4:25 - Random curiosity that came to my mind when mentioned that "you can't get electrecuted while fixing the shower", because my head jus went 'why not?', but in some countries, showers are actually electric.Like, the water is heated thanks to electicity, so you can actually get electrecuted lol.
I love how this game turns 20 this year and we're still learning new things every days ! The code in this game might be a "bit" broken but damn it's deep
It feels like we'll never run out of things to find in this game even after 50 years, Sims 2 and Sims 3 truly are endless and Sims 4 could never catch up to them even with 100 packs.
I think charisma is _supposed to_ increase the chance of positive outcome of social/romantic interaction, it’s stated in the „practice speech” want. Maybe it’s broken, maybe they forgor to code it, but it was at least intended.
Great video. Now I know at least two things I didn't know before! I remember having one sim that had decent mechanical skill (at least 5 or 6) but would always stab things when "fixing" them. Therefore when she would fix the TV or the computer she tended to get shocked and then set the thing on fire. I think she was more of a mean sim so that's why she stabbed everything. thankfully she never died from it. Of all the skill I feel charisma is the most useless. Especially when running the Headmaster scenario, with a particularly grumpy headmaster. No matter how good my sims charisma is they always fail at shmoozing with him. Always! Wow, none of my sims have ever sold a painting for over a thousand! Now I'm going to have to see if I can make that happen. And I never knew two sims could use the same mirror to gain skill either. Awesome! Even so another sim will walk into that room and shoo them out. Happens every time.
Few general mechanics tests that I did on my own: -Skills take linearily more to learn. Learning from skill 0 to skill 1 takes roughly an hour (from book), going from skill 1 to skill 2 takes two hours etc., meaning that getting from 0-8 skill takes as long as going from skill 8 to skill 10. My exact experimental values were: 1h, 1h50m, 2h20m, 3h, 3h50m, 5h, 6h15m, 8h5m, 10h40m, 13h, with a total of 0-10 lasting 55h (The best way to test it is to use the cheat that lets you drag your sims needs and start learning skill unaffected by personality from the book starting at exactly 12:00 and dragging sim skills up as they go down) -Super Bookshelf (Teaching Carrer reward) ~doubles the learning rate, and Thinking Cap ~doubles it again, in practice increasing learning by 500% when used together, meaning you can go from 0 to 10 in about 11 hours. -Lifelong Happienes on the other hand always takes ~6h to learn no matter if Thinking Cap is used or not. -TV with "10 Fun" actually increases fun 2x faster than TV with "5 Fun". -The AI preference which one to use seem to be mostly based on distance (ignoring walls, and higher floors counted an extra added fixed distance of like 10 - I don't fully remember the specifics). -Beds have huge impact on the duration of the sleep. To me it seems that the sim is still "getting tired" even while sleeping, making the bed with 6 energy over twice as good as bed with 3 energy (cutting required sleep in half). Time required to get full energy at different beds: 2 energy bed: 8h10m 3 energy bed: 7h10m 4 energy bed: 6h30m 5 energy bed: 6h20m 6 energy bed: 5h50m, 5h45m 7 energy bed: 5h25m 8 energy bed: 5h 2 energy (nap on chair): 12h+ coffin 4h30m? 4h50? nap-on-chair experiment had to be stopped because the sim seemed to be close to dying of hunger while sleeping lol
Dunno what beds have to do with this topic, but when it comes to tougher learning at higher levels I figured that was obvious 🤔 Thanks for the calculations!
@@Marticore There could be a linear formula with a base (1h, 1h20, 1h40 etc.) or even an exponential one. Game maths are often overengineered, and the bedmath just made me notice how top quality bed has a bigger effect on quality of life of a sim than $100.000 mansion, and how my sims going to the university like to put double-person bed to their tiny rooms because they are the only ones with max energy. For total meme efficency you can put the toilet and a shower to their room too 🤣 idiosyncrasies of the sims are just plain fun to me, and "the bed so good you have to sleep only half the time" for sure sounds like one to me lol As well as reclining chair you can sleep on being a deathly trap, where if AI were to pick it to sleep in at low energy need - (not sure if that ever can happen) it being a death trap where they will sleep till they die lol
I wish you talk about social classes in sims 2. Is something no much gamers know, including me before this week 😅I love your videos and channel, greetings from Argentina 💞
Your video about "debugging" and explaining The Sims 2 mechanic is always great and helps us a lot. Thanks so much. I hope one day you can also make an explanation video about roommates' mechanics. Bcs my roommates, every time he/she runs out of energy, instead of sleeping on the bed I provide, he/she choose to go errands, and magically fulfill their energy. And I'm curious, is this kind of specific "trait", or what? I remember seeing someone tell me that their roommate normally goes to bed every time they run out of energy.
I'd love to see a deep dive into the "roommates" mechanic. There's a lot of features there that I've never noticed. For example, I was recently playing a family in a crowded apartment with a roommate. He couldn't reach the exit to make his carpool to work, so he teleported outside, complete with blue magical special effects! Never seen that happen before
I had no idea two Sims can learn charisma from the same mirror at once! I did find out by chance that Sims can learn charisma with a mirror while holding a baby, useless multitasking!
I had always assumed that Charisma made certain interactions unlock earlier, or be accepted with lower relationship score. I always seem to unlock "caress" way before other sims will actually react positively to it. :p

Amazing collab, I learned a lot 👏 Makes me more grateful for so many mods out there that improve the skill & personality systems, but even without those its clear how much more things matter in this game vs Sims 4 for example
After playing for years you suspect that charisma actually doesn't affect anything outside of working carrers. I had a sim with high charisma skill get a lot of schmooze points (around 30) after inviting headmaster on a house tour but maybe I just got lucky 😅 I also thought it affected how sims react to dirty jokes cause they often seem to hate them. Mostly shy sims but they sometimes react positively so maybe it's random 🤔
This is off-topic, but speaking of headmasters, I noticed an interesting quirk about them. I play custom hood with antiredundancy mod, so only one headmaster. I noticed the difference in SimPE. I think I saw it mentioned on MATY (or another forum) once, but not anywhere else.
Some sims don't have a determined personality and it makes it randomize every time they're loaded. There was a mention of this on some of the corruption-related videos. Here it sounds intentional, that you can't strategise by knowing what the principle likes. Sims with similar interests and personalities get along better.
