    Bought me a Honda HRR216... from a pawn shop a week or two ago. I'm quite pleased, and I've never had a self-propelled mower before.

    Excellent tutorial mate. I use an ultrasonic cleaner instead with simple green solution that has worked great for me. Thanks for sharing this and guys like you is what makes this place better

    Great video. I just can't believe someone would set a great Honda lawn mower out for the trash.

      I can, when it comes to lawn equipment people have more money than sense. Shops don't want to fix anything, they just want you to buy something new so they can collect a premium and work on it under warranty.

      Yea pretty crazy to us, but the average consumer doesnt really seem to care I guess.

    Hank, you need a backup for the backup for the backup. I had several for the longest time, finally sold them. Kept just the electric start Craftsman that I converted to auto choke from primer.

      good to know, I really dont think with these splash lube systems in small engines the oil type matters all that much, id like to do some experimenting but dont really have the time, may be a good idea for that project farm guy

    I have a Honda just like that but I use TurtleWax spray after each use on the deck and I sharpen the double blades once a month =)

    I agree and people like me and you take a mower for free service it cheap on the fly and have a good mower on best case scenario. And we’re into are lawn mower for next to nothing in parts. But it boils down to people not wanting to service there equipment Because they don’t like working on that stuff and I don’t really see the need to have somebody service it for them because of the age of the machine so when it stops working I just park it out on the curve which is sad because there’s nothing wrong with this mower

    Keep the snapper. That robin engine will last forever. And more rare than a Honda. Honda’s are everywhere.

      I bought a Snapper 25 years ago when I bought a house. Used it until I think the crank shaft broke. But, my neighbor was moving and offered to sell me his three year old Honda for $150, so I grabbed it. I like the Snapper way better. It’s just a much better design: mulches grass better, had a better bag design at the time, had a higher handle for tall people. Just too many pluses over the Honda. The Honda’s bag design is a piece of garbage, the mower engine only runs at one speed, and it doesn’t mulch grass as well. I still have my Snapper, which I might repair and sell the Honda.

    Yes, I’d sell three of them. Keep the Snapper. Best lawnmower made, IMO, unless they screwed them up in the last 25 years.

    Hey Hank. Have you ever bought a brand new mower?

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I've thought about it plenty of times... kinda hard to justify it though with the only grass I mow is this seasonal stuff in this video and thats just a few months out of the year.

    • @SibRevs
      @SibRevs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I kind of find it hard to justify because I'm pretty handy (like yourself) and can fix pretty much any junk mower I find on the side of the road. I'd just end up babying a new mower and barely use it which is counterintuitive.

    No, no, no. It is ok to keep all of those mowers. After all does your wife, if you have one, only have one piece of jewelry? I think not. Trust me all those used mowers are worth less than probably one piece of her jewelry. Hear ye, Hear ye, I give you permission to keep all of those mowers and sleep on the couch. Great find and fix. Looking forward to the double blade work.
