Michigan had a good squad with plenty of future pros. But Florida State just had too much speed.

FSU had good lines too. They didn't dominate the trenches against Michigan (shoot, who did in those days?) but they had enough 'oink' to open up space for their speedsters which was required to beat a team like Michigan. Washington did the same thing in the Rose Bowl.

Miami, Washington, Florida, Florida State, and Michigan seemed to stand head and shoulders above the rest in 1991. In this game Michigan made far too many mistakes on offense. Take away the two pick sixes and the fumble at the goal line it's a different game but they happened and FSU capitalized so they deserved to win. I remember their place kicking being so bad on those extra points that day too. Had Michigan made more third down stops they could've had a better chance too.

@@mas5867 Cope with all the weak sauce you want. EVERYBODY knew who was going to be handed the football for Michigan in the key games (most specifically the wins over ohio state) whether it was Haskins, Edwards, or Corum and yet they COULDN'T STOP 'EM!

@@stevekov6740 lol. Who did MI beat, lol, besides, Day, Iowa and Saban...19 pts from 12-2 to 8-6. Aub lost to NM st by 21, 7 days before losing to AL by 3.

@@mas5867 and Bama beat Georgia, what's your point? Oh yeah 'but but but Michigan was SCARED to play Bama.' My other favorite was all year until the Penn State game 'Michigan can't run. Michigan can't run.' then immediately after the Penn State game, 'Michigan can't throw.' 🤣🤣🤣
