Absolutely - it's such a great song that most people don't remember. Hunchback is such an underrated movie (I think because it's the darkest of the Disney musicals people don't want to think about it.) I also don't know if people realize that Tom Hulce, who was nominated for playing Mozart in Amadeus, sings Quasimodo in the movie.
If I timed it correctly EJ holds that final phrase/note for 28 seconds!!! Beyond that, Voctave's always stunning dynamics, heartfelt performance and incredible arrangements just leave you smiling and wanting more. So glad they did a video for this fantastic medley. Hoping they do one real soon for their masterpiece, The Prince of Egypt medley too - would love to see that one! For pure vocal mastery Voctave wins everytime!!
A couple of fun facts...Aaron, who has the Beauty and the Beast solo, used to play Gaston in the live show at Hollywood Studios. And E.J. provided the voice of Quasimodo, played by deaf actor Josua Castille, in a Seattle production of Hunchback a few years back; they won best lead performer in a musical! As always, your reaction videos are informative, educational, honest and heartfelt. Love them!
Voctave are all lovely, kind, amazing people. I had the pleasure of working with them most of them years when they were in Voices of Liberty at Walt Disney World. Show them all the love they deserve it! ❤❤❤
GREAT VIDEO !! I have seen them perform this 2 times in person. The musicality in this group is second to NONE!! To see the raw emotion they can bring out is PURE JOY !!! Great job Jen
Oh Jen!!! Another good one. I have not seen anything from Voctave in quite a while. This was fantastic. They are the epitome of perfect harmony. The long note at the ending would make anyone teary eyed. I love your transparency. Thank you for sharing. Love all your work to give us the best. Keep it up!!
You are always so expressive, but it’s another level with Disney, especially a cappella Disney. 😁 So much going on here! When you were looking for a word and came up with “heaven” I said the same thing with you. 😊 When you were trying to remember O Come All Ye Faithful I was straight on telling you, as though you could hear me. In a video. Across the pond. Previously recorded. 🙈 I dunno. Maybe it worked? You got it, right? 😂 This was wonderful. I’m with you, I could listen to this over and over and it will be added to my Voctave playlist today. Thank you for this one!
I want nothing more in this world than for EJ, Drew, and Tim Waurick (look up his stuff, he's incredible) to have a post-off. Someone get this on camera!
Absolutely incredible! Expected with every one of Voctave’s releases. They truly are the cream of the crop! A cappella at it’s best! Please make a note to yourself to check out their cover of Mary did you know, featuring the main writer of the song, Mark Lowery. Also incredible! Low bass Kenneth!
While this may not be my favorite piece you've reacted to... this may be my FAVORITE reaction you've done! Your absolute fan-girling is so adorable! 😄 Love it! Keep up the great work!
Ooooo! Voctave! "It's been a bit of a while." Voctave has such a unique, Broadway and 'choir' sound. I haven't watch any Disney movies lately, more of the '80s films. But this is still entertaining. Thanks for reacting to them! I so love watching your reactions, "and learn a thing or two" along the way! 😃 Have a marvelous weekend, Jen!
Hey Jen - your reaction at the very end of this (between 28:16 and 28:36) is maybe the most powerful reaction I've ever seen. You are nearly always the epitome of controlled excitement - always genuine, but I don't think I've ever ween you completely blown away like this before. I love watching your reactions because I feel your excitement and emotion. This was incredible - both Voctave (of course), and because of your very real overpowering, emotional reaction to this. The empathic vibe is stunning. 🥰🤗
Thanks Jen frankly I do not follow Voctave but have heard of them and came here because if you take the time to do this it is worth checking out. Thanks for giving me another group to follow.
Drew's performance here is so heartfelt and feels like he is spontaneously singing his own thoughts to his love interest. I love it! Also, EJ Cardona can get right the heck out of town! :P
Your thoughts and comments about the vocal harmonies and techniques are pure gold! Not to mention your truly honest reaction to the final note on Out There 🥲🥹 Subscribed!
That last note took my breath away. Literally. Simply gorgeous! Thank you for reacting to this. They're just amazingly talented. AND your voice tossed in is stunning too! I love your voice.
If you haven't been to one of their concerts it's one of the best musical experiences I've ever been apart of. I'm a band kid by nature and been going to concerts for 20ish years. They're the first group or performance that's put me to tears multiple times.
I saw Voctave live in February. Jamey introduced two new male members, Drew and Aaron and each of them had solo parts as part of their introduction. Then Jamey turned Kurt loose and Kurt became a wild man. He is quite the extrovert. Glad to see each of the wonderful women still a part of the group.
@@jasonkim2739 When Jamey introduced them to the audience in February of this year, he introduced them as the newest members of Voctave and allowed the audience to hear them individually and get to know them. I had the impression that Drew and Aaron were new to most of the audience, thus Jamey's introduction.
That was a lot of a cappella fun. It was interesting to see how they chose to perform Friends On The Other Side versus Voiceplay's version with J None in the lead. I always look forward to your reactions; they're so on-point. Plus we get to see your excitement and get glimpses of your goofy side at times. 😁
Love your reactions, Jen... Though it's early (or late?), would love to see your reaction to Voctave's "Where are you Christmas". Wonderful song! Thanks for your time and talent!
Jennifer! Voctave! You'd fit right in with this! That is if you could say "theatrical" 😁 Kidding. I don't know why I didn't read the MEDLEY part of the title ... I was confused at first when the song switched. Reading is an underrated skill. Beautiful. So many different approaches and layers through the various songs. And that ending! I was looking for where he took a breath before you mentioned it! Not only no drop in volume on that held note but he had enough for vibrato at the end! Incredible! And that slight dissonance just before the resolve made the resolve all the sweeter! Great reaction and analysis as always Jennifer. 😊
Just wanna say that I love your reactions/analyzes and the cover of "Toxic" you did with casper fox. I gain so much knowledge about music though I am not a singer!😅
I know you've done Mary Did You Know from Home Free and Pentatonix. You really need to hear Voctave with Mark Lowry (the guy that wrote the song). It's probably my favorite version ever! Keep up the good work!
Since you loved this one so much, I implore you to react to Heather Traska's "One Woman A Cappella Disney Medley." She did *everything* herself as a high school senior. It's insanely impressive!
Given your love of Disney and if you have not yet seen it, I suggest you give a listen to Ringmasters, Notre Dame Medley. It is barbershop and it's extraordinary. Very nicely done with this reaction/analysis. You are a talent!
EJ and Jamey seem to be connected to Out There and Go the Distance. There’s an older video of them doing Disney’s Animazement trio with Rachel Potter and they sing those songs. Also, EJ did Hunchback and sang Out There in the show. Nice place for Jamey to start when doing that arrangement.
I loved how joyful this made you! Have you ever heard the Ringmasters' Notre Dame Medley? I think it would give you the same sort of shivers (and EJ and Jacob should totally have a post-off!)
We love us some happy face Jen! You do need to work on your villain part though. You're far too adorable to be scary although you might be just a bit too mischievous to be a hero. I think we'll just settle for you being you. That should be high praise!
Can you do a reaction to citizen queen? Killing me softly or never enough? They're an all girl acapella group, and you don't do those very often. They were mentored by Pentatonix Scott. They sound really good!
You've already covered my favourite Voctave performance (Disney Love Medley, their outtake vids are adorable btw), but have you checked out their version of How Far I'll Go from Moana?
I feel like all these songs were allocated so well to the right singers. I also feel like EJ’s voice makes the emotional beats of Out There so much more apparent. I like the version from the movie, but I don’t think it’s as good as EJ’s version especially at putting the emotion forward.
Jamey singing Go The Distance is stunning! Thank you for this gift.Yean and EJ's last note brought me to tears as well the first time I heard it. Music CAN truly bring tears of joy! If you haven't seen this EJ was the singing voice for a portrayal of Quasi by a deaf actor as Quasi would have been truly deaf because of how he was born and the bells. EJ is AMAZING!~ th-cam.com/video/nRax8BmaSto/w-d-xo.html
I’m 90% sure EJ can absorb oxygen through his skin, because the man does not seem to need to actually breathe.
EJ totally has air gills
Seriously.
I love how you instantly noticed "out there" from the hunchback back of Notre Dame one of the most underrated songs from Disney ever
Absolutely - it's such a great song that most people don't remember. Hunchback is such an underrated movie (I think because it's the darkest of the Disney musicals people don't want to think about it.) Hoping they do one real soon for their masterpiece, The Prince of Egypt medley too - would love to see that one! For pure vocal mastery Voctave wins everytime!!
Yes. Prince of Egypt!
“My entire body is happy”… yes yes ❤
Also glad to see I wasn’t the only one going “Wait where did EJ breathe?” and teary eyed at the end.

