan.
Thanks Sarah! Glad you enjoyed our video
@@LivingLargeCamping Enjoy your next adventure.
looks like a fun little trip! have you ever tried those passive dehumidifiers? they work pretty well if it’s not too cold
We have tried a couple simple options, but still looking for a better solution! Thankfully the condensation only builds during the winter and we don’t have problems with it during the majority of our camping. Glad you enjoyed!
Awesome video! New subscriber.
Thanks for the subscription! Glad you enjoyed
Do you know what they call a group of Karens? A homeowner's association
Always love an HOA
Great
Thank you!
What cameras do you use for your videos? The shots are so crisp!
Thanks! We actually shoot on an iPhone 12 Pro, hoping to upgrade to a 4k camera if the channel grows!
I think I seen your rig in Va
We did drive through VA last year but it was with our new setup
Oh wow, so sub-freezing that you are wearing a T-shirt. LOL
It got into the teens at night! But the day we arrived was partly sunny
I wish I could do something like that
Go for it! Definitely worth the experience and stories that come with it
I see you have gluten free buns. They are terrible. My wife is gluten intolerant. She cannot eat any wheat products but, when we went to Europe she was fine. Come to find out that lots of people have an allergy to North American flour. We tried some Italian flour and she is fine. You can find it in specialty import stores. About double the price of regular flour but way better than gluten free flour and much cheaper. Best pizza we have ever had
HOW DID YOU TIE DOWN YOUR CAMPER IN THE TRUCK?
We used turnbuckles on the front tie downs and 1,000lb straps on the rear
Why was is 27 in the morning in the camper… don’t you have a heater you could run? Even on the lowest setting at 55 it would make the camper much more pleasant.
We only have a Mr. Buddy heater that we won’t run all night. A factory installed heater would have helped a ton
@@LivingLargeCamping buddy heater won’t hurt to run on low all night..
Is your truck a ram 1500?
Yes, we had a 1500 with the four wheel camper
Another awesome video man! Love that pop up camper! Looks super light! Me and my pup just got into truck camping also! You'll have to check out my build on my channel. Keep up with the awesome content!
Thanks Taylor! The FWC has been awesome, all gear included it weighs under 1000lbs. And I’ll give it a watch!
#28? I think I was at #27 the week before
Not sure I remember the site number, but we love that area!
The HOA doesn’t allow campers on trucks??? I’d find me a new place to live.
That's why we aren't renewing our lease here! The trailer has made it possible but still annoying to load and unload for every trip
Yea, we just wanted out of Ca so we settled on a rental that is an HOA here in Utah, but never again. Theyve not been as bad as I've heard they can be because I could put my Amateur radio wire antenna. Lease is up in July, cant wait. How do you like your pop up?
HOAs-- don't ever make that mistake again.
Nice set up,but preparing dinner on the floor with a dog walking around 😩😫
Usually we prepare on the counter, that was a rare occurrence!
@@LivingLargeCamping got it. Thanks
Get out of those HOA's
