People don’t realise how hard these old school karate guys are, they’re rock hard. These men came up when you actually had to be strong as f-k to even make it beyond yellow belt not like today how they hand out black belts like candy after 18 months - 2years. That’s what’s given the traditional martial arts a bad name these days.!
Karate is not always about punches, kicks, elbow strikes, chopping, or grappling. It's also about how well build your body is, specially if you have a strong fist to crush things. And it's not an easy task. It takes hard and wise work of training.

I had been living in Japan at the time and I met Higaona sensei too, who tried to open a dojo in Tokyo but closed after a short while because it was not profitable.
I can feel this man's enthusiasm. While throwing punches in the horse stance and he gets excited and has to motivate his class. Or the scene where he grabs under the man's armpit; he smiles with a loving viciousness. As if to say, "I must do this. I love you as my fellow human, but I must show you how strong I am."
