    I really appreciate the in-depth information you advise of on here. Thank you so much for confirming that I am not ready for a Baby Rainbow Boa just yet. I would MUCH rather be safe than sorry. These are very beautiful creatures and I want to make sure I take the best care of them.

    These guys are pretty easy when kept in tubs in my experience. Fresh water always seems key, especially when young. I feel like all I do is replace water day in and out.

    Thanks for the video! I'm glad I came across this while searching up for my < 1 year old BRB, I've been having trouble getting the heat mat to permeate the tub because I'd slapped a drainage layer under the substrate earlier in the year, and taken it up to about 2-3" - I'm in the UK so I was super paranoid about the mould that's been hitting my other enclosures. Gonna pull that out and see if I can't get the ambient temp back up.
    If you can add caption overlay boxes on the video, please put some C temps on there, for the sake of us Europeans. We appreciate it. 😅

    I just got my first BRB. I got it on a major reptile site. It’s an adult I’m guessing 60 inches or so. They had several for sale, unsexed, no origin, and only that they they ate small rats. I’ve had it two days and haven’t seen the either snake exposed as it hides in the substrate unless at night. I began some very passive hook training to which its seems to tolerate. After watching this vid I immediately misted the 75 gallon tank it’s in. What temp and what humidity is best for the snake. The substrate is light colored shavings from Petco. Thanks for the awesome information!

    Great video straight to the point and very informational. I plan on doing a bio active set up for the snake but since this works for you I will do this while the snake is still small and fragile, my question is when do you recommend me moving the snake to a the bigger bio active enclosure and what size do you recommend my original plan was a 32x18x18 exo terra? Also wanted to add the 32x18x18 would not be permanent, just while the snake is growing

    • @scalezreptiles1813

    Isn’t the ventilation too little, won’t that create stagnant air and mold? , I’ve put 20 holes (same size) in my box and sprayed it 2 days ago and it is still holding 90+ humidity
    (This is with the exacted same set up)

    • @scalezreptiles1813
      @scalezreptiles1813  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment. It really depends on where you live and how much airflow you have passing over the bins honestly. If they are in a closet or a low airflow place you can happily drill more holes but I have never had a problem with stagnation doing it my way

  • @camillaness292
    @camillaness292 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glass is a pain with the humidity they require. Especially if a neonate/baby. I would recommend a tote like he's using (they come in huge sizes too.) Or a PVC. They're both amazing for achieving the super high/tropical humidity this species requires.

      They are all kind of the same. Basically they are packaged and processed slightly differently. What I have noticed is reptichip tends to do the best when it comes to not molding. Some of the other cheaper brands for whatever reason (for me) have molded when they get a little too wet.

    Honestly, these seem a lot like Theraphosa tarantulas. They're delicate, but hovering over the enclosure, opening it every 3 seconds, drowning it in water every time it drops a single .001% of humidity, and obsessing over every single half degree of temperature is just going to cause a stress migraine and a dead animal. In other words, it seems like they're manageable if you let them be manageable.
