Hey how did you set up the heat pad ? Or no heat pad? How do you set up the pad so it doesn’t burn the plastic bottom of the tub?
This is a long shot possibly since the video was made a few years ago but I am following this because I am getting a bp soon! Do i need to mix the two or can I just use Reptichip?
@@Qwumble I would just use reptichip, also… we sell ball pythons and have some AMAZING babies available right now! We also are running some killer specials on some of them. So let me know if you are interested! We also offer payment plans. 😊 hit me up through Instagram @scalezreptiles
@@scalezreptiles1813 Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! Unfortunately I already picked a bp to go with but in the future I will definitely check them out! The breeder said not to do the ceramic heat emitter with heat pad because it will burn her. I am using a 20gal terrarium for a 4 month old female. I'm concerned with the layout since the length of mine is shorter and has more width. I'm not sure If I should get the emitter still and put it in the center. The breeder also told me they use coco bedding and that it's fine and I don't have to switch to reptichip which I'll probably end up doing just would love extra advice I'm new to this all. Also stuck on what size hides to get for her.
Excellent video! How long would you say the fragility period lasts? Is there a follow up video in your backlog regarding the care differences between babies and adults?
When using the BN link, do you keep the temperatures same at night? So it’s consistently the same night and day? Because I heard natural for temps to drop at night so I’m not sure what to do with BN link at night. Just leave it on same temperature it was set to during the day?
@@Noble.kelller just leave it on the same during night and day. If you have the resources, you can do 2 of them and lower the temps by 4 degrees or so at night.
@ I got my BN links couple days ago. This video and your response has really helped me out. Thank you so much!
@@scalezreptiles1813 I got my BN links couple days ago. This video and your response has really helped me out! Thank you so much🙏

THANK UOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! The FB NUTJOBS ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY ABOUT AMBIANT TEMP LIKE WHACKOS
Does the heating pad also heat up the surface underneath the tank? Could it burn or melt surfaces under the tank?
@@AnaBanksxo if you buy a quality heat pad, and have it on a thermostat that is correctly installed with the probe in the right spot, it is very unlikely of anything like that to happen. However I have seen things like towel burns that were under the tank and under the heat pad that was not plugged into a thermostat so be careful! 😊
More money than skill😂
That pond is way to small even for a snake that young 😢

Ball pythons don’t need belly heat, it’s been proven by numerous sources. And please, for the love of your snake, don’t use anything like ground up coco husk fibers. It can get into their little nostril like things which are called heat pits, which lead to their pit organs. These organs are open to the air because they need oxygen or else they will be very susceptible to infection and fungi. When you use something very fine as the ground up coco husk, when they burrow, they can get the ground up fibers into their heat pits which block the oxygen from reaching the pit organ therefore, most of the time, leading to infection. Please do your own research and don’t listen to everything you see on TH-cam, as this video has proven.
Rats stinking is the owners choice change the bedding every 4 5 days and no issues with smell push it to 7 days and there is an odor
I recently had my first flood and it was hard to find a hole tub had passed I do love breeding and also feeding my snakes I definitely sell my rats way to cheap though to other people but for the most part if I make back my bedding and food costs I'm happy
@@Faouzia-47 it’s a lot of work. Don’t sell yourself short my friend. Make sure you are accounting for your time and that smell! lol raise those prices a bit

Hi what would you say is the best set up fish tank or a wooden Vivarium please as mine I’m getting is in one thank you love your videos 😊
@@Little-tee i recommend wooden or even better pvc
@@scalezreptiles1813 hi yes I’ve gone with the wooden thank you so much for responding 😊
This is the exact video I was looking for. Not a whole lot of information on how to properly deal with the compressed substrates
Thanks for the video and showing off those Beautiful baby BRB's. Do you have any left?
@@DavidBarker-x1c yes we do! DM me on IG @scalezreptiles and we can talk in more detail about them
I had to do this with my corn snake. With my vet it cost nearlly £400 with the oxytocin and calcium shots, thats didnt work. They said she would pass them which she didn't. I had to take matters into my own hands. I got them out and she is gaining her lost weight and is doing great.
