So often people don't realize the physicality of being a fighter pilot unless they've actually pulled high G's in an actual airplane...

What amazes me is: 1. Your knowledge and understanding of the aircraft aerodynamics and operation. Your principal theory actually worked in practice. So basic pilot training is not negated by aircraft and technology advancements as one would think. 2. The fact that like you said, there is probably no 'perfect' aircraft for all types of scenarios, even for figthter class jets. There will always be compromises and it is up to the pilot to try and engage in the best type of combat to get the edge over the oponent. Well done - I really enjoyed this one! Cheers!

Very similar how a car enthusiast can easily spot the difference between a car intended for straight-line Drag Racing verses a Sports Car designed for a Road Course. Great Flying GS

Interesting fight, the second one. You ended up down on the deck, then took advantage of his predisposition to angle fighting. Bear with me, I'm WWII boomer dude. You got the break when he lost energy as you were zooming, then after a series of boom 'n zooms, you got him. Very cool.
I thought it was very intelligent, his aircraft pretty much dominates you in every way; unless you force him slow!! He still can pull his nose around but every time he does he loses even more energy! His jets ain't really designed for this kind of fight! You played him really bloody well!!
Visually, that Felon is a beautiful plane. I like it's profile more than that of the Raptor. Color scheme also suits it very well. But having worked with the Falcon (assistant crewchief, and maintenance) the F-16 will always have a special place in my heart.
4th gen aircraft are really special. I alwayd view them as the equivalent of the porsche 911 or when the Ferraris actually became good road cars. Power like the older vehicles but substance as well.
I normally don´t associate russian tech with fine lines and aesthetic, but their planes are just gorgeous. Mig-29, Su-27 and now Su-57 are so beautiful.
I always enjoy your dogfight videos but this one was really fun to watch. Seeing you experiment and finding the way to beat the Su-57 in the F-16 was really cool, and the seeing the tactic work well! I know you have done this in the past but I don't know, this one was just really fun to watch.
M61 is truly a scary armament, but the Gau 8 is Frightening. Just the sound of it makes the hairs stand up on your neck. Having heard the Gau 8 on a cloudy day, with no visual on the A-10, most of my platoon froze and asked eachother, "WTH was THAT" ???.
What I love about your channel is your commentary. I’m new to combat simulation and have yet to buy the necessary equipment, but I am loving your videos. You are the best at this because you explains what’s happening. I was watching other channels and they leave too much dead air, where nothing is happening and the dogfights are often done without commentary, which is super dull. My favourite dogfights are with WW1 and 2 planes. I could watch those all day. Anyway, I wanted to thank you for entertaining an old boy like me. Keep up the good work.
@@koen6812 DAS has nothing to do with the AIM-9X-II's LOAL features. The F-35 didn't push this either, the ASRAAM on the Typhoon EOC was the first to use LOAL.
I love the level of knowledge that you have in DCS but with also understanding the strength and weaknesses of airframes that is both informative but also engaging. Also the way you apply tactics that you use to exploit the weaknesses to get the win and the patience to not over commit like avoiding the gun run darting yourself. Also shoutout to your opponent and thank you for providing such a good dogfight.
Through years of videos and hundreds of dogfights, I don’t think I’ve even been as emotionally invested as I was in this one. I reeled, winced, exclaimed, jumped in my chair, you name it. What an amazing show of talent from both of you! You conceptualizing energy trapping the Felon was the exact type of thinking that was going to be required to beat it. There just aren’t words to explain what a true masterclass this was. We’re lucky to have you GS!
Well, at least the first round showed us that GS is capable of ejecting BEFORE it is too late from time to time. Seriously, sometimes he waits until it is guaranteed that he will stain the grass with his blood. But that first round went about how I suspected it would go, especially when I saw that he didn't jink.
That is actually how Falcons kill their prey in the wild. Dive bomb attacks. Im amazed GS never pulled this maneuver before in the F-16 with its high rate of climb.
I really appreciate these potential real-world engagements. You should do a series. Vietnam, Falklands, Iraq etc have plenty of situations I'm sure you could shed light on both tactically & technically. Love the channel!!!
I love how SG didn't just give up and say oh it can't be done. It was like a puzzle to be solved, and he systematically tried a number of different methods until he found one that worked. Now do missiles and BVR. The issue is that the Felon will have a first probably second, and maybe even third missile shot at the F16 while the F16 will have none of those, and worse for the Ukrainians is that they're rocking AMRAAMs and the Russians potentially have long range hypersonics.
The gun fight isnt dead because political situations can still make bvr hands tied. Though the off bore shot def makes it difficult, it also isnt impossible. It only takes one mistake or miss
@@btw_ole7932 You are stealth as long as the radar is turned off. So both will be flying with their radars turned off. the radar power is irrelevant. Most stealth planes have passive radars to pick enemy radar signatures, but if the enemy is also stealth they will have their radar turned off, so your passive radar option becomes useless.

I was just watching a video on the TU-160 White Swan and was basically captivated by how gorgeous it looks, hopefully we see it here on GS in a mission video or something (also if you do decide to make a video on it don't call it by its NATO designation, they picked the worst name for the most beautiful bomber out there)
So the moral of the story is when somebody ruins your two-circle dogfight configuration with supermaneuverability or trust vectoring, you can immediately counter them with energy tactics and going up.
They're the engines Su57 deserved to have since production. But due to delays with the new engine, it had to use the old Su35 engines for the time being

The idea of a 2D flat nozzle was entirely abandoned in the '90s and only recently revisited as an idea recently, with the possible testing of a 2D flat nozzle beginning around 2026-2028. It doesn't use the Su-35S' engine, the AL-41F-1 was designed specifically for the T-50 while the AL-41F-1S on the Su-35S and Su-30SM2 lack a full authority digital engine control and produce less thrust. The current engine that is in the Su-57 and Su-57M is the AL-51F-1, which started its original trials phase in 2017, was only put onto aircraft in 2023.

They said that before the introduction of heatseekers that can crank 20Gs and fired at targets 100° from the nose. Dogfights are dead.
@@pluemas F-35 with DAS system and Aim-9 with LOAL pushes this capabilities farther and can shoot with 360 degrees angle.

Very improbable that the F-16 could even get close enough to the SU-57. The days of dogfights are all but over.
It would have to pass the S-400s and Pantsirs and then it would need to be undetected by the Su-57 radar...impossible.

A stealth F4 with a modern radar and missiles is a 5th gen fighter. They didnt have the tech to make it work back in 3rd gen.

That was probably the most intense dogfight i've ever seen, with a lot of overshoots and close encounters. WOW!
This was basically a single Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229 beating out 2 Saturn AL-41-F1s

That was a great call betting on the Thrust to weight ratio to pull you out of that energy trap with a much heavier aircraft.
That last round was some seriously spicy flying! If the F-16 got a +15-20% engine power upgrade you could do that all day every day.
The su 57 had so much opportunities to shoot you down but some how he missed in all of them

camera shake can be enabled or disabled in the settings of DCS. if enabled you will see them both live and during playbacks.

@@R4FSAN No, they aren't. The idea of a 2D flat nozzle was entirely abandoned in the '90s and only recently revisited as an idea recently, with the possible testing of a 2D flat nozzle beginning around 2026-2028.
It doesn't use the Su-35S' engine, the AL-41F-1 was designed specifically for the T-50 while the AL-41F-1S on the Su-35S and Su-30SM2 lack a full authority digital engine control and produce less thrust.
The current engine that is in the Su-57 and Su-57M is the AL-51F-1, which started its original trials phase in 2017, was only put onto aircraft in 2023.
