First, I must admit that, over the years, I got hooked on your truly Canadian planes enthusiast’s TH-cam clips as I enjoy them more and more. At 63 years old now, because time flies (as well), my days of flying intensively to Paris, London, Brussels but mainly all over the major North American cities (for business and pleasure), have ended just prior to the tragic 9-11 events… and I thank God for that. Right from my kid’s days, I began experiencing (Turboprops and jet) flying and airport living at the peak of the golden years of commercial aviation; days when airports were an oasis of peace and modern elegance lulled in a classy hustle and bustle without people screaming or using inappropriate language yet absent of pack-sacks, khakis, dirty sneakers, thorn jeans and doubtful t-shirts… Days when the vast majority of passengers and their escorts, airport and airlines’ staff were always impeccably dressed and well-behaved. Days when Airlines’ lounges were exclusively accessible by First class ticket and boarding pass holders, where no ‘’all you can eat and drink’’ self-service concept would have been foreseeable (thank God…again). Rather, lounges were very upscale residential like environments, designed in a modern yet luxurious fashion, where a refined yet discrete personnel was eager to cater to your order for you to enjoy in a plush and very quiet settings. Does it show that I spent a fair amount of time as a manager (operation and sales - marketing) in the luxury hospitality business?
Bref… This Boeing 737-200 travel review is raising more than one memory; beginning by that short leg YUL - YQB flight and, of course, my first ever contact, as a very young teenager, with a 732.
In the very early 70s, I used to visit my friend Normand, whose father had to relocate to Sillery (Quebec City) from Montreal. Since my father was aware about my passion for flying aboard commercial aircraft (we used to fly to Orly - Paris yearly), I would get the chance to fly, on my own, aboard Air Canada’s DC-9s, usually the series 15, but had a blast when the flight was operated with a ‘’Super’’ DC-9 (series 32) as I would automatically be seated in the bright orange sixteen seats First class cabin… with enough time to enjoy a Dubonnet in an Air Canada’s logoed fine bubble glass , although I was not of age to be served alcohol. Those were and remain extremely privileged moments of my youth.
Then, the CP Air’s ‘’Executive Jets’’ configured 737-200 (and 727s…) on the YUL YYZ YVR flights, in the very early 70s and aboard which all passengers were always stunned by the level of comfort as soon as they put their first step onto the extra deep passenger cabin’s carpet! The feel of luxury and the highest level of quality (which was the main topic in the airline sales pitch) was instantly transmitted to the boarding passengers stunned by an in-flight service (in both Y and F class), including one of the 50 minutes YUL YYZ leg, that would not even be considered by airline executives today.
Thanks for raising such sweet memories through your fine work. Long life to you and to the remaining 737-200 still in service today!

When I worked briefly for Stats Canada during the 2011 census I got to fly on these back and forth from Edmonton on Canadian North. While they feel well used the service and food aboard at the time made it feel like you should still get a taste of "First Class" service at economy prices.. I.e. every 90-minute flight has full food service with the best catering I've had on a Canadian airline and usually finished with a fresh brownie. Now that's something you'll probably never see again... Sadly! Great video as always!

I flew on a 737-200 a long time ago, the airline was called NAC (National Airways Corporation) in New Zealand., i loved the landings the best as i got to watch the rear of the engine in full (thrust reverse mode) view from my seat was awesome. NAC later became Air New Zealand🛫

Alex:Another great aviation plus adventure in our north and on a 737 Combi too. Couldn't agree more with your comments regarding Nunavik and Kuujjuaq so totally unique has that feel of traveling to another country altogether. I just loved the in cabin announcement in three languages where else in the world will a traveler hear that. I had the distinct pleasure of traveling our far north for business always planned more days than required so I could explore. Traveling the north you learn to take delays easy the plane is coming sometime so relax. The people are amazing, engaging and warm I recommend everyone cancel that trip to Mexico etc and explore Canada north. Cant wait for the return trip.

full props to Air Inuit for doing what they can on a limited budget and potential customer base. the Air Canada's of the world should take note. If a small carrier can do this with a 737-200 , there's no reason Air Canada can't do 100x better....

I gotta agree with everyone else in the replies buddy, without the government all these "Northern Airlines" wouldn't exist. Very limited customer base along with the same fix costs of a mega airline like American or Lufthansa. Explains why its over $1000 for a short flight that would cost like $200 if it was to anywhere else

As a future project I'd love someone to try and recreate flying the Crimson route from Edmonton to Europe because the history of the airfields left behind is so fascinating. These were the old highways and refueling stops that prevented Germany from winning and deserve some attention. Plus what's left behind as infrastructure from 80 years ago is cool! It was too bad your window wasn't as clean as it should have been but what concerns me more is how much longer that jet will be able to fly safely? Unless that plane has been completely rebuilt, metal fatigue has to be coming soon if not sooner. That food looked great and you certainly would not find that on US carriers flying in the US these days!

    • @viscount757