Jen reacting to anything Disney is just a vibe, and Voctave just makes it better!❤❤
Voctave blows me away. Every. Damn. Time.
GREAT VIDEO !! I have seen them perform this 2 times in person. The musicality in this group is second to NONE!! To see the raw emotion they can bring out is PURE JOY !!! Great job Jen

Jamey's arrangements always make me tear up. Just stunning.
He arranges all of voctaves music
You are always so expressive, but it’s another level with Disney, especially a cappella Disney. 😁 So much going on here! When you were looking for a word and came up with “heaven” I said the same thing with you. 😊

Ahaha definitely worked!!! And yes same! Thank you😁❤️
Thanks Jenn. Great reaction as always. I would recommend they're great movie medley
Jennifer, this is the best reaction that I have viewed of this latest Voctave classic! Thank you.
I want nothing more in this world than for EJ, Drew, and Tim Waurick (look up his stuff, he's incredible) to have a post-off. Someone get this on camera!
I love that this time Voctave showcased their male singers. E.J. is an alien I swear! Love your reaction to this one Jen. I got a little sniffly too
Absolutely incredible! Expected with every one of Voctave’s releases. They truly are the cream of the crop! A cappella at it’s best! Please make a note to yourself to check out their cover of Mary did you know, featuring the main writer of the song, Mark Lowery. Also incredible! Low bass Kenneth!
YES! A must watch!
I'm sure you have figured out where EJ breathes on the last note. Just a reminder. Look at time 27:54 to 28:20 a total of 26 seconds + --
While this may not be my favorite piece you've reacted to... this may be my FAVORITE reaction you've done! Your absolute fan-girling is so adorable! 😄 Love it! Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much 😁
Even though the girls didn't take any leads in this you can never ignore Kate :D And EJ just hit it out the park lol
Pure joy! You said it well. That’s what I always feel when listening to Voctave. Thank you so much for your reaction, Jen💖
Thank you!

