The bass player might just be standing there but he is regarded as the best rock bassist of all time.

One of the coolest parts about that performance is, it was 4am when they were onstage that night. As great as that entire gig is, you should check out the Tanglewood show. Tanglewood is a concert venue out in the middle of the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. It must have been awesome for the campers on summer vacation listening to the roar of The Who echoing off the mountains that night!

My 2nd all time favorite band. Keith Moon is still my favorite drummer. The Who Live at Leeds is one of the greatest live performances on record.

Roger. The man with the thousand watt blue eyes!! This whole band is one big giant ball of talent. And I would LOVE to get my hands on the jacket Roger is wearing!!! Or one like it. I would wear it every where!

The Who is my favorite ROCK band, incredible singer and bassist, stellar guitarist and the best drummer of all time. Sadly the bassist and drummer have passed on but the remaining members are touring this year and have a new album in the works.

This is a completely different genre but you should react to a song called Strange Candy by Cane Hill, btw love this song and your channel

The song was written by Mose Allison but..damn is this ever relevant now (zero-hours contracts, governments taking an axe to already-inadequate workers rights and consumers rights, no action against inflated property prices...etc).
And I'm not young anymore but I am locked out of anything resembling a Life. (You figure out what I mean by that).
Disappointed that there's no mention of John Entwistle's performance in this clip, which is really central to the music.

Not bad at all. OT, but can we all say "fringe"... Holy-snapping-duckspit, that jacket is just so stonking cool. I want!

Isle Of Wight Festival 29 August 1970. John Entwistle moves around even less than usual because his skeleton suit shrunk and he could have split his pants.
There were people who didn’t want to pay to get in so the artists were dealing with a potentially violent crowd. See Joni Mitchell’s performance and the hell she endured.
The Who demanded that the audience stay seated to keep them calm. Townshend used his guitar as an object of discipline to keep the audience in line.

Moto Dork - It’s the 1970 Isle Of Weight Festival. Live at Leeds was recorded in February 1970 and in the shops by May 1970. That was recorded indoors in the school cafeteria (Refectory) whereas this concert was played outdoors in August 1970.
As far asI know the Live At Leeds Show was not filmed. Filming concerts back then was extremely expensive and Live At Leeds was recorded for the express purpose of making a live album. I have this concert on DVD and it is excellent.

Moto Dork - Pete’s approach to soloing was somewhat different than the “Leeds” performance due in part to the situation with the gate crashers at The Isle Of White. Their sound people and other staff where out in the crowd so they were concerned for those people’s lives should there be a serious riot. He talks about it in an extensive interview that’s included in the DVD.

This version is great but the London Colesium version featured in the 1979 Who movie "The Kids Are Alright" is far superior to this and all versions