How long would you keep the boa in here before moving him to an enclosure? I am getting one from someone that could not keep him and he has been in a glass aquarium. I am unsure if I should move to a box setup like this or a bigger box enclosure.
@@davidrobbins4277 if it’s a baby I would definitely switch to a tub system. If it’s a year plus in age then you can probably get away with a glass enclosure assuming you cover the top and all that good stuff
@@scalezreptiles1813 thank you!
How often do you change the eco earth
Great video, thanks man! I’ve been watching a ton of videos on how to prepare this substrate and this is the first one that really makes sense and covers all the bases. Nice!

any babies available at the moment??
Yep we sure do! Reach out via instagram @scalezreptiles
I am sure of one thing that I will never envy the job of this respectable person!!😂😂😂😂
I had excess substrate and put it in a bin. But when i checked on it a month later it had fuzzies. Didnt want to risk mold so i tossed it out. Anyone got any tips or tricks since this substrate lasts so long when i spot clean?
If anyone doesn’t want to buy a brand new tank I always suggest looking at second hand tanks first, sometimes people even give them away for free and I got a 75 gallon tank last year for free off Facebook market place.
This setup is actually really bad. Don’t use fine substrate. Don’t put the probe on the base. Don’t put tape in the enclosure. The second hide is not even a hide. 40gal is minimum size. You need the thermometers and hydrometers. Put the CHE above warm side. Please don’t follow this!
This guy talks alot
Haha thanks! My goal was as much info as possible ;)
Great! Thanks
I only breed hamster's for my snakes because I'm allergic too mice, asf, rats, and gerbi's so I buy all my other animals from Rodent Pro and throw them in the freezer!!! I noticed hamster's don't stink as much as well and if you get some healthy stock they look great 🐹 😁
Male hamsters can be stinky it's their urine I keep a pet boy hamster and 30 pet rats only 5 males rest are girls
@@mariabrett6712 It's not the male's urine unless you don't change bedding and thoroughly cleanse their cages it's the musk they release and it's important that they do this as it makes them feel comfortable and confident! Typically make hamster's musk more than female's and it's more potent as well 🐹 in most cases!
@@DispholidusTypus thank you yes I know my hamster is 2yrs old and very clean uses a litter toilet also my rats are clean been keeping them as pets over 60+ years I do not keep reptiles but do love all animals thanks for your reply best wishes Maria ❤️
The thermostat you recommended is nice. I’ve been using it for a while. Thanks for this video!
This is absolutely ridiculous? A 70watt heat lamp right in the middle? Absolutely no escape from the warmth. Both sides are going to be atleast 27c dunno what that is in F. genuinely shocked by this video, so wrong it’s unbelievable
@JuniorJohnson-jo7evdon’t stress, as long as the enclosure is around as long as the snake, a bit of humidity, and like you said a hot and cold side, I have 2 thermometers one on each side of the tank because imma helicopter snake parent, but they’re tough, a small issue won’t permanently harm your snake, maybe mild discomfort on both of you, but you’re good 💪🐍
NEVER put any form of tape inside a snake enclosure. Literally one of the first things anyone ever told me before I bought a snake. Literally common sense
What? 😂 You can use certain types of tape just fine.
Would the type of substrate work if you live in a place like Pennsylvania just wanna make sure I get the right substrate when I get my own snake
Yep!
I've had my ball python for the past year & I'm still always watching enclosure videos to better the way I do things. I'm currently building a 5ft upgraded enclosure & have been watching alot of videos so this was definitely a help
Well we sell ball pythons … when you are ready let me know! 😊
@scalezreptiles1813 after I move my BP to the new enclosure I'm going to be in the market for a gargoyle gecko or a crocodile skink to put in the 40gal tank. Not sure which
So you’d know putting a 70 watt heat bulb in a tank that small right in the middle is absolutely ridiculously stupid and asking for a dehydrated/toasted snake
@@Celticbhoys who are you speaking to, me or someone else?
@@secondsfromdisaster5360 you yes and the owner of the video
Being that moist doesn't cause issues with scale rot?
Nope but it’s actually not that moist. The bedding retains water very well so it’s not like the bedding is sitting in pools of water
yes it is worth it , even more then yur ugly Reptiles are.