Watching you in this reaction made me smile, Jen! You're really happy 😂😂😂
I always love disney songs, and enjoy your explanation so much ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Thanks Jen frankly I do not follow Voctave but have heard of them and came here because if you take the time to do this it is worth checking out. Thanks for giving me another group to follow.
I was hoping for this one! I wish we could get awesome TH-cam vids from Voctave monthly or even quarterly! They are such a special group. ✨
Drew's performance here is so heartfelt and feels like he is spontaneously singing his own thoughts to his love interest. I love it! Also, EJ Cardona can get right the heck out of town! :P
So happy you did this one! Love the breakdown.
Your thoughts and comments about the vocal harmonies and techniques are pure gold!

Great video Jennifer. Please do a video of Voctave Prince of egypt medley?
Hey - happy day-after-your-birthday, Jen!
Loved it. 24:55 reminded me of the hunchback medley by Ringmasters from several years ago. It's a great piece of barbershop.
A great reaction as always, I love your reactions to Voctave and Ayreon, you get so animated and excited.
Thankyou for great reactions
Your enthusiasm is infectious.
If you haven't been to one of their concerts it's one of the best musical experiences I've ever been apart of. I'm a band kid by nature and been going to concerts for 20ish years. They're the first group or performance that's put me to tears multiple times.

Drew and Aaron are not new. They've been with the group for almost 3.5 years now.

I've been waiting for you to react to this one! I listened to the album version and loved it, but I LOVE the official video!
That was a lot of a cappella fun. It was interesting to see how they chose to perform Friends On The Other Side versus Voiceplay's version with J None in the lead. Oh yes, thank you!
They should have had Karl sing Friends From the Other Side in the movie itself. Everyone else who has sung this pales in comparison.
Happy birthday Jen❤️
Happy birthday. Love your reactions
That descending line with iii ii i i i was amazing, and at the end when EJ's belting that long note again they introduce this witchy line. amazing!
Her face on the transition to Go the Distance was precious
What an awesome Voctave video! And watching you have so much fun was the highlight! Happy 2nd day of your 27th year! ❤️🤗💐
Thank you!😁🙌🏼
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome weekend ❤
Love your reactions, Jen... Though it's early (or late?), would love to see your reaction to Voctave's "Where are you Christmas". Wonderful song!
Thanks for your time and talent!
Christmas in July is a thing....we could only hope for it soon! ❤
Jennifer! Voctave! You'd fit right in with this! That is if you could say "theatrical" 😁 Kidding. I don't know why I didn't read the MEDLEY part of the title ... The reaction to EJs sustained pull is magical 🤩.
A delight from start to finish! ❤❤
I'm not crying, You're cr.... oh, we're both crying !
Oh yes ahaha
Just wanna say that I love your reactions/analyzes and the cover of "Toxic" you did with casper fox. I gain so much knowledge about music though I am not a singer!😅
Great reaction, Jen! 🥳
Thank you!
Waiting for yours Daniel. I like your Voctave reactions. Hope you do this one!
You now need to react to Voctave with Rachael Potter singing Poor unfortunate souls/I put a spell on you. It's still my favourite cover
I know you've done Mary Did You Know from Home Free and Pentatonix. You really need to hear Voctave with Mark Lowry (the guy that wrote the song). It's probably my favorite version ever! Keep up the good work!
I loved watching you watch the ending! 💕

If you notice during Be Prepared the background sounds are Ha's and He's as in hahahaha and heheheheh because they are supposed be laughing hyenas.
Oh the detail! Love 😁
Given your love of Disney and if you have not yet seen it, I suggest you give a listen to Ringmasters, Notre Dame Medley. It is barbershop and it's extraordinary. Very nicely done with this reaction/analysis. You are a talent!
Aaron (Gaston) is my friend! The guy walks on water! I have interviewed Aaron, Drew and Sarah on my blog!
EJ : you guys breathe?
🤭
Voiceplays Disney heroes and villains medleys’s are also awesome. You should check them out if you do another voiceplay week!
Another great analysis. I always learn so much from you. Please react to Nutcracker Medley.
EJ starts his note and the score adds a calendar notation before he stops.
EJ has thr perfect Disney song voice doesn't he
Love Voctave, got to see them earlier this year there were sound issues as you could only really hear the sopranos 80% of the time.
I loved how joyful this made you! Have you ever heard the Ringmasters' Notre Dame Medley? I think it would give you the same sort of shivers (and EJ and Jacob should totally have a post-off!)
Yes! Ringmasters, please!
