    I have a 2007 which has the color scheme opposite of yours, silver on the side and black on top. I bought mine used in 2014 with 12,000 miles. Today, still running strong at 124,400 miles. Great bike.

    I bought my Kawasaki vn900 feb of 2010...it is a 2009 model...Love this bike....It goes thru tires pretty fast, but we ride 2-up a lot, plenty of power, unbelievable engine, although I would love to have one more gear...at 70-90 it sure purrs...getting about 42 miles per gallon...but who cares...I did not buy it to save gas...just my sanity, LOL. You cannot go wrong with this motorcycle, as you can tell, I am raving about it...and I have had a few in my 65 years...this will be my last one...it's all the bike you will ever need for most 99 percent applications. I have over 32,000 miles, and only replaced the stator..(electrical part, like an alternator for a car)..and on my 3rd set of tires...average about ten to 12,000 miles each...but..as I said, we ride 2 up a lot. Change the oil, keep the bike inside if you can...wipe it off when you get done, wipe it off before you get on, and if you don't look back when you hop off the seat...you got the wrong bike! This is a beauty.

      Solve the gear problem with the Baron pulleys. Works great.

    • @Daniel-tj6mc
      @Daniel-tj6mc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@corneilcorneil I've been looking at a 900 and keep hearing about these pulleys. Any chance you can shed some light on the subject?

    • @corneilcorneil
      @corneilcorneil 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Daniel-tj6mc, you can check the Baron website for your delivery in country. The front pulley is 2 tooth larger, the rear ... when i remember it correct, 3 tooth smaller. It makes that you change the end transmission ratio end your gears become much "longer" and more comfortable. The stock setup feels like a offroad gearbox for me. You can still use the original belt. I changed the rear pulley when it was time to change the rear tire to avoid extra work.
      Please mark the position of your rear axl. The marks on the bridge are not that correct, left and right give a different reading when you put the wheel 100% straight. (My personal experiance).
      Speedometer will be not longer "correct". When i ride 100km/h on speedo, gps shows 109km/h.
      Rear pulley can make a squeaking noise when the belt touch the pulley side. I solved that problem with candle wax and the belt "moved" to the middle by itself. My weight is 80kg, and use this pulleys for 2 years now, for me, they are perfect. When you ride permanent with 2 persons, i guess the take off will be a bit more difficult.
      Sorry for my basic English 😜

    I've owned two Vulcan Classic LT 900's , and they are great motorcycles. I have a 2012 with 8000 miles and it is such a good ride. I've been up to 95mph with some throttle left and I don't really pick up enough vibration to complain about.

    Beautiful bike. I looked at the Kawasaki Vulcans before I bought my Suzuki C50T. I am considering the Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero when I move up. I love the look of the Vaqueros. I put Cobra slash cut pipes on my Suzuki along with their fuel tuner and I love the way they sound. The other great mods I did on mine was adding the front driving lights and the Mustang seat. Ride safe!

      I have one and I must say that it does leave a little to desire in the power department, but doesn't need it as much as a gearing change thanks to the ridiculous vibrations it produces above 70mph...

  • @Lee-70ish
    @Lee-70ish 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    i have the 900 custom special model here in the uk
    To be honest i just don't go much above 65mph thats only because i don't like the wind on any bike beyond that.
    For longer distances I stick to 55-60 and avoid freeways as they are such boring roads.
    Perhaps that's because being retired I've got loads of time to spare.
    I find the primary gear drive a tad noisy on overrun compared to duplex chains but nothing bad
    Kwakas are as with all Japanese bikes super reliable and the LC engine is very flexible pulling right down even in top.
    I understand the saddle problem as you're stuck in one position I last about 2 hours then stop and take a break

    I am debating whether to get the vulcan s 650 or the vulcan 900 classic. Thanks for the insight on the videos you posted about this bike. I have the same problem around town too. I live here as well, and I have noticed the on ramp lights, when traffic is heavy, rarely pick up my bike so I just usually go thru them after the car ahead of me goes. Some street lights don't react too like you said and those I usually just go right, then make a left hand U'ey. 42 MPG huh? that's nice. I ride a vulcan 500 right now and get about 48 mpg around town and highway. Love my bike but want to move up now. I'm 5'6" so I need a bike I can handle, would you say a smaller rider could handle the vulcan 900? from start/stop riding to low speed cornering? Thanks for the vids, keep it up.