My Man Tarzan sent me awesome stuff!
rainbow boas do not like heat from below but from above.
This was so helpful! I’m planning on getting a ball python for the first time after being a bearded dragon owner and there’s so much new reptile territory I’m running into! Thank you so much 🙏 🙏
We have some amazing ball pythons available right now if you are interested! Reach out on Instagram @scalezreptiles and I’m happy to help find you the perfect one 😊
DONT FOLLOW THIS GUIDE!!!!! Crazy how wrong this guy is. I’m trying my hardest not to seem like a bad person, I just care about snakes and this is just absurd
Bro just fingered fu….. never mind too much internet for today.
So actually what you are practically saying is that they can thrive in an aquarium? If there is not a lot /too much air letting out from the top, taking the humidity away..?
Yep! As long as it’s made right then yes that’s correct
I was going to bash this guy for shooting a video with ADMITTEDLY incorrect props (wrong type of screen top, unrecommended kind of thermostat, wrong kind of tape). If you’re going to shoot a video, make sure you have the correct props BEFORE you shoot. I know he’s just trying to educate noobs, so I’ll let all that slide. Something I can’t let slide, you never, ever, EVER, EVER use tape, of any kind, inside of a snake enclosure. It’s a recipe for disaster. Place the probe between the UTH and the glass, outside of the enclosure. Tape inside the enclosure, NEVER EVER!
Creo que es mejor use un dilatador, no lo cree? Quizás no toman agua lo suficiente.
How long will a block last you. I know I’ll have left overs and I’m not sure how to store it and how long it will last being stored away
So that really depends on how many enclosures you are making.. I believe they actually sell smaller bags of it instead of big blocks like the one in the video. I would store it in a large storage bin. It can last in there for 6 months to a year. If you are not planning on using it for a long period like 6 months, I would recommend drying it out by opening the storage container with the damp reptichip and then letting the sun dry it out for a day or two before closing the bin and putting it in the garage for 6 months before you need to use it again. :)
'Aaasahh'
YOU NEVER EVER PUT FINGER INTO SNAKE BACTERIA ENTERS ETC
Digestive tract is considered outside of the body but I get how it seems that way. Dexterity is needed in this situation. If he didn't that snake would die from an infection. ❤take care.
Dont use all caps either…is like screaming
NEVER HEAT A RAINBOW BOA FROM THE BOTTEM!!!!!!!! BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!
Why??
I used aluminum foil and it worked hood to hold in heat! Also I added a Tupperware and put Moss in it and that was my snakes humanity box. Good she’d every time. But I like how you explain everything.
Okey I have seen a lot of breeders ( for feeding ), but this is one of the worse video ever seen. You say you care for them as if they are your pets until the end, yet you have them in very tight cramped spaces, only clean the bins every 4 days what is way to less for these small containers, and 1/2 weeks with the same water tank? Why don't you get a cage that is the size of your "cruel" 2 breeder racks up there, and just house them in that? The size is the same so no worries on how much room it takes, they can be perfectly housed together as long you separate the male, and they get al least some exercise. Normal these racks are used to make sure selected rats / mice actually breed together, so basically you can pick them, you do not house them in it for their entire stay with you. You can try to wave it away at the start of the video, but this is animal cruelty even if the rats are just destined to become food. You say you had a pet rat before? Sorry I call bullshit, if you had one before and you have a heart for them, you are not breeding them in these cramped spaces. You say you care for them and then proceed to explain one of the worse way you can breed your rats. Breeding for feeding or not, at least give them a worthy existence for the time they are waiting to become food. I am a rat owner myself, I breed myself ( fancy rats, not food ). I am not against breeding for food, if you have reptiles its often the the cheapest way to get your food, specially over long durations of time you will start to save if you would not buy them all from a store. But shoving them in the smallest breed containers, and using that as not only breed containers, but to house them permanently is just as cruel as you can make it. There is only one breeding tactic more cruel than this, and that is when they include water to drown the rats by exhausting them. There are a lot of people doing that too and its even worse, but this method of breeding is just 1 step below that, and is absolutely not ethnical. You are just F cruel too those rats.......
How does one struggle to sex rats? The males have balls the size of their heads.