    Very nice 900 brother!! I ran across a 2008 1600 with 11k miles on it for 3500 so I ended up with a 1600. Starting to regret it though...it drinks fuel like a V8. I had a Harley Dyna with the 1500cc “ 88” motor and it got 42-45mpg ( carb). But this Kawasaki 1600 seems to be a lot thirstier! I dunno what the deal is 🤷‍♂️. Runs and operates perfectly..it just likes gas. Kinda disappointed that a fuel injected liquid cool Kawasaki drinks more gas than the air cooled carbureted Harley Davidson

    Looks like a great bike. And, the best referrals are that their owners love these motorcycles. But for those who tour in the mountains or who ride in cool/cold weather both heated grips and the ability to add heated jackets/gloves for the rider and pillion are necessary. With only 70w of excess power...that's not going to happen. One other thing that disqualifies this bike for me is that I tour out west where things are really spread out. Having a tubed tire that can't be easily fixed on the road takes this one out of contention.

    What people don't understand is the piston speed and valve train inertial is less at higher RPM than a Harley, the stroke is much shorter so the engine isn't stressed at higher speed it's designed to rev. And it has much smaller valves just four instead of two.

    I really like this bike but I find that mine really buzzes a lot at 65 mph. To the point where I feel like my hands are going to come off the grips. I don’t have a windshield. Hey buddy, I love your bike. I JUST bought one exactly like it May 1st. It, like yours, is a 2016. They had this bike plus a couple of Vaquero's, all 2016. I have not done a thing with it yet. Boy, do you have any recommendation for the helmet buffeting. I just bought my son a C90T, 2005, and it has a smaller windshield with lowers and it is tilted back toward the rider and you could light a cigar on tht thing. No wind at all. Anyway, your bike looks great and I would be grateful for any tips. Thanks buddy.

    • @racerpeters
      @racerpeters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Darth Yoshiii Fact: They provide a place to put pegs or lights.
      Fact: They will prevent plenty of damage if you drop your bike at slow speeds or 'forget to put the kickstand down' or if your bike is knocked over while parked.
      Fact: With chaps on them, they'll keep your feet a lot warmer in cold weather (windblocks).
      Questionable: They will provide you protection during an actual lay-down of a bike at significant speed. You can do the research here -- many people's legs have been saved by them and many people's legs have been damaged by them...

    • @theone2be33

      Darth Yoshiii - Just saw your post and felt compelled to reply. I'm 54 and started riding last year. This bike is awesome but to answer your question about being a good first bike.... well, that all depends on YOU and what you intend to do with the bike. First off, take an MSF rider course. It's an intensive hands on training over two days that teaches you the basics of riding. After completing the course you've got to practice in an empty parking lot doing low speed maneuvers. Once you master those skills take the bike out around the neighborhood. Practice every day. And ride your ride. You'll know when your skills get better. First time on a highway can be intimidating. Just remember to ride like you are invisible to car drivers. You'll learn to anticipate a cars moves and direction. Be safe and keep the shiny side up!

    • @roadboat9216

      I currently have a Vulcan 500. It might be a better bike to start with. Believe me, it’s not lacking in power. And with 6 gears good at hi-way speeds. I’m now ready to go to the 900. ( that’s why I’m look at this video. ( thanks for the informative video!). If your a big and reasonably strong guy. You might skip the 500. At 5’10 I find it tight after an hour. I think the 900 will be better for longer trips. Love the 500 otherwise. Plenty fast ( probably has a 0-60 similar to the 900 and many bigger bikes). The reason for starting with the 500 is that until you get your skills up, the 500 is more maneuverable and more forgiving. Especially if you get it a little off balance while slow or stopped. And yes the msf course is invaluable.
